There has been so much talk from the Giants about the QB position. Why would they do that if they want a QB? Seems odd to me. But the other question is, if they don't go QB this year in the draft, who plays QB in 2025? Jones will be cut after the season, I just don't see them keeping that cap number for that player in 2025. Lock is on a one year deal. If they don't draft a potential starting QB, they have no QB in 2025. So maybe they are actually desperate for one, like some talking heads have said. So I guess the question is, if the plan is not QB in this draft, which QBs to they expect to shake free after this season for them to bring in via trade or free agency? Anyone have any ideas on that? What vet can we bring in for 2025? Not stopgap vet, but QB for 5 or so years vet that makes us a contender? If there isn't at least one, are they then forced to take whatever QB they have rated highest when they pick this year? For me, the only QB I'd draft this year over any of those 3 WRs is Williams and he won't be an option. Schoen has said nothing about any particular QB in this draft. It's their actions that give it away. You can't hide scouting. If they can't move up for Maye or McCarthy, I believe it will be Nix or Penix late first or early second. Outside of some nightmare circumstance, I see no scenario where Giant don't take a QB in this draft. you’re right, you can’t hide scouting, but this theory requires assumptions that the outcome of the scouting means they’re ready to pick one of them., or move up for one. The sheer volume of scouting attention for those two could be based on the probability of who’s available at or near 6, because that lines up as well. If you look at the sheer volume of reporting on Maye and JJ, those two have the most amount of content suggesting they may go later than anticipated.

I think 1/2 of us will have a stroke if that happens, myself included...Should be an interesting first 2 rounds this year...

I won’t be shocked if they leave a QB on the board. That’s the underlying message of my previous post, if your scouts and gut are telling you that an available QB isn’t worth the pick, then use that fact that he’s on the board to rip off another team in a trade who sees it differently. We don’t need a QB MORE than we need a starter at 6. JS can keep his job if he drafts a quality starter at 6, but doesn’t have a long term answer at QB when his contract expires. If he picks a QB and he’s garbage at the end of 25’, you’re in real trouble. I don’t think this is a good time to prioritize need over BPA. I would feel real comfortable sitting in front of Mara in 25’ saying we still don’t have an answer at QB but the rest of the team is moving in the right direction. “We don’t have an answer at QB” is frankly most of the NFL. We really needed a tackle 2 years ago, no one is giving JS a pass for drafting Neal. Filling a need with a dud has bad outcomes.

Schoen is playing a high states game.
If he selects a terrific QB with first pick it's doubtful he'll be great immediately given the rest of the roster, thus setting the Giants further back for a few years.
Far better decision would be to select a WR and select a QB in later rounds but that's a risky decision as well as that QB presently has a lower rating than other QBs.
Also, moving on from after the Giants just gave Jones a ton of money makes FO look dumb. But hey it's the Giants.
They sure know how to create unnecessary drama.

Hold down the fort?! For what Dog? You want to keep bus driving Jones around, which includes paying him a lot more over the next two years (plus his injury clause is in play) so we can maybe scratch the surface of the playoffs and eventually have to draft a QB when we’re picking in the 20’s and have to give up three 1sts and some to move up for a QB who will be just as much as a gamble as this years guys? By that time half our current roster will either be aged out or FA’s and we won’t have any picks to replace them with. so they are supposed to reach again and start the whole Jones Saga over with a different face if there is no top2 or 3 QB there at 6 then they need to draft a game changer at different position. I want a QB but i'm not trading the world fro a guy who has a 33% chance to succeed and since it will probably be a reach at 6 I'm taking a guy that would be #1 in another draft. Maybe i''m wrong but this team needs game changers and if there isn't one at QB then i'm taking the WR that is one in front of me. Again, so what QB won’t have a 33% chance to succeed and unless you think we’ll be picking higher than 6 within the next few years what’s your plan for getting our QB of the future? I just re read your comment, so are you saying you would wait until there is possibly a clear cut QB at #1 (ie williams) sometime in the next few years and would be willing to sacrifice several 1st round picks (most likely) to possibly get him? There’s no guarantee that QB will be a success either and there would be a good chance whoever is picking #1 would need a QB and not want to trade back no matter what. I don’t understand your strategy for getting our next QB.

We are devoid of talent right now. 2 Edges, 1 DT,1LB, maybe one CB, 1LT. Our draft picks need to start contributing especially on the offensive side of the ball. Anything to bolster that I am for. We are going to keep dipping in FA well if we can't recognize and develop starting talent.

I am saying exactly that if your roster is good enough you can afford the draft assets if your roster is solid, this is a 4 round draft because of underclassmen staying in School there will be teams trying to unload 5th and even more so 6th and 7th round picks, they would be fools to give away there first second and 3RD round picks to move up to 4. If they are gonna draft 4th or 5th best prospect in this draft they might as well wait till the 3rd and take Rattler or the kid from Florida St who broke his leg and develop one of them or even Micheal Pratt. Next year there will be guys like Daniels and McCarthy that will rise Millroe Sanders and Ewers will be solid prospects and probably a couple others will move up boards. I want to risk it with a kid who has the arm talent and athletic ability to create not a statue or system QB with just enough arm. If they draft a QB I'm not gonna complain, but Schoen better get 3 more years because if they trade up most of this draft will be gone no #1 WR going on year six, and next year no #1 because your first rounder most likely is gone, I don't want to here the I wanna win crowd whining because trading away all your premium draft assets with half built roster isn't gonna help the franchise or the QB that they just invested in. They can do it but expect it to be a few more years if a trade is involved and the QBs bust % most likely will be higher because he will not have the weapons and maybe the OL to thrive. Have to remember a guy like Daniels had a good OL and a top 3 WR and a top 10 -15 to throw to it's not gonna be that easy in the NFL he won't have studs going against kids.

