If he wanted to be with the Mets with 18.5 mil on the table would he leave for LA for 21m without so much as allowing a chance to match? You don’t need to be madame ruby to figure that one out. He and/or his agent wanted either out of NY or more money. I'm not claiming to know why. You seem to think you know. We'll see how it works out. My bet is the Mets will be the smarter organization here. I agree we may be smart ultimately. I’m not claiming to know the thoughts of Thor and his agent. However it’s clear that his words about wanting to stay were false. If he wanted to be here he doesn’t leave for 1/21. Whatever his reasons, clearly wanted to go. And now because of his words vs his actions if he comes back the reception won’t be warm. Which honestly, is unfortunate.

The whole Noah thing pisses me off after he said on record that he would take the QO if the Mets offered it to him. " it would be a tough pill to swallow not wearing a Mets jersey next year " ........ bullshit At least we won't be facing us much. Imagine if he went to an NL east team? And you never know with his arm. Could be a blessing in disguise. True Dan .....it might be a blessing in disguise ( i just dont want a repeat of the Wheeler mistake ) .... at least he didnt go to the Phillies or Braves i suppose

At least the Wilpons are gone. This owner can make up for a lost player by buying another player if/when that player becomes available. Nobody has any idea what Noah is. Ton of potential. New elbow, is this the year? Is it next year? Will he start out slow? End strong? What is he?
New owner i believe can relieve us from panic. Dislike losing Noah but i’m not sure what we’re losing. If he turns out to be great, ouch, but i think this owner can find another pitcher which can “ouch” another fan base.

Was I hearing right yesterday, ex-Met Zack Wheeler was in the running for the Cy Young award? Ha! Same ol Mets, continue to get rid of players that do great elsewhere as soon as they are gone from NY, 89' was Mitchell whom they considered a "bad influence" on Straw, leads SF to the WS while winning MVP, then Lenny goes to Philly & helps lead them to the WS, now Wheeler is Cy Young material. This team is cursed. Watch Thor be a top pitcher in the AL & start the All star game & finish as a Cy Young candidate. BTW, Mets still paying Bonilla a cool Mil a yr to chill out in PR 25yrs later?

If being a pitcher qualifies one as "in the running for the Cy Young award" then yeah. Otherwise, no.

One thing I read was that the angels told him they planned to keep a 6 man rotation, which would help ease his workload coming back from TJ. It was unexpected, but I agree we should have the means to replace him. And there's no guarantee for the Angels.

Matz didn’t choose us or give us a chance to match. Here’s the thing our owner getting on Twitter slamming him and his agent isn’t going to attract anyone else for sure. Take your L like a man and STFU.

Well losing Thor hurts. But his health always seems to be a issue. As does DeGrom lately. Then Loup signs with someone else. He was magnificent last year a ERA under 1. Then Mats signs with another team after it looked like he was coming back.
Boy that was 3 pitchers that would have looked good in blue and orange going into the season.
Were behind couldn't sign a GM. Well now we have this guy Eppler and he is in the hole starting out.
Hopefully we sign Baez (2b) and Bryant (3b, of) in FA. Pitching go after everyone and see what sticks.
Not looking good out of the gate, hopefully we can catch up.

Canha , Marte and Escobar .......not bad for 1 day
now lets tie up Stroman and Baez !
Canha Nimmo Marte Pete Baez Lindor
not a bad looking top 6 potentially

I feel a lot better today than I did a couple days ago. Now Canha Nimmo and Marte are all on base guys that could be our first 3 up in front of Alonzo and hopefully Baez and possibly even Bryant or some type of RBI guy. If we could get a good starting pitcher and make the staff stronger it should make quite a difference. Imagine a strong pitching staff on a team that can score runs.

Now we need a quality starter. I’d truly prefer Bryant over Baez let’s see if it can happen. I’m guessing Showalter is going to coach this outfit.

when will the wheels fall off? He is a very solid player though. Mets have a solid saber metrics team. His OPS is very nice and solid across the board and good defense. Baez would be really nice although somebody has to pitch. Mets are looking a bit like the old Cardinals with Jack Clark/Alfonzo surrounded by contact/speed. Pretty exciting team . . . offensively.

Stroman says the Mets are not interested In resigning him. A few reports say they really have their eyes on Sherzer. I don’t know if that’s a great idea.
If we add Baez or Bryant that means that at a minimum McNeill and Smith become trade pieces. That would make sense because we need more than 1 starter IMO.

Didn't Scherzer say last year he would never pitch for the Mets ? If I was the Mets I would sign anyone who would say YES and sign with us. An awful lot of people at every level GM's, Mgrs, and players you say Mets they say NO !
