Happy Friday!! Better yet, happy Day 2!! What a rollercoaster night! After getting some sleep, here are a few thoughts I have: 1) Talk about a surprise! Did anyone have us drafting Toney in any scenario?? I'm not a big fan of the gadget type WR in general, so in a vacuum I'd give the pick a C+ or B-. Considering the fact we traded back and got a kings ransom in return, I give Rd1 a B+ or A- .
2) DG & Friends were trying to trade back again at #20. They waited until the last minute to make their pick, which makes me think they were taking calls. I wonder if they had their eyes set on guys like AVT or Collins.
3) Smith was clearly our guy at #11.
4) F$@! the Cowboys. I can't believe they actually traded back and "helped" a division foe.
5) The Eagles are a joke. I'm actually surprised they only gave up a 3rd to trade up, so kudos to them there, but their roster is old and full of holes. I feel bad for Smith.
6) There is a lot of talent to be had. I expect us to go after IOL and DL/EDGE on Day 2, but can still see us going in nearly any direction. Even TE or WR again. Barmore is someone to keep an eye on.
Go GMEN!!!

At first it felt like we got bent over, but I guess it worked out the best it could've.
I hope Toney becomes the next Jerry Rice.

Mentioned before, i think Dallas was blindsided by both CBs coming off the board and should have made the Bears trade.

Mentioned before, i think Dallas was blindsided by both CBs coming off the board and should have made the Bears trade. That's a great point. There weren't many mocks, if any, with two CB's coming off the board. I was giddy over the idea of drafting Smith, and was shocked to see the scenario play out the way it did. I was completely disappointed. However, once we made the trade all the disappointment went away. I honestly don't know which scenario I like better. Smith or the trade back.

IMO, Smith is a good ball player yet i ask myself, if he was playing at a school outside of the top 3 would be be as successful?

Today is where we see how good this staff really is at evaluating talent. Hopefully find a stud at OL and a pass rusher.

I'd probably be more excited if we had drafted Smith because he was the shiny object, but I moved on from the disappointment of losing out on him immediately after the trade. He could've been fantastic in our offense, but I think a lot of WR's can be good in our offense with KG and the other weapons in place. Toney: 6ft | 193lbs | 4.41 40yd | 40 inch vertical I don't know how fast Smith is, or how high he can jump, but I can't imagine his numbers are much better than the numbers above. The nearly 30lbs of weight Toney has to absorb hits is also a benefit. All in all, great start to the draft.

I could see us trading back again, honesty. With all the variables in play this year, stacking additional picks in later rounds and 2022 is the smart move all things being equal.

I really liked Smith, would have been stoked had we picked him at 11, but that's not how the draft played out. There was little we could do about it. I don't think many saw the Bronco's taking CB, and even had we known, would anyone really want us giving up additional draft picks to trade up?
Once we made the trade down, and I saw the deal, I was mollified, and I'm happy with the Toney pick. I think he will be an excellent compliment to Golliday, and perhaps we see Slayton build on what he showed us his rookie year, with a lot less pressure on him. Add one of the O Line prospects today, and we will have taken a huge step to retooling our offense.

Go GMEN!!! Don’t think Smith was ever the guy, but it doesn’t matter now. Had the Bears offered us what they did with Smith still on the board, the Giants STILL would have traded down.....WRs are a dime a dozen. A little surprised they took Toney at 20, but there are still plenty of defensive players and offensive linemen on the board.

Other notes outside of the NFC East dancing trio....
Washington got a hell of an athletic LB adding him to a great defense. They could arguably have the top defense in the league next season.
Green Bay went defense again, a CB Stokes from Georgia. Rodgers not happy even more.
Team mate draft: Lawrence-Etienne, Burrow-Chase, Tua-Waddle, Hurts-Smith, Mac Jones-Damien Harris...
Maybe we go Kyle Trask in the 2nd round and pair him with Toney? lol

No one wanted Devonte more than I. I said if he was on the board at 11 he would be a Giant and he obviously would of been the pick.
The Eagles pretty much snatched him out of our locker room. Smooth move on their part.
Such is life.
Toney is a solid addition. I feel we got enough for the trade back.
March on........

Does the team move him today or do they try to hold on to him and see what they can get from him this season? With the CB pick it really seems they are flipping him off. He is also the type of guy to throw a tantrum and just sit it out or half ass it until they dump him.

The Cowboys were actually smart in trading with the Eagles and here is why:
1) They were not taking Smith. 2) Smith was going to end up in the division anyways. It was going to be us or the Eagles since all 3 of us were right there in position to draft. 3) The Giants were not moving up because they knew the Cowboys were not going for him. 4) The Cowboys got extra picks and still got their guy.

We should start a rumor that we are taking Max Duffy with 42 so Philly panics an hops us again.

The whole conspiracy narrative around the Cowboys and Eagles getting together to give us a one two punch is the stupidest thing coming out of day 1.
There is so much good and legitimate stuff to write about on a day like yesterday.........why they chose to create a non-story boggles my mind.

We took a flyer on him, got him on the cheap. Hoping he stays healthy, but not expecting much.
