I thought this was more than appropriate for our thinking about the Yankees outfield Is Ellsbury off the books yet? Haha, I think that he was bought out this year. Maybe I'm wrong about it

Me seeing Corey Seager sign with the Texas Rangers At this point, its almost like if they do nothing they might be better off. Just trade what you can and start the reset.

Same, i don't follow baseball close enough to know all the details, just read that the Mets were likely to be not interested in Ray due to him rejecting qualifying offer and therefore they'd have to give up first round pick

Same, i don't follow baseball close enough to know all the details, just read that the Mets were likely to be not interested in Ray due to him rejecting qualifying offer and therefore they'd have to give up first round pick Yeah thats my general basic understanding on that but I dont know all the details. If they reject the QO, then the team that signs them gives the draft pick to the team losing him. I didnt realize he rejected the Blue Jays QO. The part Im not sure about is how they slot out the pick. I know if a team doesnt sign a drafted player, then they get compensated another pick in the following draft. For example, the Mets didnt sign Kumar Rocker last year, so they get a sandwich pick round 1 this year for missing out last year. Then there is the whole salary allotment part of it that is different too. They only have a certain amount of money to sign all their players they drafted. So they have to be strategic about it. Sometimes they draft a player knowing he wont sign, just to save money for later round guys and get that pick back next year. There is also post round competitive balance picks given to some teams. Very different than the NFL draft for sure.

I assume it is a very low $$ contract (backup money), but being the Yankees, they probably negotiated against themselves to a premium #, and yes, Gardy will be back, don't you worry. How could this team possibly get through a season without Gardy?

I hadn't seen the number. $8 is way too high for Sanchez, I guess they negotiated against themselves again.

This team constantly ruins its players. Its unfathomable. Can anyone name one player that continually grew and got better with this team? Im really pissed off about them screwing up Miguel Andujar. That kid has a serious bat. Doubles machine. Then they were afraid to put him anywhere on the field. Sure, his range wasnt the best, but his glove wasnt terrible. And he didnt make any big blunders in the OF when I saw him play. IIRC, the Padres were very interested in him a few years back before they went after Manny Machado, maybe even scored Fernando Tatis Jr if they worked at it?
I was all for keeping Miggy, but had no idea they would just bury the kid.
Torres is about to follow the same path as Gary Sanchez now too.
Cant wait to see what Clint Frazier does in a Cubs uniform too.

CC Sabathia doesn't want to hear anymore about Clint Frazier: 'That kid played f--king 15 games in the big leagues' CC Sabathia wants everyone to just get over it and move on already. Sabathia is more specifically referring to Frazier taking a jab at the Yanks while sharing his excitement about joining the Cubs, saying "so am I" when a fan said he's glad he's out of the Bronx. Let's just say Sabathia didn't hold back how he felt. "If I see another Clint Frazier story, bro, I'm gonna punch somebody in the f--king face," he said on the R2C2 Podcast, per Audacy's John Healy. "S--t is ridiculous. That kid played 15 games in the f--king big leagues. Get the f--k out of here with all these stupid ass f--king stories.” www.yahoo.com/sports/cc-sabathia-doesnt-want-hear-223354283.html

The HOF is going to be very interesting going forward. Personally, since we cant honestly distiguish with 100% accuracy those who used and those who didnt (Mike Piazza? Rickey Henderson?), I would vote them in. Bonds, Clemons, Arod, ManRam, Sosa, McGwire, Ortiz.... all deserve the nod despite the PEDs. And before you bash my thoughts, just remember, Bud Selig, the man that looked the other way on this whole PED issue to generate interest in baseball after the 1994 lockout, was inducted into the HOF. HOF voter selects for 4 candidates, removes Manny Ramirez 'to make room' for A-Rod
