Maybe this a therapy session. I don't know but it's certainly free. My question is how do you cope as a Giants fan? Many have determined there are some serious fundamental problems with this team. Some think it's the coach / coaching staff or talent while others say it's the GM or ownership and their process. My belief is the issue is deep and for those that see it that way how do we cope knowing you keep putting in a new coach and staff, new players, new GM and still same results. Are we missing something? I heard all the Mara bashing and there could be a lot of truth in where the issues are but how as fans do we handle this? I used to say once we get a good GM and coach things will turn around. Once we get a better coaching staff it will be a huge difference and so on and so on. We all know about Einstein's definition of insanity. I am sorry to report I have a hard time with my attitude on Sunday watching this team. I just feel negative about Sunday and the future. They keep my attention just enough for me to watch and then let me down on a consistent basis. I think what makes the losing very difficult is that I don't see an end in sight. If management has a flawed system then good execution can only take place if the system is changed. If the Giants family operation doesn't change then the results will be the same as we are currently seeing. The real issue is the fans need to be the 12th man and cheer the team on and more than that believe in there team. This belief helps win games but I think many fans are wondering how the Giants lose there next game meaning there attitude is very negative. Rightfully so, do we see a great future on the horizon under this current management system? It's hard to be optimistic and it's very hard to be positive. How do you cope? I know it's not easy! Go Giants!

I have pretty much detached myself as much as I can. When the team starts losing by their own ineptness, then I turn the tv off and go do something else. Right now, the team isn't worth supporting and is hot garbage. The organization, from the top to the bottom just doesn't seem to be a cohesive unit or the right fit. Who really knows who makes what decisions, most of it is speculation, but whoever it is or they are it appears that they are all not on the same page.
In today's NFL, a team can turn it around real quick and a bottom feeder can jump to the top with the right moves and the right people making decisions but they all have to be of one accord and make some good decisions coupled with luck. Next year could be different but most of us have been thinking the same thing since the last Super Bowl win. It has become tiring.
The best way to cope is to remove the -atical part from fanatical and realize these guys are mercenaries and they don't care one iota about any of us.

Ive learned this coping mechanism a long time ago: It’s just a sport/entertainment. Far more important things in life. If the Giants are doing great: I’m happy and try to watch. If the Giants are awful: I really don’t care and do other things. I’m still a Giants fan regardless of what fans on forums, Twitter, etc try to label me. I think the Pandemic really put it in perspective for me how unimportant it is to our Daily well being. I do shift gears to watching for positives in lost seasons going forward like who stays and who goes when they hire a new GM if that happens. Other then that I do the things I love to do.

Go Giants! Its tough that they have been so bad for so long. Glimmers of hope to keep you going here and there. When they lose its sucks. I dont want to watch any other games that day because you will see the highlights of their game. Dont want to listen to sports radio for the some reasons and even into that week I dont want to here anything about football. I come on here for cathartic reasons. Unfortunately thats way too often. I am not sure what it will take for this team to get out of its decade long funk. If Jones can be that guy maybe he can get it done. Def need a change in football management from the top on down. Mara/Tisch have to step away and let much better football people get the job done.

I've gotten to the point where I don't expect much.
Last Sunday, I thought they had a puncher's chance. You know, if everything broke right for them. There was an early interception, a bad snap fumble, so I had a ray of hope but once they carted Barkley and Jones off, I'd realized that I saw this movie before.
Now, at 1-4, I'm just going to watch the game without any hope at all that they can win.

Normally it’s alternate sports. As a Giants, Mets, Rangers, Knicks fan suddenly the Knicks have somehow vaulted to the front of least frustrating organization. Crazy times we are living in.

Perspective. There are way, way more important things happening in our lives today than a stupid game.
And I have way more to be thankful for that a bunch of overpaid millionaires and billionaires could never affect.

well it's easier when your mindset about sports in general has changed over the last 5 yrs when it comes to folks in this world who should make more money than their making vs entertainers making ALL that money!! Arguing over sports and such stressing and shit when you aren't getting paid one red cent from the team. So in that regard and just accepting what they are and also that there's more important things in life that you have and want to do and need to get done. I have project mustangs and such to work on and it's a pleasure to have more time and even some on sundays as I get off from working all this OT. Feels sooo great to not have expectations and therefore not really a letdown, but when we get a game like the Saints it makes ya feel good and proud no doubt. I actually went to look up how to watch the game after the fact and found out how. Monday and tuesday night I re watched and it was gratifying. So basically that's how I cope.

I just turn the game on and if they start sucking I move on to another game..my allegiance to the Giants is being severely eroded, but its not gone so far that some good quality football couldn't bring it back, but I'm thinking that until the people who make the decisions with this team own up to being a big part of the problem I will just be a low level fan..

Leseee now...
- 10 mile hike
- 2.5 hours in the gym
- primal screaming (my neighbors love that)
- Having sex with a girl 1 ft taller and 120 lbs heavier (more pushing in the cushion ya know) makes for interesting uh.. umm times and I look over the table to my phone and see the Giants lose in the 4th qrt. Then I revert back to primal screaming

Later on with the loss to the Vikings I remember going outside and screaming. That was a tough loss. I also remember the "fumble" like it was yesterday. (I have a deep hatred for the Eagles) Me and my old man just looked at each other in shock. Horrible shock!! We didn't even speak a word to each other about it. Today I am numb!!

Over the last 5 or so years they've been out of it very early. Not enough time for me to get emotionally wrapped up in the season. So by early to mid October I'm on to different things..I'll still watch occasionally, but losses don't matter when the games don't matter.

This is what they looked like back then. This is exactly what I shattered into a million pieces

My wife would designate a corner of the room for my throws... and hid the TV clickers!! haha... On a few occasions, I would burn my Giants hat on my deck... I probably should have seeked help! Thank goodness those days are gone. Now, I just walk away and find something else to do. Oddly, when at the stadium in my seats, I'm much more subdued when things go bad.

Ya, my wife loved that one!
