He's not wrong.
It should have been retired 10 years ago at least.
15 years a Giant with a SB cherry on top. HOFer.

It would have been nice to have it done after the HOF induction.

He’s right. He retired 14 years ago.
The Silver Spooned Weenie has the Medusa touch.
The guy literally can’t get anything right. But I’m sure that he’ll make the right decisions at the end of this season to put us back on track!! 🙄

His jersey was basically retired the day he called it quits. No player since has worn number #92 for the Giants.

Why was Eli's retired before Strahans? It makes no sense. At all.

I think the whole retiring numbers is silly and unnecessary. The ring of honor is enough. So I don't really care if he's upset about it, if fans are upset about it or if fans are upset about Stra being upset about it.
The whole thing is meaningless and does nothing to help us win.

A bunch of teams never retired numbers or don't do it anymore. Not a fan of it either.

Still it took way too long. I'm wondering why it came after Eli. To me that diminishes Strahan a bit...Strahan sounds a bit hurt by it all.

So what he's upset. Harry Carson is still waiting, Harry also won 1 SB, is a HOF, and a Giant legend. You can say Eli got retired just because QB's always are the first thought in everything and it was an oversight on the Giants. And I don't know if this is anything but just saying it..... Eli won 2 SB's.
And this is something I've said forever. The Giants have so many damn numbers already retired we can't field a team in pre season without duplicating numbers on multiple players. We have over 20 numbers retired, maybe 25. How damn many numbers are we gonna retire. Eventually what do we do go 3 digit numbers on the jerseys ? A little bit tongue in cheek.
Does it really matter that the number should have been retired earlier. Is it anything more than just ego ? Harry got elected to the HOF after missing on numerous tries. He's still a HOFamer and deservingly so.
Strahan should have had his number retired earlier but it's up there in the Ring of Honor forever now.
If I'm Mara I apologize and move on one way or another.

I find it a little hard to care much about a player who has made umpteen millions crying about something like this. Strahan knows how he is viewed by Giant fans so it really is all meaningless, I guess Strahans feelings are hurt, boo hoo...

T From what I recall they were going to and then Harry said no .For some years no one worn it then someone came in and asked Harry's permission and it's been used ever since.

Is it eventually possible to put the number up in the ring of Honor and still let players wear the number. The players would still get the respect of the teams and fans would have a moment to reflect on the great player that wore that number before them.
I do this with my family and especially my grandsons. They get to hear a story through my vision of that great player. And they get a taste of our great Giant legends and history. They always ask was he great giant when I was growing up and I say yes. I think its nice to bond all the generations and help create an interest to read or watch clips of these great players during half time together.
I remember players numbers from when I was a kid. And thats over half a century ago. And every single time when I see the number on another player I think of the Giant that I liked and rooted for years ago.
Example - When I've seen players wear #70 no matter how many players have worn this number I immediately think of Sam Huff. Huff was great and got to see him play growing up as a kid. And of course I will never forget him. I know with the mess and the hatred from Huff after the trade his number will never be retired. but everytime I see #70 Sam Huff comes to mind. He doesn't come to mind when I'm watching the Giants and don't see his number.
I get the same feeling for Harry Carson #53. I think of him immediately and smile. There are other players as well I think of when I see their numbers on other players.

If that is the case they ought to rethink it and do the right thing. Harry was a 9x pro bowler back when that meant something. Speaking of 9x pro bowlers whose numbers are retired; #79 should be retired as well. There’s a man who worked for this team for 50 years.

After playing he coached and after coaching he became a scout. He worked for the Giants from 1953 until he passed in 2004 I believe.

Going through some old family pics. Here's a pic of our big game back in 1972 or 73.
If anyone is interested, that's me at LDE with the white shorts facing the double team with Rosie as my MLB'er.