I'll be a bit surprised if Maye, Daniels or JJ are on the board and we pass over them, but not totally shocked. Keeps it interesting, for sure...

I love OL play, and think Fashanu will be good in time, but if we take him right now with JJ and Odunze on the board still, I will probably smash another TV remote like when we took DJ at 6. As long as we got WR or QB in the 1st (or trade down) ill be good with it, I wont even narrow it down to WHICH WR or QB because Id be happy with Williams, Daniels, Maye, McCarthy, Odunze or Nabers at 6

I don't know what starter can make up for the deficit at QB. How can they claim we're moving in the right direction without the one thing that proves it... Wins? There's a difference between not having an answer at QB and not searching for one with what we currently have. This team doesn't have a future without a QB somewhere in this draft. How do Schoen and Daboll go into the season with Jones and Lock and tell us with straight faces they plan on being competitive? It would be announcing they are forgoing the season to ride out Jones's contract.

If we’re going to try and get a franchise QB I don’t see the point in wasting a 3rd or 4th round pick on a guy who probably has a 10% chance of being a decent QB in the NFL at best. If you’re talking about building the roster first, then build the roster, not waste picks on a QB in the 3rd or 4th round. I understand you want to risk it with a more solid prospect but are any of them really going to be that much more solid than what we’re looking at this year? The history and percentages of first round picks turning out to be good or better are less than 35%. How many more drafts and/or years do you think it would take to build a solid roster for you to be willing to get that QB? I’m thinking at least 2-3 more years IF Schoen nails most picks and right now he has done the exact opposite. In 2-3 years, assuming we still have DJ, we’ll be strapped with his salary and other guys like Dex, AT, and whoever new guys that are worth extending will cost more money as well. In other words, the clock is already ticking. I don’t think we have 2-3 years to wait for that. Say some guys step up this year and Schoen has a decent draft. We still wouldn’t have a loaded roster and we would probably be picking in the mid teens and have to give up twice the draft capital, if not more, to move up and get whichever QB we want to take the same amount of risk on as we would this year. Anyways, we’ve beat this horse to death Dog. Whatever happens, let’s hope for the best. I don’t mind them skipping a QB this year, especially if they have their eyes on Maye, but that means they will almost assuredly have to draft one next year (and that means we’ll probably suck in 2025 as well) and we’ll be giving up that many more picks to get him. I don’t envy the position Schoen is in right now but he better nail this draft and when DJ plays Schoen better pray he doesn’t get hurt. Always nice chatting with you Dog, enjoy this beautiful Masters Sunday!

Always nice chatting with you Dog, enjoy this beautiful Masters Sunday! there were reports yesterday that Brady would listen to calls if they came in. Maybe we'll go that router, lol... haha…yeah, I read that. I believe he mentioned he would go to the right team, aka legit contender, I can’t believe he’s not kicking doors down to get into Met Life right now. Get him Odunze and we should be ready to roll! Heck, we even already patched up, eh hem, I meant solidified our O line during the off season for the 10th year in a row, what more could he want?

Rattler is just a buzz word, I wouldn’t waste anything other than a 5th round pick on him. Even better, draft a WR at 6 and not waste draft capital on a QB at all. Don't see how a mid-late round QB would add much to the team that already has 2 1st rounders in Daniel Jones and Drew Lock. The only possibility I see is Maye at 6 and perhaps Penix in the 2nd if either are available. I heard the NYG like Maye but I've heard him been called a project by some. Will Joe draft a project in a year where he may be on the hot seat? Maybe...but I doubt it.

Drafting a QB would only create more drama, and agree, inefficient use of cap space. I think that's why guys like Pat Leonard are pushing for a QB so hard...the media type like Pat loves drama!

He has been since September You like him? He has some real flaws in his game he needs to clean-up. He is the best thrower of the football and creator by a country mile in this class he played on a bad 1 read offense where if the Read was covered it was on him to make it happen Caleb will be fine in the NFL. The only issue i have is we don't have a shot at getting him.

Always nice chatting with you Dog, enjoy this beautiful Masters Sunday! Good call on Rattler - Rattler gets rattled ALOT. He’d be a waste of a pick. Anyone thinking about adding him to our roster.just hasn’t seen him play much. Good backup? Maybe……🤔 LOL he played behind a bad OL and delivered he has things to work on yes but thats BS he was very good under a ton of pressure think he may have faced the most pressure in the country or close to it. He also over came the maturity issues he had in high school and early in his college tenure

I just saw a mock, having us taking Fashanu at 6 with JJ, Alt and Odunze still on the boards. I think 1/2 of us will have a stroke if that happens, myself included...Should be an interesting first 2 rounds this year... I would be shocked if we go o line at 6. This is where I'm at 100%

You like him? He has some real flaws in his game he needs to clean-up. I think this entire QB class is overrated. But that's me. Every QB class is overrated - 4 QB’s will likely go in the first 5 picks and odds are that 2-3 of them will be busts. I also think that Penix or Nix will be better than a couple of the guys who go in the first 5 picks.
