So, mock if you will, but rest assured Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has either approved, ignored or scoffed at this seven-round mock draft for his team ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. Each week leading up to the April 23 start of the draft, The Post, with help from Fanspeak’s mock draft simulator, will take a stab at the 10 players the Giants might select, based on reporting, reading tea leaves and abject guesswork. Here is Giants mock draft No. 1: Round 1 (pick 4 overall) — LB Isaiah Simmons, Clemson In this simulation, the Giants have their choice of Simmons, Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah or any of the top-rated offensive tackles, with Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown a surprise pick of the Lions at No. 3. Okudah is difficult to pass up but the signing in free agency of James Bradberry and selection of DeAndre Baker in the first round last year somewhat mitigates the need for a corner this high. And so, for the first time since 1984, the Giants in the first round take a linebacker. Of course, Simmons is multi-positional and just like that, the Giants have an impact player on defense and the very definition of a modern-age defensive weapon. Round 2 (pick 36 overall) — S Xavier McKinney, Alabama The Giants double-up on defense and land the best safety in the entire draft, a versatile player who can line up deep, in the slot or in the box. His skill-set is more akin to a cornerback and that makes him especially attractive. Passing up an offensive tackle is tough to do here, but McKinney’s value is too high to dismiss and the Giants believe they now have a safety tandem, pairing McKinney with Jabrill Peppers, for years to come. Xavier McKinneyAP Round 3 (pick 99 overall) — OT Saahdiq Charles, LSU Starting nine games at left tackle for the national champions is the good news. Missing six games because of disciplinary issues is the bad news. The Giants are willing to take a chance on a 321-pound youngster with room to get bigger and stronger and the potential to challenge for the starting right tackle job sooner rather than later. Round 4 (pick 110 overall) — C Nick Harris, Washington There was some consideration taking Harris in the third round and, lo and behold, he was still on the board 11 picks later. Not ideal size or strength but extremely smart and scrappy, and this is a position of need. Submit questions on your favorite New York teams to be answered in an upcoming mailbag Round 5 (pick 150 overall) — EDGE Jonathan Garvin, Miami Long, agile athlete nicknamed “Spider’’ had 5.5 sacks as a junior but was not as effective in 2019. The potential is there as a pass-rusher but it must be coached out of him. Round 6 (pick 183 overall) — RB Mike Warren, Cincinnati A running back, you say? Well, you add talent wherever you can and Warren gained 1,329 yards and 1,262 yards the past two seasons. Plus, in that span he ran for a total of 33 touchdowns, so he knows his way into the end zone. Round 7 (pick 218 overall) — EDGE D.J. Wonnum, South Carolina Not many Gamecocks are named permanent team captains, but Wonnum is one of them. Good value here for a player with 29.5 career tackles for loss and 14 sacks. Round 7 (pick 238 overall) — WR Lawrence Cager, Georgia After three seasons at Miami, Cager spent 2019 at Georgia, where he caught 33 passes for 476 yards and four touchdowns. The attraction here is his size: 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds. Round 7 (pick 247 overall) — CB John Reid, Penn State Lack of size at 5-foot-10 and 187 pounds could be an issue but this guy is a competitive slot corner, similar to another former Penn State player the Giants already have on the roster: Grant Haley. Round 7 (pick 255 overall) — OT Victor Johnson, Appalachian State Making 51 career starts at left tackle as a four-year starter is enough for the Giants to take a chance on a developmental tackle as this year’s Mr. Irrelevant. nypost.com/2020/03/31/giants-nfl-mock-draft-isaiah-simmons-is-start-of-defensive-boost/

I don’t want Simmons but I understand those who want him on our defense.
You lost me though with McKinney being more of a need than a OT. Trying to fill the OT need with an LSU discipline rap sheet prospect is a swing and a miss.
More of a Crock Draft than a Mock Draft.

That's all I do with his posts now If this draft happens we won't see a winning season for 5 to 7 years and the team will be as irrelevant as the Jets

I assumed this was a coaching thing ....Bettcher's complicated system using zone, and his being a better press CB? .

I assumed this was a coaching thing ....Bettcher's complicated system using zone, and his being a better press CB? . Or an elaborate way to smokescreen interest in Okudah (For the record...to kill the "GL hates defense narrative "(which should be debunked with how many times I've mentioned in would run to the podium if Young was there) If we had traded up for a T like I thought we were..Ford? Or stayed at 37 and take Reisner(who I think played well as a RT as a rookie,Okudah would probably be up there with Lamb as my 1/1a in every mock I do and probably moreso with how deep the WRs are... An excersise in how one move dictates a future draft board the following year)

I like Harris as a center. This is how he is described... Scrappy? What does that even mean? He's an undersized zone blocking specialist, a very good second level blocker...and his pass blocking improved last year. I'm flabbergasted at the lack of tackles priority given by a small but vocal fanbase. Mind numbing how some fans hate the guys who block...and quite odd to ignore the Daniel Jones is our QB going into year 2, Solder being the worst graded LT in the league regarding pressures...a swing tackle signed, no centers...Barkley running into piles because we could not block vs coaching...it is quite confusing. Safety more important then OL?...yeah, that's about as obvious a troll post as you will find. Here's some nice video on Harris vs a very good defense...I have NO problem taking him...Eason vs Herbert

