Mariano Rivera Being Named 91st Best MLB Player of All Time is Insulting The Athletic has compiled a list of their choices for the 100 greatest MLB players of all time. On Friday, they released their selection for the 91st best player, and it is a bit of a head-scratcher. Mariano Rivera comes in far to low on this list at 91, and it's borderline insulting when you look at his lengthy and entirely unique résumé. The 13-time All Star, five-time World Series champ, three-time MLB saves leader, and 2003 ALCS MVP (just to name a few of his many accomplishments) deserves to be much higher on this list. His contributions to the game will almost certainly overshadow those of the numerous players who will be included ahead of him on the top 100. And all because he's "just a closer," right? Diminish his limited time spent on the field all you want, but Rivera warrants more respect than this. His position as the league's all-time saves leader speaks volumes to what he did as a professional baseball player during his 19 seasons with the New York Yankees. www.12up.com/posts/mariano-rivera-being-named-91st-best-mlb-player-of-all-time-is-insulting-01dx4dhz1k0bI guess that means no other reliever will be on the list, cause he's the best that's ever been, and that is not debatable. Guess they don't value the pen, First unanimous player inducted in the HOF, and he is the 91st best player in baseball history... lol The Athletic.... I cant believe they want people to pay for their site

Domingo suspended 81 games, 18 of which were counted in 2019. So he will miss 63 games in 2020. Earliest he can pitch is June 5th.

The world series wins should be vacated, like Lance Armstrong's tainted TdF wins.

Should the Yankees vacate their WS win with Arod? Or how about the one with Roger Clemens?
You guys crack me up. You have Boston on the brain and I dig it.

I'll bite. Absolutely bitter about this. You should know why. Lets seriously talk about this and put away our teams rooting interests aside. 2017 Yanks lost to the Astros in the ALCS (Astros hitters were insane that year, Altuve wins MVP (should have been Judge)) 2018 Yanks lost to the Red Sox in the ALDS (Red Sox hitters were insane that year, Betts wins MVP) 2019 Yanks lost to the Astros in the ALCS (Astros continued to cheat this way as multiple videos have shown while the Red Sox fell back to earth hitting wise) Astros and Red Sox both are being pinned for cheating by sign stealing in those seasons. The investigation is still going on so it will be interesting what they turn up. Now, Im ok with the normal sign stealing. The guy at 2nd base peering in at the catcher and maybe relaying the sign to the hitter. If that happens, and you dont correct it by beaning the hitter or shuffling up signs, then shame on you. Its baseball and thats how it is. Whats not cool is having video rooms or banging on drums to notify hitters in real time what pitch is coming. To me that is worse than the steroid era where more than half the players were on and MLB ALLOWED it for ratings. The immediate impact of knowing a breaking ball is coming on an 0-2 count in the playoffs from a pitcher who regularly throws over 100 MPH is much more damaging than a Barry Bonds roided out of his mind hitting 73 HRs. Are they both wrong and cheating? Yes. I couldnt imagine what Aaron Judge could do if he knew when a breaking pitch was coming or a fastball (or if he was on steroids). He could probably hit 73 HRs easy. IMO, Alex Cora should be banned from baseball if this is all true. Pete Rose style. He is the connection between Houston and Boston in 2017 and 2018. If what they are saying turns out to be true, the championships those 2 years were directly altered by the hot bats of a team who knew what pitches were coming. Im sure there is a sign that says "No Video Cams Allowed" somewhere in these stadiums much like Pete Roses "No Gambling" sign does. By the way, cant the Boston Cheat Party clean up one cheating scandal (Spygate 2.0) before another pops up? Man. No wonder Boston was the city of champs for the 2000s so far. Much like the 1900s though, Bosont may have owned the first 20 years of the century, but the NY teams will get the next 80. :-)

I hate to break it to you, and I say this as a guy who played a lot of baseball....EVERY team steals signs. It's part of the game. Even the innocent little Bambi's known as the New York Yankees steal signs.
For fans to play the victim card in this is about as foolish as it can be.

Right on. Then I can expect MLB to come down on EVERY team then after their very thorough investigation.

Why Clemens, he never failed a test, it's all hyperbole, and Arod was clean during that year, so no need to vacate.

Mookie Betts set to make $27m in arbitration in 2020. Wow. So much for arbitration being a team friendly thing.
So I guess he is staying for 2020 in Boston. Doubt any team is trading anything of value for a 1 year player making $27m unless Boston throws in money. As he said he is testing FA next year.

The Yankees farm system last season wasn’t nearly as highly regarded as it was a couple of years ago, but it looks like that’s about to change entering 2020. Throughout the Yankee system, the future looks very bright but as it is with every organization, there are prospects who stick out more than the rest and project to impact the major league roster sooner rather than later. Here are some of the names to keep an eye in 2020. First, the top 10: OF Jasson Dominguez RHP Clarke Schmidt RHP Deivi Garcia RHP Luis Gil INF Oswald Peraza INF Anthony Volpe RHP Luis Medina RHP Roansy Contreras RHP Alexander Vizcaino RHP Albert Abreu Atop Baseball America’s list is 16-year-old CF Jasson Dominguez, who hasn’t even played in a professional game yet. Although Dominguez isn’t someone who is going to impact the major league club this season or the next there’s no doubt he is going to be a fast riser that could make his debut before he turns 20. The switch-hitting phenom has all the tools to be a superstar and could be a generational talent according to scouts. Dominguez was the top international prospect available in the 2019 class before the Yankees signed him last July to a record $5.1M deal. He’s been given nicknames like the “teenage Mike Trout” and “The Martian” so expectations for him coming up through the Yankee system are going to be sky-high, but for good reason. BA gave Dominguez a grade of at least 60 (20-80 scale) in every skillset and a 70 when it comes to power and running. Those are the types of grades you usually see for a player in the upper levels of the minors. The fact that he’s already considered the Yankees top overall prospect tells you all you need to know about how incredibly talented this kid is and what the future could hold for him in pinstripes. yanksgoyard.com/2020/01/10/yankees-top-prospects-baseball-america/

They are so close to doing the right things.... then this again. Gardner has his hot spells but he always cools off in October. I guess he is good for a 4th OF defensive replacement for Stanton. But way overpaid for that role. Hicks injury kills us again...
