Mets hiring David Stearns as PBO per Passan. A ray of light in a dismal season. Oh and I’ve still been watching. Mauricio has been excellent, more confusing than e never brought him up. If you went back you would see my posts begging them why they’re not bringing him up earlier. Play him every day it doesn't matter but it does give him a feel for the majors. The 3 other A-1 baby Mets Alvarez proved he belongs even though his BA sucks. Baty had a good 1st half of the season but has stunk the place up the 2nd half. His BA also sucks. Vientos hasn't shown me much. Mauricio should have been up here after the all-star game if not before. Alvarez has awakened again lately and Vientos has raked since recall, homered last night again.

A great trade seems that much better. You could almost see that coming. Although not actually injured, he basically broke down late last year too.

Fun to see the baby Mets play. Gives me a reason to watch some of the games.

Who is this guy pitching for the Mets named Peterson? I know they used to have one, but this can't be him...

To review Alvarez doing well, Vientos swinging it, Mauricio looks good but a bit of a free swinger. I’m sorry man, but Baty just seems like a lost cause. Seems like a good kid, but maybe either the show or NY just isn’t for him.

Since then I don't know what happened but I can't believe he's even the same player. Vientos has surprised me I'm starting to become a believer. I am very hopeful with a lot of the minor league guys. I am amazed at D. J. Stewart's performance. I'm rooting for Butto and Luchesi as far as young pitchers go.

Well I am very pleased the powers that be have finally decided to not pitch Edwin Diaz this season. They shut him down but he is still going to throw bull pen sessions for some reason thru September. Don't understand why. But not appearing in any games.
He's 29 he should be fine next year and no risk of injury rushing him back.
I was so worried this stupid organization was going to rush him back for no reason. So now we should have 2 pitchers that we should be able to count on next year Diaz and Senga. Just have to fill the other 11 spots.

The Mets need to tank the rest of this season, what is it 12 games ?
If the Mets don't finish with at least the 6th worse record they will drop 10 spots in the upcoming draft because of payroll penalties and violations with their spending.
The league won't touch the 6 worse teams. The Angels just moved down ahead of the Mets into the 6th spot. Their already tanking.
Their is nothing to gain by winning.

How exactly do you see the Mets tanking? They sit Pete, Lindor, Nimmo and McNeil? Senga too? I get that fan "logic," but the players and coaches usually have a reason to look good for future earnings. How do you get all of them to tank?

One or two of them could sit 1 game and the other 2 sit another game. Pitch Senga on 6 days rest, that should limit him to 2 starts the rest of the year. Why risk him anyway ? The young guys are hitting pretty damn good anyway. I'm just hoping we don't fall 10 spots in the draft. As of today we might miss the first 6 spots anyway.

I don't think Stevie is caring that much about the draft where he's looking to tank. He's got everyday gameday stadium revenues to think about too. I think fans that talk about any professional team tanking are naive. It just doesn't work the way you think it does. Just MO.

I think he's more of a "screw the draft positioning, let's go balls out and finish at .500 or better" type guy. WhichI like because it's not my money and it's baseball. Screw playing for draft order. I respected, supported and completely understood his reasoning behind selling at trade the deadline. The guy understands a good trade vs a bad trade. He won't always be right, but so far I can't complain after decades of penny pinching ignorance under the Wilpons.

We could finish above .500 if we do some basic things. Top of that list? Stop using Gott, my god! I’ve been tuning in to watch the kids. I can believe we gave up anything to acquire that guy. Awful.

At this point in time with what 5-6 home games left Stevie's worried about "gameday stadium revenues" ? Whatever happens the last few home games as far as revenues means absolutely nothing for the profit of this season. I'm rooting for the Mets to finish as one of the bottom 6 teams so they don't drop 10 spaces in the draft. This season is already written down as a loss that didn't work out. We got as much as we could for unloading the Met players we did. It was a good move to get these future players that have real potential. And I would like to get one more top potential player picking 6th. Maybe the Mets don't make it , maybe they do. I think it would be better to pick the 6th player in the draft than the 16th. Rather than win meaningless games out of the last 10-12 games of the season that means crap.

Many people involved with the team have reasons not to tank. Explain to me how you as Stevie Cohen would get your team to tank for a draft position.

I understand, hell I'm watching them last night (Thursday night) with Senga pitching a gem into the 6th inning and Vientos hitting 2 HR's and I'm clapping my hands smiling petting and wrestling with my little yorkie (Katie) who watches TV with me. And happy and I like what the lineup is going to look like. And can't help myself but to root for these banana's to win it. Like all those years with the Giants. But I know this isn't best for the organization. Going into last night we were tied for the 9th worse record with Pittsburgh. So I'm trying to figure out if we even got a chance to get to the 6th worse spot with 10 games left. But I know the 6th spot in the draft is better than the 19th or 20th. Because as of today that's when we'll pick. Just trying to figure a way to get a better player.

Buck Showalter won't return as Mets manager in 2024 Buck Showalter told reporters on Sunday that he will not return as the New York Mets' manager next season. He was never the guy to be with Sterns. Pretty much a given. I have seen a few reports that expect Counsell to depart from Milwaukee and join Stearns in NY. We will see.

I always liked Buck throughout his career and I think he was the right guy last year. But ultimately as has been pointed out. He’s around a .500 career manager. That just ain’t gonna get it done.

Stearns also said he expects Pete to be the Mets starting 1B next season. On one hand that’s good, but on the other hand he hit .220. Like Sarc said above, that also ain’t gonna get it done.
