the socks were a general insult to the profession that part I agree, its offensive to all cops. I dont like that. Because many are very good people and do their jobs well. Most of them are good people who are doing a highly dangerous job. A CHP officer was killed just a few days ago about 2 towns over from me while doing a routine traffic stop. The shooter pulled out a rifle from his car and just started shooting. I respect and appreciate law enforcement but have no respect for the ones that aren't doing their jobs properly. Those types should be losing both their jobs and their pension.

My god father is a cop and my son is a cadet. What makes ppl think being against brutality is hating all cops? Why would it make him upset to see a few players kneeling against it. If he is a good cop he shouldnt mind, cops are ppl like us , some do good things and some bad. the socks were a general insult to the profession Absolutely. It was ridiculous

I can answer that...never, not once, have I ever heard this is about "some cops and that some or most cops are good". It's about a racist police department and it's racist members...he's one of those members, and he is being lumped in with the few cops that are racist. If you think it's enjoyable and relaxing to go somewhere and have people protest your job as being racist...good for you. Well you are probably right ,, they do not do a good job of saying it not all cops that are doing bad things. I think some of that issue could be cops tend to cover for the bad ones but i hear you on that., I know some great cops . i also think its more than racism , but just overall abuse of power and lenient sentences and a very low conviction rates if a cop does commit a crime.

To me, the protest seem a bit lazy. First game is in Dallas? Make the protest about a specific incident in Dallas. Point specifically at something/someone. And if this really matters to you, do something additional on your own time to try and make a difference.

The problem with Barkley getting himself involved in the Kap issue is that it becomes controversial. Barkley plays in NY where the media eats this stuff up. The result is now it becomes a distraction for him, for the coaching staff, and for the team.
And for him to say he doesn't care if he loses or upsets fans by speaking his mind is really dumb since fans buying tickets and watching him on TV pay his salary.
If he's smart he will cool it. We'll see how smart he really is.
Extremely stupid of him.

You see how none of those things is pointing directly at some people and saying, "you are doing something evil", right? And that those people have friends and family who may not be happy to spend their free time hearing how the people they lover are doing something evil. My brother-in-law is a cop...you think he wants to go to a game and be called out? You think I want to take him to a game? My god father is a cop and my son is a cadet. What makes ppl think being against brutality is hating all cops? Why would it make him upset to see a few players kneeling against it. If he is a good cop he shouldnt mind, cops are ppl like us , some do good things and some bad. Well, from what I see, this is causing a huge issue for ALL COPS, good and bad. Cops are all being lumped together as being power abusing assholes. Just look at what is going on right now in the streets. Look how people are acting towards the cops. Not only the water incidents but the actual setting up of police getting shot. Innocent ICE agents having their lives risked by bombing/ shooting up the facilities for doing their jobs. This is the division that is not good for anyone and its unacceptable what politicians are spewing and condoning for a vote right now. And the kneeling is just making the divide worse because its perceived as an ANTI-COP movement.

Nearly everywhere I've been there's a serious decline in the confidence and trust in police officers. There are many good policemen, but if they don't adhere to the "blue code" and go along with, or ignore the illicit activities of their fellow officers, they won't be in the force for long.

Police, Politics, Hollywood, Sports, Church, Business, Education, Military, you name it. Its being corrupted and abused by someone.

There is corruption in almost every organization but very few of those organizations afford the power over life and death as it does to Police. Unarmed Black men are getting shot by Police at a disturbing rate. There is a problem and it needs to be corrected.

Thats not my point though. As for it being needed to be corrected, kneeling is certainly having the reverse affect IMO. It is making a large crowd of citizens act more aggressively towards law enforcement, and therefore, making there jobs more difficult to react appropriately in a split second. So if a white cop is in a mostly black community, and trying to get the person of interest to follow his orders so he is safe, but that person is resisting or reaching in his pocket, it most likely wont end well, even if that person did not have a weapon. As I said before, I definitely understand there are issues with some police officers right now, no one is denying that, but it isnt being made any easier by these protests and demonstrations.

Absolutely. Its terrible. Speaking of abusing powers of church, Joel Osteen is one of the biggest frauds in the world. Also the Hollywood sex scandals that get covered up was/is pretty bad as well. And if you think Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide, I got a bridge to sell you.

