But I just don't realistically see this team winning the division or a playoff spot this year, regardless of how poorly DAL and PHI are playing. Yes I want DAL to lose, and not get into the playoffs..........and I want revenge for the last game. However with this schedule I do not see that many more wins coming to us. Face it we are looking at another top ten draft pick next spring......which is fine. I think most fans believe the chance of us making the playoffs is slim, but the fact of the matter is we have a chance. Having a chance is what makes being a fan great. It's all you can ask for in sports. Wanting us to play for the draft this early in the season, knowing we're one game out of 1st, and knowing we still have games against all 3 divisional foes, has to suck. Why be a fan at this point?

I understand what your saying. But, I have some questions. As a disclaimer; this is just mental gymnastics. I haven’t seen anything to budge the 6-10 prediction. Which decisions do you think would be compromised between a 7-9 and 8-8 season? We are obligated to spend 89% of the cap. Even at 8-8 I think the worts will show. The needs would still be apparent, right? The draft pick slides to 15-20-ish, which may mean we look at the prospects differently, but I don’t think 8-8 makes us, or DG, complacent to stand put. I really think the offseason would progress the same way. RT in FA WR, LT, LB in draft. I could see WR morphing to TE if value isn’t there....you see where I’m going 7-9/8-8 missing the playoffs and backing into the playoffs even with warts means up to 10 spots in the draft, where we would be looking at players that are borderline same value you would find well into the 2nd round. Not that I'm ever into tanking, but it could mean the difference between getting CeeDee Lamb,Ruggs or Simmons and being forced to shift through whatever is left. I took my sweet time responding, and quoted some long posts. Things I don’t love to do. This is all theoretical. As I said, no reason to think anything better than 6-10 is coming, but, If we’re 8-8, that means we probably scored 2 wins against the eagles(2) , bears, lions, or cowboys. It would mean the development curve was large. I don’t wanna get sucked into target fixation draft wise with the WRs. Scrape the worts that you can with FA, and get the BPAs in April. If 8-8 is the foundation for this squad, it’s not a bad thing. The kids need to believe they can win big before they do. With all that said; I like lamb at #12 with our 6-10 record.

maybe your the delusional one thinking a rookie going through growing pains is the best chance at winning. Call me delusional if that's what a person who thinks Jones is the better option then Eli at this point to win games.. Call me whatever you want(not you)but playing Jones is the better option no matter what because wins and losses are not as important in a full mulligan type year where the entire roster is young and getting valuable reps

Personally I think we will knock of one of the 2 NFC east teams that are "better" than us and we should in my estimation be trending upwards. Paper thin depth will be the main reason this team's ceiling is 8 and 8 at best Oh and picking 20,Reagor wouldn't be s horrible consolation prize at all,Tyreek hill 2.0 on a rookie deal is fine by me

It wouldn't really matter even if the Giants won the division at 8-8 because whoever they face in the first playoff game will beat them. They're simply not a good team yet. Exactly. We have proved we can not hang with contenders. All we would win as a conflation prize; is a bottom third of the draft position.
