…and it remained true today.
This offense plays first and second down to try to convert third downs. If they cannot convert third downs, which they have struggled mightily with the past few years, then it’s punt it away and try again next time.
The problem being the Giants no longer have any big/chunk plays. Stretch the field on first down. Throw some balls past the sticks once in a while.
Jones threw one ball downfield early today before garbage time and it was a dime to Slayton for about 30-40 yards.
This tentative approach isn’t working. Sometimes I really miss Kevin Gilbride. At least for every shotgun draw he threw in a few deep posts and go routes.

Last year they did this because they had really no deep threats...
So they aquire a legit vertical big play threat like Goliday, pay him 70 million Spend a 1st round pick on a dynamic playmaker that is a threat every time he touches the ball. So their OC can run all the vertical concepts he couldn't last year
To run the same exact goober style offense we saw last year.
I see one constant Let's see if we see something different on Thursday because if I do I have a bad feeling we know what the problem is ane it has to be remedied over the 10 days between games

I didn't see Jones throw to a completion to one open receiver today. Today's NFL is made to produce open receivers. It's impossible not get open receivers, but somehow the Giants can't produce one.

And I thought the protection was pretty good for the most part today. Can’t remember when but I saw Andrew Thomas level someone on a pass block. I say the same thing all the time about open receivers. Cooper Kupp had an easy walk in TD left wide open downfield earlier on SNF. When was the last time we saw that with the Giants? Can’t blow a coverage downfield if there’s no receivers downfield.

I guess Thomas being sick wasn't an excuse.

Jones keys on one person and either has to squeeze it in between a few defenders or it gets deflected and knocked down/picked.

This offense is stupid They aquire playmakers to open up the running game and don't bother to establish the passing game in a passing league where it's easy to stop the run when it's predictable and you don't frighten teams Denver had 7 guys in the 15 yard zone every play including 3rd down .. Hard to run and hard to run short passing ....

It really is insane how everything the giants do offensively looks so damn hard. They very rarely have guys open and when they do catch a pass they are immediately tackled by the whole defense.. this has been going on for years. Interesting enough , opposing offenses move the ball against us like we are playing with 3 defenders and our guys are counting 10 Mississippi before rushing the passer.

I’ve always maintained that they also fall down unprovoked more than any other team. The Jones run last year being the most egregious example.

You know it felt ominous early to me. That draw on 2nd and 16 on the first drive was another give up play. Huge play, easily read jet sweep, draw, sack. Sure looked like the same old shit to me.

They surrender every series that gets to 15+ yards. Killer. Any penalty or loss seems insurmountable and kills a drive.

Because with what you brought up when you run an offense that is based on making 3rd and shorts every series it's insurmountable

I guess we need to blame the one thing that doesn't change and that's Mara lol. Is he telling whoever comes in that " This will be the philosopy"...............

Thus the Garrett conspiracy theory Mara is a goober He has very rich goober season ticled owners They want a goober style team to cater to these people stuck in the 70s It's the only thing I can come up with for why this offense is so behind the times

Maybe Denver is going to be better than people thought?
Their offense looked pretty damn good with Teddy in there. They just wore our defense down.
Of course when Shurmur and Shula were running our offense, we never had an offense that looked anything like that.

1.Shurmer has Sbula basicly forced on him because he couldn't get Stepnoski (look at what he did with Mayfield). 2.better playmakers overall 3.assenone secondary scheme on our part

This is very possible tho now that Jeudy got hurt it will be harder for them. But I thought Bridgewater played out of his skull yesterday. That, and the Giants once again forgot how to cover the TE.

Teddy does nothing to wow anybody but he has been solid everywhere he’s went. Definitely not a QB to be taken lightly. As much of a dud of a HC Shurmur was, he’s a great coordinator. Just one of those guys that fits the OC/DC mild but isn’t cut out to be a head coach.
