www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/john-mara-there-are-times-when-i-wish-brian-daboll-would-tone-it-downMara publicly said he wishes Daboll would change demeanor. “There are times when I wish he would tone it down a little bit,” Mara said, via Darryl Slater of NJ.com. “But I’m also in the team meetings, and I see how he acts around his coaches in the office. And he always maintains his cool there. Does he get excitable during the games sometimes? Yeah. So do I. But I don’t think it’s a major issue. I don’t think it affects the culture that we have in the building at all. I still very firmly believe that Brian is the right guy for us going forward. I want him to be himself at the end of the day. If I get to the point where I think he’s acting irrationally and it’s affecting his performance, I certainly would have a word with him. I have not seen that.”

I don't want to hear about his view on Saquan, Daniel Jones, the draft....or anything football. Talk about the stadium, turf, rules changes......fine. But you can't be involved with decisions regarding this football team. You have sunk us into the depths of despair with your pathetic attempt to cling to the past. YOU are the problem Johnny....Period.

I've seen the preseason OTA video of Dabs totally flipping out on day one. Yeah he needs to manage his anger for sure.

Glad Mara publicly called Daboll out. Nothing else has changed his childish behavior.

Based on JS’ previous comments, Daboll has a better chance keeping his job with a 6 win season where the coaches have a better work environment, than an 8 win season where assistants are trying to head for the door for laterals.
Being tough and demanding isn’t a problem. It’s a pre-requisite for this level of competition. But losing your shit so bad that coaches are willing to take a lateral out of town (particularly because it shows we have assistants that are in demand) can’t be tolerated any longer.

In Mara's defense I wish they showed the question to him in the article instead of just the answer.
Not sure if Mara was asked directly about Daboll being fiery or what. I hate when reporters take things out of context...but still probably not something you want to say to a NJ.com reporter.

it's a big nothingburger to me. He was asked the question at the owners meetings, what was he supposed to say? I don't know why Giants fans act like he is the only NFL owner who talks about his team. The majority of his statement was about how he didn't have a problem with it, and voiced support of Daboll and the way he conducts himself.

You might as well tell a lion to get rid of its mane.. A leopard its spots.. And a tiger its stripes. In this sport where only the strong survive.. and the weak get eaten. Daboll is in the business to win games.. The hell with feelings.. Between the lines where you step up.. or get stepped on. His job is to get the most out of his players. Football isn’t for the faint of heart.. Need a friend.. go join the lonely hearts club.

John throws chairs when his team looks like ass. Brian (supposedly) verbally abuses coaches during the game.
Maybe there's a reason Brian got hired?

The one in Kansas City. I may be in the minority here, but I don't want to hear from John Mara, ever. I know that some people don't mind hearing from him. I just feel like football questions should be answered by football guys that he hired. It's cool if you disagree. I'm sure that most do.

I still think Judge got fired mainly because of how he handled the media. Mara wanted to keep him still, Tisch pushed for his firing. I think Mara would give Daboll a longer leash if there isn't all the non-sense that surrounded this team right after the season again. Will his demeanor get him fired? No. Will his demeanor plus losing get him fired? Absolutely.

I don't have any particular desire to hear from John Mara. But I don't mind when he answers a question in the appropriate forum, like the owners meeting. I never fell for the silly fan-based high cabal theories. So I'll never get the rabid reactions from fans when he makes a few benign comments once or twice a year.

it's a big nothingburger to me. He was asked the question at the owners meetings, what was he supposed to say? He should have attempted to lift a 5 pound chair in anger to this inquiring page 6 question, only to realize he has landscapers, chauffeurs, and maids to do his heavy lifting ...then fall over the now 4 inch moved chair breaking his hip.... and hopefully his jaw, reducing all future answers to NY Giant football related questions as coherent mumbling sounds, sounds that only a pug would understand.... ...yeah you.

They’re seen.. not heard. Their words carry a ton of weight and could be used to bury those under them. Besides hirings and firings.. No one gives a shit what they think. They’re forever blameless in their teflon suits.. Regardless of the outcome of a game.. they win. This lame ass story died months ago.. Mara just breathe new life into it.

The stadium that he allwed to be built that is the biggest laugh in all of pro stadiums. It is a horror show inside. I swear, if there were ever an emergency that required immediate exit 25% of the people would get lost trying to escape, and many would be trampled. The escalators are the biggest joke of all. Whoever designed them should have lost his architectural license.

I'm sorry.....You want an owner to publicly call out his head coach? Is that what you're saying? That he hired Schoen hired him. Mara rubber stamped Schoen's choice. You don't publicly call out your coach. You hitch up your big boy pants and call him/her and the GM into your office to personally and privately discuss whatever gripes you've got with him.... and the press never hears about it.
