Judge burned a timeout on the heels of a DJ scramble.
He landed helmet first and I thought he got past the first down marker before contact.
Question, if Joe Palooka (my new name for the HC) is going to burn a timeout, why not challenge the call for "free". It's actually better than free because if successful we get to keep the TO.
Did anyone notice that? Am I missing something?

Judge is wet behind the ears when it comes to challenging and T/Os etc.

Did anyone notice that? Am I missing something? When a QB carrying the ball goes to the ground, the ball is placed when he begins to give himself up, not where he lands. So it was a good spot. They changed the rule that a give up slide needed to be feet first a few seasons ago. It can also be applied now to other positions. Which is why when the Wash RB dove to the ground and then crawled for the first down it was not overturned on the review. It was deemed him giving himself up and going to the ground. So both were good spots based on the rule. Not saying its a good rule, just that these plays and spots are the result of said rule.

Or is not allowed the extra yardage anymore after they hit ground? I thought he had it either way

I thought he had it either way I'm saying that if a player dives to the turf without being touched it can be interpreted as giving himself up on the play and the ball will be spotted where he began his dive. I don't particularly like this rule, but it was put in place for "player safety" and as such each spot was solid based on the rule. They actually gave the RB the spot where he landed, should have been push back another half yard or so from where they gave it to him.

I thought it just applied to when you go feet first, otherwise you are viewed as a running back.

he represents the team's image. "well meaning and hard working but still undisciplined and in disarray a bit"

It's time for Joe Judge to stop looking like a like a rookie head coach.
He constantly talks about being smart, prepared, and disciplined, and yet and in both games we've seen he's not on top of his in-game management skills.
The time for talk is over. We all get it. Judge is a great talker. Now it's all about the on-field performance doing his talking.

For what it is worth I thought DJ had it at first as well so I was surprised by the announcers but on replay it looked like his knee hit before the line.

Yep. He's focused and articulate but he has to make better decisions.

I've been an avid supporter of his, but I now have zero interest in anything he has to say.
All I care about is what I see on game days. That shows me everything I need to know about him.
This morning we have a head coach with a 6-12 lifetime record.
I think Ray Handley had a better win percentage.

Maybe he's too focused on things like marketing to the fans? He clearly loves doing those film breakdowns. He clearly would do well on TV or NFL radio. Maybe that's his true calling?

Where the ball is at that moment . Is where the ball is spotted.

last drive hand off hand off and didnt even get past the 2 minute warning. Have to get a first down there. They were playing not to lose instead of win.

We were already in field goal range, why not go for the win, push the ball into the end zone. I don't get the ball-lessness.
