So, our secondary was torched all the way around. Disgusting. That was pretty obvious.
This is the interesting part though, there were 28 pressures on 36 drop backs, including 21 hurries, 5 hits & 2 sacks by our defense on Bridgewater. The Broncos D only had 13 pressures on Daniel Jones' 37 pass attempts, including two sacks. So, according to this, Bridgewater was under stress at a much higher rate than DJ.
Giants D missed 11 tackles. Broncos D missed 4.
Gates was good in pass protection.

That's on scheme ..... 2.but people want to move Gates.....

The defense was awful yesterday, and the offense's motto is:
"Have no doubt: three and out!"

28 pressures on 36 pass attempts? Did I watch a different game? The only time I saw pressure was if the secondary covered everyone. Which wasn't all the time.

Those are interesting. Casual eye test yesterday, I wasn't lamenting a lack of pressure, thought we were getting some.
This, quite frankly, makes the offensive performance that much scarier.
I'm gonna assume the defense just laid a total egg and they will bounce back. They earned that last year. The offense has no leash as it was terrible a year ago.

We can talk about the Jones fumble ad nauseum - but the Broncos won this game on Bridgewater escaping and converting on 3rd/4th down. The defense stayed on the field for far too long and it wasn't because the offense kept punting.
The missed tackles are very bad and only having 2 sacks on 28 pressures (78% of passing attempts!!!) is absurd. They need to finish tackles.

Ahh, so the secondary looks like it was the weakest link on our team yesterday. I can't figure this team out.

Ended up being a TD (on the 4th and 2 - missed a tackle on the TE as well). Killer.

Their D had a very bad game. They looked like the D that the Giants had in '17, '18 and '19 that couldn't get off the field.

Surprised that's the stats TBH. There were a few select plays Bridgewater gained himself some time, but for the most part I can't point to seeing him under consistent pressure. Makes me wonder how PFF really measures a QB pressures. Despite some breakdowns in the secondary, I didn't feel like they were THAT bad and more that they couldn't hold as long as necessary given the lack of a pass rush.
Love to see that with Gates. I thought Thomas did very well short of 1 or 2 plays as well. He looked the part of an NFL LT at least in pass blocking.
Feels like our run blocking all around was terrible.

Pressures that are a half second too late are a waste of a statistic.

I would say the run blocking was bad and the coverage was terrible. The playcalling was bad and Slayton had two drops that would've extended drives.

Pressures that are a half second too late are a waste of a statistic. Pressures are a bigger factor than anything. Against a mobile QB who can make plays on the run, combined with bad tackling, you get yesterday's result. Pressure will affect most QB's in this league.

To me, that says the secondary was way too soft. Look at the completion rates against our top CBs. It's crazy.

Now I will give some respect to Bridgewater. He played a hell of a game while under pressure. That 3rd down he made stiff arming Ojulari, that whole play was all him, something we can only wish DJ could do. It was a great pass too.

I did hear the commentators say some of the sacks and pressures were coverage sacks, but I disagreed a couple times. 2016 was the year of coverage sacks lol, and those QBs had a lot more time than Bridgewater. But that's just my perspective. That's why in a thread I made I gave shout-out to Ojulari, I saw him moving the QB (and others as well). Bridgewater just made some tremendous plays. And Pat called a good game. Was probably the best I saw Bridgewater play in a long time. I'm sure it was a career day

Hopefully Thomas keeps it up, as well as Gates, because the rest of the line is trash. No running room for Barkley makes it hard to open up the playbook to pass successfully. Barkley never even faced stacked boxes yesterday and still managed to put the worst stats for starting RB’s in the league yesterday. Yeah, some of it is definitely on Barkley but the run blocking was baaaaaaad.

I was at the game and had end zone seats so I saw what happened to the QB's each pass play a lot. The Pressure was non-existent. The hits, or contact on QB, not really hits, were way too late. Well after Bridgewater had time to eat a sandwich and take a nap before throwing the ball. I was very disappointed with the defense. Secondary played horribly and the scheme was awful. Corners were too cushiony and the safeties were clueless. Worst that defense has looked outside of the Cards or Ravens games since, the 1st Dallas game, or 2nd half against the 49ers.

It's PFF, but the eyeball test verified his good game. He had thst one bad play from what I can remember. Maybe 2. But for the most part he was solid in pass pro. Definitely a plus.
