www.bigblueview.com/2020/4/17/21225252/dave-gettleman-ny-giants-will-seriously-entertain-moving-down-from-no-4-nfl-draft-rumorsGettleman said Friday on a pre-draft conference call with New York media that trading down is something he “will very seriously entertain.”
Perhaps adding fuel to the trade-down fire Gettleman said he was still “working through” the options when asked if there was a single player — like Daniel Jones or Saquon Barkley — he was prepared to bang the table for as the team’s Round 1 pick.
Gettleman admitted that the logistics of working remotely could complicate making on-the-clock decisions to execute trades.
“I’m going to make calls. Anybody that wants to move up I’m going to say listen we don’t have much time, we can’t fool around and I’d like to get the parameters of a deal in place before we get on the clock,” Gettleman said. “That would be the best thing.”
Gettleman added that time limits as the draft gets later will make it “tight” to try to execute trades in the middle to late rounds.
“I think what’s going to happen is what this is going to force everybody to do is to do deals before their pick is up,” he said. “Make a deal off the clock and then if a guy is there for the team that wants to move up then they’ll consummate the trade.”

Makes sense. Get a deal in place with the teams that might want to move up. When draft day comes it's easy. At least that should work for round 1, but I'm doubting we trade back at this point. I think these QB needy teams will see what comes to them.
Also I am pretty sure that is not how you use the word consummate...unless part of the trade deal is having sex with the other GM to make it official lol.

Since I don't watch much college football my knowledge of the players is limited. I look up the top 10 or 15 mocked players prior. After that forget it. So when the Giants draft from round 2 on I have fun looking up the players they pick to reed up on them.

The posts/threads on here help out too because members are always bringing up different players players. Even fringe players.

I am fine with it depending on how far down they move. Out of the top 10? It would have to be quite the haul.

Yeah but you didn't want them. If you ran the team and traded back you would have taken Rosen. Hind sight is always 20/20. I am good with Barkley as our pick. Nelson was my #2. We got Hernandez who was the 2nd best OG in that class IMO. Would our OL be drastically better with Nelson instead of Hernandez? Probably not. Chubb is a stud, it's truly a shame about his knee.
Honestly though we have no idea what was offered to us, so kind of tough to judge. If it was Buffalo then we miss Chubb and Nelson. McGlinchey would have been nice, but then again that is hindsight you would have wanted Rosen and I would have wanted Roquan Smith. Too many variables and unknowns. I'm just happy Barkley isn't on another team.

Thats a lie that has been floating around here for a while. And has been cleared up many many times, over and over. Did I like Rosen? Yes. Did I have him ranked only behind Mayfield for the QBs? Yes. Did I think he was going to be good if he wasnt a Brown or Jet (said many times), yes. He was not my first choice though. Obviously I was wrong on him being a good greta QB although he never had a chance the way things rolled out. I was perfectly fine building the trenches with an OLman like Nelson and a pass rusher like Chubb. I always want to build the trenches. Always. I wanted Josh Allen last year. I wanted Tunsil the year we drafted Apple. I wanted Ramczyk the year we drafted Engram.

What if we traded back to Buffalo, they took Allen, Nelson is gone, Chubb is gone. I would have wanted Roquan Smith and you at that point would have wanted Rosen because the other QBs were gone. It's just tough to judge in hindsight without knowing any of the details or the team even.
So I'm happy we got a great talented player. Can never go wrong drafting great players IMO.

A few teams want to get for Simmons or Brown they are saying.

And a bunch of in between the lines one can speculate and twist towards a narrative of choice which I won't get into Getting trades worked out now is a wise idea When DG and Pettit spoke today think he made it clear there is pressure to get the OL straight. And he sounded like if there is an offer he is moving some have suggested that if he could move down one and just pickup an extra 2nd or 3rd from Miami he should take it. Should be interesting as I said before if someone offers enough would he get out of the top ten. Not sure he admitted to feeling the heat to get the line right for SQB and Jones.

If they do trade back I think they make sure they can still get a top LT. So not too far back.

Agree it actually sounds like Gettlemen is feeling the heat to get OL right so they can see Jones and SQBs full potential. I think it is a possibility the he throws multiple picks at the OL a couple high and one of those 7ths. Could be smoke but it sure sounds like he is feeling the pressure and he has been known to throw lots of assets at one position if it is a weak link.

Because the only players close to Barkely's talent in the top half of this draft is Young / Okudah and Brown and one will be gone and the other 2 are positions that have been addressed heavily in the last 2 years.