While there have been coverups since the beginning of time, it seems they get worse and more blatant. I may be wrong, but Joe Kennedy and the clan seemed to be most prolific regarding coverups. The Kennedy assassination was the epitome. The Epstein thing is yet another insult to our collective intelligence.

The best thing for these organizations to do is to root out the bad apples and publicly hold them accountable for their misconduct. They should stop covering things up and abusing their power. I will say this until I die: people need to unite and acknowledge the problems and then aggressively head towards solutions.

Anyways, my opinion of Barkley has not changed one bit. He is still a great kid and role model. Even if I disagreed with his beliefs, I would not hold them against him. If you are no longer a fan of his because of this, that is a "you" problem.

These guys are far from angels and after watching 4 seasons of Last Chance U on Netflix, my opinions have worsened.

That's what they are to me.
I would just rather not know what any of them think about controversial issues. The only people who have the ability to influence me are the people around me. Those who have earned my trust.

If you are no longer a fan of his because of this, that is a "you" problem. and that is exactly what Saquon is saying..... I don't think anyone knows exactly what he's saying or thinking when he's making the statement, "I don't care if I lose fans," but to a degree, the implication furthers the point as to why this stuff has no place in the game and why players have no place in saying it. Telling some of the fans "they have a problem," would be the same thing as making some sort of pathological, novice diagnosis of why they aren't fans of these comments, to the extent that it pathologizes people. Pathologizing other people is an ego-based behavior, because the people doing it can't look honestly at their own behavior or beliefs (I'm probably pathologizing saying that, LOL) and dismisses any legitimate case the fans are making about why it's poison for the game and pointless for the cause. When you think about Barkley, you don't associate him with ego-based behavior, hence the title of the thread, "Are we going to have to worry about him now?"

Great let them speak out on there own time. My employer will not allow me to protest anything on their time .Kap is not a good QB and has been out of the game now 3 years .He's done. That is not true nor legal. You're here on your companies time (I assume), expressing your opinions and I don't think you'll be receiving a pink slip. Saying Kap isn't a good QB is a cop out. I can name you worse QB's in the league. Why is Nate Peterman on a roster? Why is Geno Smith on a roster? Is Alex tanny and Kyle Lauletta better than Kap? You'd have a hard time proving that and the fact that some of you make these blanket statements about his skill set without seeing him play is outrageous. Chad Kelly break into someones house, gets into fights and he's still on a team. Baker Mayfield runs from cops on camera and he's still on a team. Guys knock their girlfriends out and they are still on teams, but kap doesn't get a shot for kneeling.... Lord this country is F---D. I really want the players to pool their resources and leave the league all together to form their own league. Have you guys cheering for a bunch of bums. Some people only care about minorities when it comes to their sports team, but once the game is over, y'all can care less about the players or their communities. I think the players need to stop making money for everyone else and start their own league. Let the race trolls go watch what's left.

Kap's not playing for a few reasons. To some he is a marginal, controversial player who is a distraction. Someone mentioned Tebow in the same light. Good comparison in that way. Just too much baggage with guys like this. There are some teams who would sign him but not for what he wants to be paid. He apparently wants #1 QB money and to be the #1 guy. Not gonna happen. Denver was willing to sign him to a decent contract but Kap said no.
Kap has been out of the game for a few years now. All that time he could have been learning the game.
Yes, there are QBs on teams that he outclasses in some ways but these guys are backups being paid backup salaries that he won't accept.
If Kap would sign for a cheap contract plus incentives based on performance he get signed most likely.
How much is Nike paying him? Millions? He doesn't need to play. He does need to stay relevant in the media which it seems he is doing.
He's got it made with his Nike deal. He probably really has no interest in playing.

He settled for less the 5% of the original Lawsuit. him and Reid wanted 100 million each . If they had a case . Why would they settle for that. The NFL gave them go away money so they did not have to pay their lawyers to fight it. It was cheaper. NFL paid them because it would’ve been an embarrassment to NFL if they had gone to court and had all their nonsense come out. You have a link for the 5 percent settlement? Really He turns down 7 million dollar contract to play . Opens up a 100 million dollar laws suit after he turn the contract down . Then settles for under 5. www.nytimes.com/2019/03/21/sports/colin-kaepernick-nfl-settlement.html

Proves he doesn't want to play, just complain. He want's to be a victim. If he plays he is exposed to what he is a backup QB. A victim can soap box for as long as he want's to.
