Teams would get in line to sign him.. don’t let his running fool you, the kid can play the quarterback position. Again, anyone who discredits his ability is either so infatuated with Jones that they can’t see their nose in front of their face, or is an idiot. His playoff record doesn’t faze me either, Eli Manning was a bum before his magical run of ‘07. The question is, besides mortgaging your future to sign him. Are you willing to build your scheme and roster to fit his strong attributes? Because, for him to play up to his MVP status, you have to do what best fits him. Different blocking schemes, shorter passing routes. He would be a solid addition to us, and would certainly make up players in this league. Average players don’t win league MVP’s, they win player of the week awards. I actually don't think you have to change what we are going to be doing that much at all.. If anything it would enhance his ability as a passer

I do know this, he would make our running game one of, if not the best in the league. Running the ball at will over your opponent is not only a back breaker, but is a formula to winning football.

Nobody is winning super bowls running it at will in this era anymore.... It's a pass first to set up the run Proof is that Baltimore has flamed out because they have a high school level passing attack that is impossible for them to come back from deficits .. It's not 1990 anymore when this was true Daboll and Kafka understand this and a guy like Jackson would be allowed more than one read with this offense... Having the ability to run it like that after the playmakers frighten defenses into having to cover every blade of grass like all good modern offenses do would make the offense impossible to defend

Point is, running the ball has always been proven to win games in this league. Especially, here in Giants country when the temperature drops and the hits hurt that much more. Just last year, the Bills and Bengals were top five in rushing attempts. So, doesn’t matter what century it is, or what rules the league will enforce to put more points on the board. You win more than you lose when you run, successfully. As for winning the super bowl, it takes a hell lot more than having a proficient passing attack. Aaron Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the sport, and he hasn’t won dick in years. It takes a balanced attack, with a defense that destroys quarterbacks.

And the old myth that you can't pass it after November when it gets cold was busted long ago Eli in Green bay, especially the 2nd game up there Bills last year,KC since Mahomes,Brady. Fact is that nobody is winning a super bowl with an offense designed to run it 40 times a game and only pass it less that 15 times..

The secondary is a a disadvantage because of the rules. IF you put pressure on the safety's to defend the whole field including the goal post your offense has a huge leg up. Now when you do run the ball you can easily gain chunks. Not 2 or 3 yds on 1st down. Forget that! That's old NFL. Put pressure on the secondary early and often. I am not a huge fan of putting my QB in danger when the league has such advantageous rule not to. Sure RPO works and I would use it but I would never have my QB do designed runs in between the guards and tackles. No way! I know the Bills played very well the other night but toward the end of the game they IMHO were reckless with Josh A.

We don’t have the slightest clue how our offense will be, all we know is we don’t know a damn thing. If we can’t pass, it’s a giving we can’t run. It means our offense is terrible, both facets work better when they work off one another. You don’t get linebackers to bite from passing on them, it’s by running down their throat. Again, there is no perfect formula. One week we may have to run the ball 35x to win, and the next week pass the ball 53x times. You dictate your scheme to who your opponent is. And who said run the ball 40x times? Sure as shit wasn't me, I want a balanced attack, who isn’t afraid to smash the opponent. You do realize our offensive line is a work in progress, right? What better way to get the line to work as a unit by attacking the defense on the ground. As we all know, offensive lines are not what they used to be. It’s a few great ones, a bunch of ok lines, and a lot of garbage. However, hitting your opponent in the mouth is a universal language. And it takes the weight off the guys learning each other’s strengths, and weaknesses.

Lamar Jackson's playstyle reminds of Michael Vick's 2010 season. He has a speedy receiver running either a slant or a fade and if he's not available he just takes off running.
Patrick Mahomes for example had 658 pass attempts last season *nearly double* what Lamar had with only 382 pass attempts. Lamar is a fairly slim guy, so I guess the biggest question I would have on him is can his body handle him throwing the ball at least 30 times a game for an entire season?
I'm sure many of you know the RG3 and Shanahan conflict, where RG3 just wanted to be a pocket passer and Shanahan felt like RG3 needed to be eased into that role. It turned out that RG3 wasn't a pocket QB and due to multiple injuries his biggest strength being his legs was taken away.
I just don't think it would be smart to pay a guy $50 million a year when his ability to throw the ball is in question. It's possible that in his 5th year in the league he finally moves to becoming more of a pocket passer, especially considering that they just traded away Marquise Brown (his speedy receiver), but I think it's more likely that he'll now rely on his strength even more, which is his legs.

I get why he's not re-signed yet. He's a really good QB...worth big money. But his style if play means he can't have a long career doing what he does. Cam Newton is a big strong guy and he lasted a total of 10 years. Lamar, for all his gifts, which are plenty, is a slightly built guy who must be a running QB to be what makes him great. Any team would probably be on the hook for years if they signed him to a long term deal. His style of play is his undoing, regarding a long term deal. Too bad because he's a special player. The Ravens offered him Kyler money, he wants it fully guaranteed and the Ravens won't do that they aren't as stupid as some other teams. I think they would do about 150 million guaranteed. He is his own agent that is why he is unsigned. How do you know what they offered him?

