First, yes a player can do whatever they want within reason
From a business perspective the optics of wearing the Rams gear versus the team that you are under contract with - the NY Giants, it's just common sense. This is where his agent should be earning his money and advising his young client of this sensiblilty.
I know in my company to be seen with competitive product is not going to be looked on favorably and in the long run it's just not worth it.

Unscrupulous and unethical people. Ambulance chasers of the sport.

Yes, I am a Giants fan also. I just don't care what these players wear in the offseason. In fact I don't care about ANYTHING they do in the offseason (unless it's a crime or similarly bad). Yeah it was an unfortunate season for him this year with all the injuries, but I don't hate him. Hopefully he can be healthy next year, and whoever the coach is will actually use him properly. Players swap jerseys with each other all the time, which means that players like/respect other players on other teams. Maybe he just likes Beckham or some other player on the Rams and is rooting for them. SO WHAT? There is nothing wrong with it, if you don't care about your fanbase. I dont care that he did it. He has already proven to not be intelligent. I just hope his talent comes through for us at some point, before he is playing for another team. Its odd seeing an active NFL player wearing another team he doesnt play for's stuff. Rooting for a person like OBJ is one thing, rocking the Rams gear is another IMO. Did Eli or Peyton ever wear Colts or Giants garb for his brother? I dont remember. They probably didn't because all they wear are the quarter zip sweaters with a collared shirt underneath. On a more serious note, he was supporting his friend (someone already posted a tweet about him supporting Van Jefferson), so he was rooting for his friend's team, the Rams. Again, who cares?

The only loyalty players have is to $$$$. They could give a rat's butt about the history of the franchise the team they are drafted by or traded to. They couldn't tell you the names of great players that played for the team they're currently on. You ask a player on the Giants who is Earnest Gray, they'll look all stupid trying to respond. There should be a mandated 1 week of team history & film that all rookies & newly signed FAs should watch & then be tested on at the end of the week. If they have zero pride or knowledge of the history, & great players who wore the NY Giant uniform, how you gonna expect them to give a damn about when they win or lose. Ask any & all Marines of any age, what was the birth of the USMC, who is Smedley Butler, where is Tun Tavern, How'd we get the nickname of Devildog, What is the Marmaluke sword, The Boxer rebellion, Khe San, and last but certainly not least, how many silver stars did Chesty Puller earn. All will know the answers! Why? Because we have pride in being Marines and in our corps rich history and traditions. NFL players of teams can't say the same. All they care about is $$$.

The problem is, he isnt producing on the field, and keeps showing up off the field with crap. Its a cumulative thing, not a one off.

Question of the day: If you're angered by this, is it some deep-seeded hatred for rap music? I have ZERO issue with this. Him and Van Jefferson are tight, so he is just pulling for his friend's team.

Lol. I find it somewhat refreshing he doesn’t seem to give a damn what old fogey / bitter / over-zealous Giants fans might think. Exactly Who the **** cares The usual suspects always do. They whined until OBJ departed and just have a new target. Van Jefferson is a former Florida Gator that played alongside the guy. Fans get way more wrapped up in this stuff than the players do.

The FAN has become more tabloid-esque over the years and this is just an example. Maybe they feel they need to keep up with ESPN in that department?

So a Pro football player should not be obligated to learn about the history & great former players that once wore the uniform they now wear? It's no big deal to some of you?

The media, regardless of the platform, thrives on drama and fear. The post did the job of making people angry. As soon as I saw the post. I immediately knew that he was supporting VJ. I honestly thought that our fans were better than assuming the worst from that pic alone. I'm disappointed that some of the fans on here immediately started character assassinating a player that simply was supporting their best friend.

This all boils down to the same logic....he doesn't produce on the field and everything he does gets scrutinized with a magnifying glass and viewed in a negative way. If he produces on the field then he's a little eccentric and supports others, what a great guy.

You can’t hear tone of voice or expression from a keyboard. I think it’s a disgrace as well. But I don’t think kids are taught this shit now. It starts at home. They don’t have the life that we had. The rules are different. It carries over into their work ethic. Not all…but a big enough number to say man, things have changed. And yeah…I’m a disgrace because I can’t remember the orders. **** it! I did my time, let someone else do theirs!💪

Whereas a guy who breaks his balls and produces more than his fair share has earned the right to open his mouth.👍

I do not think its a big deal BUT if I was a guy who was a rookie that rarely played I would probably go another route.
If I was him I would rather be seen on the field than social media or in other ways. Yes I'm old.

I myself am guilty for playing provocateur with this but I did so knowing full well what the response would be, even from guys like yourself who are more "pro player" than some others.
Not too long ago there was some posts implying hatred towards him was biased outside of football, but I'd argue it's all about football and the color blue.
Fans don't like the perception that their players are disrespecting their colors. I get that even though I really don't give a crap about stuff like this at this stage in my life. He could wear Cowboy jersey for all I care as long as he plays well on Sundays for us. His issue is all about getting and staying on the field.

lmao lol. On a side note, did you guy see Odell last night. Looked damn good to me. I did go to sleep unsually early last night though and after it was 14-0. I saw he only finished with 4 for like 54 and that td but I still think he can be a no. Odell did not want to be a Giant, he did not want to be a Brown ...so he pouted like a child. The Browns gave him what he wanted to play in LA. Tony has learned from Odell.

Maybe he is trying to get traded. Has anyone seen our offense? based on his contribution to the team this past season he might not have to try too hard...so far all he is to the team is a showoff..