Get him at 5...let him rest and heal up as a backup and very good chance we stole the other starting tackle for us in 2021

Was Adams 1st healthy season since his freshman year..so yeah being a bit slow is to be expected Other than that he has a sound foundation to still be a guy good starting tackle.. Probably why coming to a team that will have an opening for a starting tackle in 2021 would be best for him to regain the quickness he had. Of course if we ignore the fab 4 the next GM gets the chance possibly to take the Oregon tackle early if we suck bad enough (that's if Jones isn't punch drunk and we have to think about replacing him. )

IMHO, ignore the safety is more important than o- tackle posters...they seem to be irritating you on purpose. Oh, in case posters don't know the Outland winner you are talking about.. Penei Sewell 58 LT for the Ducks vs Auburn and that famed DL...this guy would be in the running OT1 THIS year...as a sophomore....this is a generational tackle.

of defensive boost! It is called a Mock Draft for a reason. It is not real or authentic, but harboring no intention to deceive. Irrelevant. nypost.com/2020/03/31/giants-nfl-mock-draft-isaiah-simmons-is-start-of-defensive-boost/I like both the first players. McKinney would be a good get in the second round. Solid Safety with speed that plays the ball well, questionable tackler though. Very weak safety class IMO, this may cause McKinney to go in the first round, but I wouldn't be spending a first on him. I think Simmons could do very well with someone like Martinez next to him always getting him in the right spot. Again, I hope we'd be able to get a trade back before picking him at 4 though.

OT being more of a need than S is debatable. did you see a safety on that roster last year that could cover, tackle, ballhawk? how many big passing plays given up deep? your comment is more clown shoes than a real, informed comment. I’d bring up “ did you happen to notice how many times DJ almost got broken in half last season “ ? But after reading your comment I gathered you didn’t. Don't bother He apparently wants to throw endless major assets at the defense every year and just wants the offense to be functional. In an era and league where it's passing, scoring and offensive league and games are officiated to help the offense and penalizes good defenses Then insults posters that call him out with logic and then spins it to accuse those of us with logic of personal attacks..(like he did with you) He conveniently forgets we have Peppers(who was very good despite Betcher not really knowing how to use him)and Love who needs time ... He fits right in at that other forum where our former riff raff spew hot takes all day..

Of course if we ignore the fab 4 the next GM gets the chance possibly to take the Oregon tackle early if we suck bad enough ( that's if Jones isn't punch drunk and we have to think about replacing him. )I don't see it...all free agency points to OL...if we don't protect Jones, never mind the fumbles, we'll be in the Trevor Lawrence tank fest once Colt McCoy takes over for an injured Daniel Jones, and DG is blamed for again, not securing an OL....and the new GM has to decide on new coaches, and Jones vs Lawrence. The hot take clique around here.... Just post what you did or a lol Because that's all they're good for.... On what planet is an athletic toy cover linebacker and a safety more important that a premium position like LT or even Rt or C... Blockers And those 2 positions are useless without a D line

The girl with the curl in her hair if you will. And, he absolutely hates Daniel Jones. For mental gymnastics sake; if this guy took Guidry, Hightower, Peopkes-Jones, or Watkins in the 5th instead of an edge rusher with 5 sacks in 2018.... We’d have to pray DJ survives and give him a mulligan year. Probably need to buy a tackle in March 2021...nevermind. This mock sucks

Did you happen to notice how many games we had the lead (even with the current OL) and then lost the game late when the D couldnt stop the other team from scoring? I agree the OL is important. But unless he is truly the BPA, picking an OT at 4 just for need is silly.

There is no agenda This guy is just a moron that got paid to write a troll caliber hot take draft who is absolutely clueless on how to build a team correctly And we have.people here sucking him off because it supports their narrative

The closer and closer we get to the draft the more and more I see Gettleman taking Simmons. I want a trade down as the number one option. If they stay where they are I want one of the OTs or Simmons.
I would have a hard time getting too mad with a first 3 rounds (no trade back) like Simmons, Prince Tega Wanogho (or other OT), and Edge or Center in round 3.

Not the way I was thinking but I do see the value of going defense as well. It's just a matter of what you think will help us most. Don't think there's a bad choice here.
If we get Simmons and McKinney with our first 2 picks nobody should be disappointed. Personally I don't think McKinney or Delpit at Safety last to the 2nd rd. But we'll all find out soon enough. But that would be 2 defensive standouts. And our Starting secondary of McKinney and Peppers at Safety and Bradbury and Baker at CB would look awful promising to me.

So you would be willing to have a malfunctioning O line with a young qb that has to learn a new system without any OTAs and the game still having to slow down for him.. Basicly you want a new GM to pick a new QB in s few years by being OK with this scenario 2 non priority positions 1 and 2 when the priority has to be build around Jones

McKinney has one weakness - tackling. Simmons takes bad angles and struggles to shed blockers. Yes let’s take them both. Why choose to provide protection for our franchise QB - he’s proven he can take hit after hit after hit........
