Sounds like Yanks missed out on Verlander, as he signed a 1 year $25m deal with Astros. And sounds like Correa and Story are out as FA additions as they will sign a "stop gap" SS to fill in until the prospects are ready. Sounds like a cheapo move. Go get Didi again. Torres is a terrible SS. Yup. Just saw. It is a good deal for him. The Yankees stay getting used to raise the ante.

No more from the Astros Cheationship team. I saw Correa say Jeter didn't deserve any gold gloves his time at SS. All I can say is Correa didn't deserve the world series trophy being a cheater.

I think we all saw this day coming, the guy has tons of potential but maybe he's just not a good fit after all.

I think we all saw this day coming, the guy has tons of potential but maybe he's just not a good fit after all. A year or 2 too late IMO. He won't fetch much now. Yankees broke him. He came out the gate as a great hitter and turned into a HR or nothing hitter who stopped hitting so many HRs. The good news is they have 2 or 3 very promising prospect catchers in their system. Catchers than play good defense.

I cant help to wonder if the development of Yankee players is actually a detriment though and hurting these players chances of being better. Sanchez, Torres, Devi Garvia, even Severin, Frazier and Andujar. Then you have guys like Lance Lynn and JA Happ who struggle here but find a groove elsewhere.

When you think of all the Baby Bombers that have regressed, ie: Greg Bird, Miggy, Gleyber, Sevy, Estevan Florial and now Clint Frazier. You have to wonder why this has happened? I wonder if Jasson Dominguez will eventually become a bust??

There's something up within the organization. I just can't pinpoint it. There's too obvious of a trend for us not to be concerned about player development.

Bird, Miggy, Gleyber and Sevy (and lets not forget about Sanchez) all had great success at the major league level when they first came up. It's not like they were hyped up minor leaguers before they came up to the big stage (like Florial was a few years back). They proved they had MLB talent, and got past the potential hype hurdle, and then they regressed.... I just don't get it.

IMO, Sanchez went to the dumpster the moment he put on more muscle and was trained to go all in on hitting home runs. That nonsense also rubbed off on Gleyber Torres. For some odd reason like you said, these players are flaming out after having initial success in the big leagues.

I'd rather Judge and Sanchez and Gleyber attempting to hit more doubles then a HR every time. That doesn't explain the pitchers though. Even Deivi Garcia recently. Pedro Martinez loved his stuff and worked with him. He looked untouchable. What happened?

Here are a couple of prospects to keep an eye on to emerge in 2022.
Yankees #3 Prospect - Oswald Peraza - SS - Could take Tyler Wades spot. Added to the 40-man roster in November, Peraza has the best all-around tools among Yankees infield prospects. He has quality bat-to-ball skills and controls the strike zone well, allowing him to make consistent line-drive contract from the right side of the plate. He needs to get stronger but already generates some of the highest exit velocities in the system and could develop 15-20 homer power once he learns to drive the ball in the air more frequently. Peraza could have four plus tools once he's fully developed. He has smooth actions at shortstop, the arm to make any throw necessary and a good internal clock that helps him slow the game down defensively. He makes good use of his plus speed and stole 44 bases in 54 attempts in 159 games over his first three pro seasons.
Yankees #8 Prospect - Luis Medina - RHP - With little effort and electric arm speed, Medina generates stuff that sounds almost too good to be true, beginning with a heater that parks at 96-99 mph and reaches 102 with natural cut. His low-80s curveball can be a plus-plus hammer and more unhittable than his fastball when it's on. His changeup is also a well above-average pitch at its best, sitting around 90 mph with devastating splitter action. I expect him to see the pen in 2022 at some point.
Yankees #9 Prospect - Ken Waldichuk - LHP - llege career, Waldichuk has adopted a four-seamer and repeatedly has hit 95-96 as a pro. His heater plays as at least a plus pitch because it features quality shape and life, and hitters just don't seem to be able to see it well. Scouts debate which of his breaking balls is better, but both his upper-70s curveball and low-80s slider show the potential to become solid offerings. Waldichuk also displays some feel for a changeup with fade, though it still needs more work. He uses his 6-foot-4 frame and low three-quarters arm slot to create angle and extension that makes it difficult to pick up his pitches, especially for left-handers. He has a history of throwing strikes but will need to refine his command to reach his ceiling as a mid-rotation starter. 2022 can see him as a loogy pitcher out of the pen with potential to be the next Jordan Montgomery or even better.
Yankees #15 Prospect - Hayden Wesneski - RHP - Adding a mid-90s four-seamer to his lively two-seamer gives him a four-pitch mix that also includes a sweeping low-80s slider that moves in the opposite direction as his sinker and a fading changeup that shows flashes of becoming a solid offering. He has no problem throwing strikes and could be a No. 4 starter if he can refine his secondary offerings and upgrade his command. He also could move quickly as a fastball-heavy reliever.
Yankees #19 Prospect - Brandon Lockridge - OF - Could be the one to take Brett Gardners spot. One of the fastest players in the 2018 Draft, Lockridge earns plus-plus to top-of-the scale grades for his speed. He can get from the right side of the plate to first base in less than 4.0 seconds, though he's still refining his basestealing ability. His speed has helped him take quickly to center field, where he has a fringy but playable arm.
Another pitcher I like who got hurt last year and is not even in the Yanks top 30 is TJ Sikkema. Keep an eye on him in the long run.

Rays know they have something special...
Wander Franco signs an 11 year $185M extension.
Great deal for them. I assume it has some player opt outs.