Vick was an advanced passer....look at how he operated with Dan Reeves in 2002.. I think Jackson has Vick like ability.....I'm probably in the minority that if he was allowed to be in an NFL caliber passing attack and run only when necessary and on designed runs he would be lethal Any QB playing in a Greg Roman offense unfortunately needs to be questioned because he hasn't been allowed to be an NFL passer so..... And tbe draft picks plus where are we in our rebuild

Lamar Jacksons per game averages as a starter: 65% accuracy 208 ypg 1.9 Tds/game (throwing) 0.66 ints/game Daniel Jones per game averages as a starter: 62% accuracy 226 ypg 1.2 tds/game 0.76 ints/game Lamar may not throw for a lot of yards, but he's quite proficient in scoring TDs, despite a lower overall volume of passes in the air. That is exactly what you want (he averages almost 1k pards rushing on top of this) If he threw the ball downfield more, im sure he'd have prettier numbers in the air, the fact is him being able to run/pass with this sort of efficiency is rare, even when you include Mike Vick. He rarely opens things up for his RB's with his skillset, teams are always on edge. The question isnt if the Giants would consider Lamar, its if Lamar would ever consider the Giants. QB talent is damn rare in this league the man will get his $ and he should

What the Browns did was desperate and ridiculous. Jackson is being ridiculous. He has forgot how the Ravens believed in him and made him a first rounder. Go win a Championship and all the bonus money from other sources goes through the roof.

Any QB can take a bad hit and have their career ended at any point. Do you think it's more likely to happen to Lamar because of the running he does? I do. Its the amount of running and statistics. The more the QB runs the more chances of injury. If the Bills are not careful Josh A. could be effected as well. I am not a fan of heavy based running QB's especially between the guards and tackles. Off the edge and to the side line is better. And this doesn't mean that I am against all running its how its done. Just an opinion of course but how many times do you hear "protect the QB" well if that saying is true then running exposed needs to be done with caution. I was a big Allen fan coming out of College. It was a big topic of conversation(in this neck of the woods) all the unnecessary running he did when the game was going their way in every way. Allen and Dorsey became "buddy buddy" as the QB and QB coach under Daboll. Josh is on record as saying Daboll would chew him out for going off script sometimes. Sometimes it resulted in turnovers, other times big plays. I have a feeling this will be something to watch as Dorsey was chosen by Allen to be his OC, and his freelancing may become greater. He really does think he's invincible and it will be interesting to watch that relationship.

I think that's fair. I'm similar in that I don't want my QB running certain types of plays. I'd ask him to take one for the team if we're in the Superbowl and the QB run game is working, but outside of that I believe the quarterback should be limited to very specific types of runs. I'm curious as to what the data is about guys considered to be "running QBs" and injuries. There are a lot of guys who ran more than most that I don't remember being that banged up. I might be wrong though, I'm getting older and I forget details. I think Lamar will need to have a Randall Cunningham style trajectory in the league if he's going to have success long term. Run more when you're young, and do it from the pocket as you age. As well as a good OL and good receivers. Then again, what QB doesn't need those?

I've always thought Jackson has been held back by Roman, his passing philosophy is very limiting in that his qbs are not really allowed more than 1 read or a check off before the qb is instructed to run.. The reason I say this is when Jackson has to throw it due to game circumstances he has show he can do it He would be great in our system The issue unfortunately is that Baltimore will franchise him no matter what...and it will take at least 2 first round picks to get him There are at least 4 teams with multiple 1st round picks next year If Daboll and Schoen feel that same way, it might be worth it to trade draft picks for him instead of gambling on an unproven QB in the draft. I know, it take a LOT of balls to do a mega trade like this, but it could make this team dynamic on offense. Sometime you have to take big risks to get big rewards. Tampa Bay with Tom Brady, Denver with Peyton Manning and now Russell Wilson, etc... If our guys LOVE Lamars potential in our offense, 2 first round picks isnt that big of a deal. The problem, and it would be Schoens problem, is getting him on the team and not sacrificing the rest of the team from a salary cap standpoint. The cost of 2 first rounders is nothing if you think your getting an MVP Level QB. I personally wouldn't trade for him because I don't think he is going to have a long career. If he has another leg injury that takes away any of his athletic ability he is finished. He just isn't good enough from the pocket to gamble that type of money and draft picks on.

Questioning the priorities of an athlete as accomplished as Lamar Jackson is ludicrous. So what if the guy has sights beyond football? Aaron Rogers was doing commercials for State Farm ages ago and no one was questioning whether his head was in the game or not. 1-3 in the playoffs. 1 more win than Jones. far from billionaire quality....looks like the Ravens agree. If you want to use his playoff record to say he's not worth big money, fine. But I don't think it's fair to use a playoff record to suggest that football isn't his priority. Football is a team sport, last I checked. I just can't imagine that Lamar has gotten to the level he has without an intense focus on becoming a great player.

I heard Jackson wants to become the highest paid player in the league and turned down nearly a 300 million dollar contract. Wants all the money guaranteed. He was injured last year - improved his passing but nothing special in that category... I think that's a very risky contract to give a running QB coming off injury. The Chiefs have been stacked but I don't have Jackson in the Mahomes tier.
