The New York Giants are rated dead last in Red Zone efficiency with their ability to score a TD in only 45% of their drives into the redzone. Their red zone efficiency is actually worse than 2020. In 2020, they were still rated dead last but managed to score a TD in 46.34% of the time. The Giants have better weapons this year than they had in 2020, although there have been injuries. Can anyone explain to me why any of the offensive coaches still have a job on this team? www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/red-zone-scoring-pct

Normally from the 1, I'd say line it up and run 3 times... But the Giants have no success with the obvious run-down, bunched up approach of trying to win in the trenches. Spread them out, play out of the shotgun. Garrett's play-calling is still awful in the red zone.

Pretty simple reasoning here. 1) A rash of injuries to pretty much ever skill position and the entire left side of the OL. 2) Our OL can't run block. 3) I'm not sure if I'm way off here but the play calling leaves a lot to be desired inside the 20.
With all that said it seems like we have had these issues for a decade through 4 coaching staffs and 100s of players. I think #2 has more to do with it than anything else.

This has been a problem with the Giants for a very VERY long time.
Remember the green zone? Coughlin teams weren’t good in the red zone either.
Giants are an ultra conservative franchise and just can’t figure the red zone out.

Teams with good olines and RBs score in the redzone. Teams without those struggle to score in the redzone.
Barkley would help when within 2 yards because he can go over the top.

It's the dread zone.

Teams would have to account for Jones on RPO so that is an extra defender that can't key on the back And you can run a 21 or even 22 out of shotgun.. or even pistol(Penny is lined up next to Jones and you can RPO with him to momentarily freeze the linebackers then hand it to tbe tailback or run it...) Watching San Fran half the time the FB isn't even hitting the hole in the gap but instead helping to trap a defender in the backfield, sealing another player out,ect and giving tbe RB more places to get the 1 yard We are running Pee Wee level running plays on the goal line with virtually no threats in the passing game out there all bunched in tight ..

There are Olines that are similar to the Giants though that score with much greater frequency. Take the Carolina for example, they are rated 19th and score TD's in the Redzone 59% of the time, that is 31% more than the Giants (A huge amount more). This isn't just poor Oline play and injuries, this includes poor scheme as well. The Giants are always fighting to score TD's in the redzone and TD's are basically never scored on 1st or 2nd down. Always 3rd or 4th down. There is no creativity. Just run it up the gut 3x and roll Jones out 1x.

Garrett is calling plays like he is still a coach of the Cowboys. How many times will the run game get stuffed on the 1 yard line until he gets it into his thick head that the Giants are miles away from a smash mouth offense?

And even teams that can smash it in get stuffed at the goal line Tampa did exactly the same thing we did late in the 3rd with the same exact results (2 runs, boot pass inc, stuffed on 4th and goal at the 1)...luckily they were up 35-3 at that point When you have a qb that is a legit threat to run it in its pure negligence to not line up in shotgun even 1st and goal at the 1 spread out.

that series where we ran up the middle, then passed to the only receiver that was in the play, then got stuffed up the middle yet again....ugh...
we are TERRIBLE in the red zone, and ill never understand the playcalling.
im glad we won, i think the defense stepped up to a degree (albeit against a completely awful caroline performance) but we still need to play much better...

There are teams with bad OLs, there are teams with injuries and teams with bad schemes/play calling. When you have all three of those you set all sorts of records.
A small correction though. We score at 46% and the Panthers are at 59%. That is no 31% more. It's 13% more. I would add execution to our list of woes as well.
