Re watching the game right now on NFLN and as I saw it Sunday I just saw the first slide and it surely looked like he I don't even know what to call it but got popped in the head versus sliding like we all know he can't do properly SMH. Anyone has better angles of the slides?

They’re clearly not the same QBs (skill or body type) but Josh Allen isn’t exactly smart with his body. At all. He smashes for yards head first a lot but the difference is he doesn’t have Jones injury history.
I wince every time Jones is close to contact.

They run without fear of injury. Jones is a great athlete but when he slides or gets down at the end of a run it looks so awkward. He never looked like that before he was injured. He needs to get that shit ironed out quickly.

I think he thinks if he doesn’t get it done it’s not going to get done so it seems like he’s always looking for the absolute most yards and when whatever lane he saw closes he’s still trying to figure out how to squeeze out more. That’s a long way of saying I agree with you.

I don’t disagree but some of those he takes the hit trying to get the 1st or he slides. I don’t necessarily want him taking a hit every time he needs a 1st down because I think he runs too much. He won’t make it through the season doing that. But generally he has to look to get that last foot without getting blasted.

I mean if you are going to run , run the damn thing and pick up the first down if it's literally right there. Have a conviction and confidence. That 80 yd td trip up told us all we needed to know about Jones being hooked on fonics lol. Not sure he'll ever be supremely confident in all areas of things he does.

I dont think Jones lacks conviction or confidence. If that was the case he would have totally folded on Sunday after that pick to Barkley. He is very apprehensive about getting hurt when running though. He knows the weight if this season and he knows if he misses a few games no matter how good he plays other wise he will be done here. As far as that trip during that long run vs Philthy. When I was younger I was considered very fast. There were times when I got going so hard that I literally could not keep up with my self. At that pace all its takes is one slight miss step and your done. I bet 99x out of hundred Jones doesnt trip up on a run like that. He was pushing over 21mph right?

But it seems from what I have seen, Allen often goes up high on defenders, more putting his ribs in peril than his head. He looks like a big boned naturally tough fellow, one of those guys who never seem to get hurt.

Head up when getting hit I believe Jones put on weight after his first season, Allen looks like it's just the way his body type is. Not sure if practicing better contact avoidance translates to what one just naturally does in the speed of the game. Now it's the season, and we still don't see him doing anything different.

I hope he stays healthy.

Head up when getting hit The muscularity, an important aspect for QB’s ….quite different between the two. Jones is too rigid in everything he does, while Allen is looser out there…even when he was playing in Wyoming you can see his raw smooth talents. Athleticism is not just running fast in a straight line….QB’s need to look calm and Jones looks like every play is a feared and stressful event vs a “ I got this shit, fear me defense…”

Jones may never "look calm" and thats fine as long as he becomes a better QB. They all have their style. I am not so sure how fearful or stressed Jones is. His body language may indicate that but whats inside his head. IDK......I just want the kid to succeed big time.

That’s not a slide, it looks like he’s falling down stairs. He must want a short career, because their will be a rabid linebacker who will take his head off.
