Swept in Tampa??? Didn't see that coming. It feels like no matter what happens....it's going to come down to the last series in Boston between the Yanks and the Sox.

Nice win tonight...
The Yanks have a good chance to take 2 of 3 this weekend, with Sevy pitching against Price on Sunday night.
I'm already waving the white flag for tomorrow night's game with Sony Gray facing Chris Sale.

When talking about pitchers named Severino... Two is better than one!!! 19-year-old righty Rafael Severino, Luis' kid brother, signs with Yankees NEW YORK -- Luis Severino might be the Yankees' ace now, but the franchise is hoping another Severino he knows quite well might compete with him for that title in the future. The Yankees signed Severino's 19-year-old brother, fellow right-handed pitcher Rafael Severino, on Monday to their academy in the brothers' native Dominican Republic. www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23979030/new-york-yankees-sign-rafael-severino-luis-severino-brother

Bryce Harper could solve Yankees’ problem at first base. Free agent-to-be has been working out at first and would be welcome addition for Yankees with Greg Bird having a disappointing season. Thanks to the inexplicable disappointment that is Greg Bird, the Yankees really have only one position on the field where they’re piecing it together on a nightly basis. For Tuesday’s game, it was Brandon Drury’s turn at first base against Braves lefthander Sean Newcomb, even though Aaron Boone refuses to call what’s happening a platoon. But there’s no point in protecting Bird any longer. Not until he starts living up to his supposed high ceiling again, and Bird hasn’t done much this season to suggest he deserves to be the Yankees’ first baseman — for now or the future. Which makes what occurred Monday in Washington all that more interesting. Bryce Harper grabbed a first baseman’s glove and took ground balls before that night’s game against the Red Sox. The Nationals have no immediate plans to use him at the position, although Harper reportedly told manager Dave Martinez he’d like to play there. But the fact that the former MVP rightfielder is willing to try this particular position — combined with the Yankees’ troubling void there — introduces a new free-agent scenario for both parties involved. www.newsday.com/sports/columnists/david-lennon/yankees-braves-1.19587338

Bryce Harper’s new position interest is long-shot Yankees path. The Nationals surely weren’t showcasing him, but Bryce Harper might have shown another way he could get to the Yankees next year. The outfielder put in pregame work Monday afternoon taking ground balls at first base, a position he has never played in 850 career games but where he has told Nationals manager Dave Martinez he wants to play, according to the Washington Post. “It’s just kind of him getting outside of his comfort zone and doing something different,” Martinez said. “And he’s actually not bad. I don’t know if he’ll ever start a game there, but I believe if we’re in a pinch, some kind of decisions in-game, he probably could play there. So it was good to see him out there feeling good working with [infield coach Tim Bogar]. Like I said, here’s a guy that, love him to death because he’ll do whatever it takes for this team to win and help win and that’s part of who Bryce is.” nypost.com/2018/07/03/bryce-harpers-new-position-interest-is-long-shot-yankees-path/

Gleyber Torres to DL with right hip strain NEW YORK -- After being pulled after the fourth inning of Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Braves, Gleyber Torres was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right hip strain. Torres was not in the Yankees' starting lineup on Tuesday due to stiffness in his right hip flexor, which occurred during Monday night's game. Manager Aaron Boone seemed confident that it would not be an ongoing issue. Prior to the start of Wednesday's game, Boone said that Torres had been feeling much better and was excited by how good the second baseman had felt prior to both the second and third games of the series. www.mlb.com/yankees/news/gleyber-torres-to-dl-with-right-hip-strain/c-284227430

Has over 20 home runs.. I'll still take him at 1st base. If a team would put him at 1st....he would sign elsewhere. In a Bryce Harper perfect world, the Yankees would trade Aaron Hicks, Clint Frazier, Billy McKinnley & Estevan Florial (aka: Skinny Papi). Then the Yankees sign him to play the outfield for 10 years at 350 mil.. The next best thing for this diehard Yankee fan as a child / Mickey Mantle idolizer that he inherited from his Yankee fan crazed father, is to sign with the Yankees as their 1st baseman over the next ten years. So I disagree that if he chose to switch positions from right field to 1st base, and the Yankees were interested in him as a 1st baseman, he would not sign elsewhere.

I suppose it's because he's a good teammate. I guess being willing to spot someone at a different position is a good thing. That is a far cry from choosing to play the rest of your career there at age 25.

My guess would be, it either came from his agent, Scott Bora$$ in trying to get the Yankees involved in the Harper sweepstakes, in order to drive the price up. Or, he's desperately trying to become a New York Yankee. He can still be a good teammate without switching positions.

I am a Mets fan and partial to the Yanks because they are in NY . Bringing in Harper is not changing the fact Boston has a better rotation. I don't get the logic on spending all that cash on him when it could be better utilized bolstering the 5 that make or break your season . The Sox being in first place is a testament to that.

Second, the Yankees have the better bullpen and some would argue also a better line up. Moose garnering interest from Yanks as 1B. Mike Moustakas, the Royals' two-time All-Star, is part of a crowded group of third basemen on baseball's midseason trade market. Or is he? Multiple teams are interested in Moustakas as a first baseman, sources told MLB.com Thursday, and the Yankees are among the clubs that have considered trading for Moustakas and moving him across the diamond. The Royals expect to deal Moustakas before the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, one source said. The Cardinals and Phillies are among the teams with interest in Moustakas as a third baseman, sources have confirmed via prior reporting by Ken Rosenthal and Jim Salisbury. The Yankees' overall priority remains acquiring a starting pitcher, but the team also has explored infield upgrades in recent weeks -- even before the injury to American League Rookie of the Year favorite Gleyber Torres. Without Torres, the right side of the Yankees' infield is likely to feature Neil Walker at second base and Greg Bird at first against right-handed starters. Walker has a .527 OPS this season. Bird's is .725, and the Yankees' overall OPS at first base -- .657 -- ranks 29th among 30 Major League teams. Moustakas, 29, has played more than 900 games in the Majors but started only twice at first base; both instances came earlier this year. Moustakas has not played since Monday due to back spasms; he has a .784 OPS with 16 home runs in 82 games this season. www.mlb.com/yankees/news/yankees-interested-in-mike-moustakas-as-1b/c-284453870

The loss column favors the Sox because the Yankees have 4 fewer off days for the remainder of the season than the Sox.

Am I wrong about the loss column? And are you certain that the Red Sux will not have another rainout for the remainder of the season? The Yankees will play a doubleheader in Baltimore on Monday. Lets see where they are on Tuesday morning.

Lets see where they are on Tuesday morning. No...Mathematically the Yankees and the Sox are even in the loss column...and I can't predict the rest of the season. But the fact that the Yankees have to play 4 more games than us is in our favor. Also the home/road schedule is very favorable for us. We have 10 fewer road games left. We have 6 more home games left. Essentially we have spent the first half of the season on the road and you have have spent it at home. I don't get it. The Yankees seem to have a better team but the Sox are fighters. I think our friend The Analyst is right about the Yankees depending on the HR to score. If they don't hit HR's, they get shut down. That can cause a major hitting slump.

For the record, the Yankees have an easier opponent's schedule than the Red Sux do for the remainder of the year. I'd rather have that than a few more days off. PS: You're finding wisdom from that stupid idiot?? I thought you were much smarter than that.
