Outstanding Verlander thin veneer shattered. Cole has to pitch again too. Altuve magic gone. What a great night for Yanks. Even if stros win they may not face Verlander and cole till games 2 & 3. ...go rays!

Nice! Verlander blew his load, now Cole has to go game 5 which means its either Greinke or Morton Game 1 Saturday

I think that it is safe to say that the Cardinals are heading to the NLCS. 9-0 in the first inning with only one out.

Wow, Howie Kendrick just hit a grand slam in the 10th to put the nationals up 7-3. On another note, Juan Soto is a beast.

Kershaw is so not a postseason pitcher. One of the best regular season pitchers I've ever seen, but cant get it done in October.
Glad the Dodgers got knocked out. They deserve it for not beating the Red Sox last year.
Kendricks revenge
Cardinals vs Nationals for the NL Pennant
Who would have thought that

Oh well, stros runs bottom 8th pretty much out of reach. At least we're facing a staff pushed to its limits, in Verlander's case beyond

If we have any shot in beating the Astros, we'll have to do it in six games or less, because I don't see the Yankees beating Cole in Game 7 in Houston.

He only pitched bad in Tampa on 3 days rest, obviously didnt have it. He will have plenty of rest when he pitches against us. Cole and Verlander, especially at home, are nearly unhittable.

Everyone reaches a tipping point. Randy Johnson was all that too until Seattle over worked him. We saw firsthand in a Yankees uni how he was not the same. Not saying Verlander is bad but he's just lost a lot of the intimidation factor. Glad their manager made the mistake of putting him out there and to look bad.

Look at his game log. He had 1 bad game, which happened on short rest in his last appearance.

You're saying there's no benefit to rays pushing them thru their staff, one of which to a terrible outing, while our guys earned 3 days extra rest?

Page taken right out of the Red Sox playbook on how to win a world series. I mentioned to a friend it looked like the Astros knew exactly what was being thrown before it was thrown. Not just this game either. Their home road splits indicate this as well.

No. I'm saying Verlander is still one of the best pitchers in baseball and can dominate the next start regardless of getting shelled in Tampa on 3 days rest.

Astros all 12 pitchers are right handed. I think we know why Yankees elevated hicks now.

I see the Braves are still choking away playoff series just the way the 90s teams used to do. Glad to see they're keeping the tradition alive. As for LA, they've become the modern day version of the 90s Bills imo. And CK is a super choker in October. HOFer in the reg season, HOCer in the post season. As was stated, Yanks need to do everything in their power to win this series in 5! Yanks vs Cards would be nice to see. 2 teams with most WS titles in their respective leagues meeting since what, the early 60s?
