He is not a grind it back. He does not run with power and its a waste of precious money. Money that is needed to create a winning football team!

Better yet trade him…feature him next game and if he does well, trade him. This whole team needs to be flushed down the toilet, but trading them gives the Giants draft choices to try again with a new GM and HC.

Not only will they extend Barkley, Dave Gettleman is gonna make him the highest RB in the league. It's his prized first pick heading the Giants at #2 overall.

I guess you missed that 3rd down conversion he made where he powered inside What do you want,a big slow poke plodder that only runs up the middle holding the ball with both hands for 3 a play?

He is not a grind it back. He does not run with power and its a waste of precious money. Money that is needed to create a winning football team! Barkley is still an excellent running back. The Giants backed themselves into the corner by drafting him at 2nd overall. I also don't agree that not paying Barkley will help this team get better. They are on the verge of wasting a QB's entire rookie deal by not fielding a good product. Nothing against Barkley, but the Giants shit the bed drafting a running back 2nd overall when it was clear as day to everyone not named John Mara and Dave Gettleman that the Giants needed a new QB.

Barkley had no burst. He doesn't seem 100%.
To say we shouldn't extend his contract is silly though, at this point.

The whole Gettleman era is a colossal failure and it started with that draft pick. We had a roster devoid of young talent, an aged out QB, and we take a RB at #2 in the draft.

Had we won and SB ran for over 100 yds and a couple tds?? We would be seeing 4 yr contracts extensions and best rb in the world threads.😅

While I never agreed with the pick when he was drafted, OJ Simpson in his prime couldn't run behind this OL. They got absolutely no push in the running game at all. He had absolutely nowhere to run.

I don’t think it’s the whole line though. I think Solder is an issue. I think we should get another Center and maybe move Gates.

He doesn’t run hard and looks for open space to avoid contact at all costs. He’s a third down back.

From what I heard Shurmur only liked Mayfield....he was making the choice as he was the guy basically brought in to find Eli's replacement..(interestingly had they kept Mac he would have been all in on Allen ) They didn't want to force a QB pick .. That's not where GETTLEMAN shit the bed..you know where I say he messed up

I dont think excellent back, i think excellent potential. but injuries offensive line . put on a rebuilding team has held him back . we should have never drafted him knowing we needed a QB but gettlemen coundt or didnt want to see it. trade out and draft josh allen there(and thats not hindsight) i said it draft day.

Yeah I wouldn't pay any RB today big Money, so it is nothing against Barkley
Look like he recovered from that Knee injury very well he still has that burst but that Line in front of him still not that good. "Whiff" Hernandez is a BUST get him out of here too that guy is SOFT! Solder one of our worst Free Agent signings EVER it is no way he is better than Peart they just don't want him making all that money standing on the Sideline I guess
Once the Line is Fix I wouldn't matter who we have at RB honestly so no you don't pay Barkley big money

Reese made the mistake of drafting Engram over RT ramz. i was upset about it then. both mistakes were in trying to give more weapons , but what good are these weapons without the line there?

Even if he's no longer a giant after his rookie contract, he's not headed to a huge deal at this point

I agree he didnt look himself. But OL and scheme play a big part. He seemed to run straight into the line and disappear on every run play. What a mess

I said that same point when people wanted him. My exact words were, "Don't pull the cart before the horse". Good running backs are a luxury and not a necessity. Get a good RB behind a bad OL and you get Saquon barkley in all his glory. His ACL's would be doing much better with an OL.

He could have had Ramz at OT and Darnold for DT. Nothing against skill positions but get your LOS in order first. He did it backwards. Skill, skill, skill skill and reached for brawn. Amazing how the Giants lost their way.
