And this is the only reason I justify doing this. Disclaimer...
Young makes this defense a monster (I then sign Williams and then extend Tomlinson because we now have our front 3 set for years and they are young and improving)in the front 7..... he to me is the best player in the draft...
But
We still have gaping holes at both OTs......
If we sit at 36 we probably also lose out on any chance of having even a decent chance of a day one instant upgrade at T.....
So
This is my plan
1.the defense will have to be done as far as adding anything else meaningful this year,Young takes care of getting the difference maker....
2.Im trading back into the 1st ...but now the dilemma...
We still need a day one instant upgrade at C..... not having our regular 3rd hurts...
I'm targeting Jones or Jackson...
So
I'm trading this year's 4th,next year's 3rd and maybe throw in Engram if we have to(Smith and Tohilo could be a good 12 and a late round pick).
So
Young
Jones
Biadesz
Quez Watkins (the outside dynamic playmaker we need to compliment Slayton)
Other stuff..
Again
Young is the only reason we do this .....
But I'd be very happy with this plan B

Absolutely, I would think that almost everyone is on board if somehow Young falls to us. We'll adjust the next 2 picks to get good players.

If Young falls you basically have to take him. After that it gets tricky. We have so many holes, clearly OT as mentioned, that it would be very tempting to jump back into the first to secure “their guy” at the back end of the first.
Personally I’d stay out with round two and take their preference of Prince, Bartch, Peart, Wilson, etc.
I think it’s possible all of those guys are there when we are on the board again. All of them have the ability to be very good pros. I’m no more sold on Jones/Jackson than these guys tbh
If they did do it I would have a hard time getting upset with it because it is such a glaring need, but we also have so many other needs that trading up rather than backwards to acquire more picks would be risky. Honestly I’d consider making back in round 2 for more picks.
Something like Young, Prince, Hennessy, BPA, Quez Watkins, etc... would be beyond a HR in my opinion

If we get Young and one of the next tier OT's or Ruiz, something like that, it would be a great 1 - 2 punch to start the draft, even if we had to trade back up into the first to secure the O Lineman. I'll be pumped if this occurs (disclaimer, I think the likelyhood of Young falling to be pretty slim, in which case, I hope we take our pick of OTs)

IMHO, Wilson lacks feet...speed edges are going to toast him in the NFL. He won't even be able to handle the RT, let alone be a left. He is the definition of starting guard in the NFL...and will be a good one. |

I know you all will think I'm crazy but I'm not going to be willing to give Young the money he will want in five years so I say trade the pick if he falls to us. I'd rather have one of the Fab Four and definitely if I'm also getting another day 1 starter.

Not sure if I'd want to trade up. If anything, I'd still be for trading back, if anything.
There is so much depth in this draft at positions of need. If Young falls, which isn't nearly as far fetched as it may appear, I'd stay the course.

I realize this Which is why I said and maintain if Flemming is our day one starter and starts the entire year we have failed as an organization this offseason,especially the draft.(and the reason isn't Young why it's this way) There is no way around this |

The lower we go the more we get. I am not saying that will happen. It is not out of the question. Believe me I have not changed my stance on taking an OT at 4. Doesn't mean I am right. My mind is seeing other options and how they might play out. Some of them are possible. |
