Now that the dust has settled, let’s go on record. 10-6. I think it’s a possibility if things go our way and lord knows things have not gone our way in a long time. Isn't a prediction supposed to be what you think WILL happen...not what's a possibility?

10-6 If 3 or more key injuries pile up start subtracting wins There WILL be injuries (like on every team, every year). So - essentially - you're saying the Giants will be 10-6 if the IR stays nearly-empty, and if it doesn't (and, it won't) they could be anywhere from 9-7 to 0-16. Can't say I blame you...hedging your bets is always a smart strategy

That's a very good question.

I think our offense will have a few explosive games, the question is can they function v Ds like the Jags do it's a good week 1 test. If we can function v the Jags it bodes very well for us all year as few teams have a D like them. If they are living in the backfield or forcing Eli to rush while stomping the running game it's a really bad sign. My eyes will be on Eli and how many times he actually goes through his progressions and route tree v going to his checkdown.

Manning is a solid progression guy when there is more to a play than the slant/flat read.

That Jags D twice gave up 40+ in the last 5 games including playoffs. A really GREAT D does not give up 40+ once in the regular season let alone in the playoffs. 85' Bears, 00 Ravens, 02 Bucs never gave up 40pts. 85' Bears gave up 38 in their only loss to Miami who we all know was highly determined to not let them go undefeated. Most pts Ravens D allowed in 00' was 36 in a win over J-ville. Most pts Bucs 02' D allowed was 26 in a season opening loss to the Saints. Those 3 teams gave up under 200pts in those seasons, Jags D gave up 268 & had 6 losses & also allowed 37 pts in a loss to the Titans. People really need to stop hyping that team up as being so tough, they really aren't. That "great" D blew a 10pt 4th qt lead to NE in the playoffs as well in a game where Gronk went out in the 2nd qt with a concussion. J-ville had the ball 35+ min in that game but could only muster 20pts & the D despite being well rested & playing only 24+ min gave up 24pts. People blowing too much smoke up that team's butt IMO.

OK, so we should run all over that defense come Sunday. No excuses.

Hater/cowboy fan... Can't figure out which one yet... I prefer the term rational fan. I do also since that's what you are... There are just so many Giants sites where the common response to those who say something like what BiS stated where you get those two options in return.. I'm pretty sure that BiS understood my response since we've had history together at other sites..

Hater/cowboy fan... Can't figure out which one yet... hater? What the hell are you talking about? He facetiously posted that as a "retort" to my question to you. A question that can be construed as "anti Giants" because it's not all rah-rah like. And now back to the discussion. Do you mind answering the question? Thanks.

I've answered that question in this thread so feel free to go back. I'm not really looking to engage a conversation with you. Here are your only other posts in this thread: i hope so but I doubt it. The offense looks too good to just sleep over. The point is, there's absolutely no reason for teams to look at the offense and believe they "should" win considering the offense's potential. I certainly hope some teams sleep on us, but that's highly unlikely with Eli, ODB and Barkley on the roster So your answer/support is merely "with Eli, Beckham and Barkley" on the roster? If that's the extent of your reasoning then there is no way to actually engage in conversation with you.

The point is, there's absolutely no reason for teams to look at the offense and believe they "should" win considering the offense's potential. I certainly hope some teams sleep on us, but that's highly unlikely with Eli, ODB and Barkley on the roster. There are actually plenty of reasons. It's not about sleeping on anyone. Fan's attitudes don't effect the team's. I'm just telling you that the games we think our team "should" win are the same games opposing fans think THEY "should" win.
You seem to be going with the "on paper" argument. because we have yet to see it on the field.
Everyone has an inflated view of their own team, like we see here. We were 3-13 last year and the only team that was worse didn't win a game. And we had our starting QB all year.
Suggesting we are now some kind of juggernaut seems unreasonable to me.
Who knows what 2018 will bring. With all these new players, many of whom are outcasts from other teams, a completely new staff with brand new schemes, it's easy to think we might struggle, especially early.
And who knows where the injuries will fall. But we know they are coming. It's the NFL. They always do.
I'm not under the belief that this is the same 3-13 team as last year. Here are some reasons why this offense will be MUCH better than last year. 1) No more Macadoo..It's that simple. He was terrible and coaches could've actually slept on the Giants offense all week knowing there isn't much to study. HC is a massive upgrade. 2) ODB and SS are healthy, Engram gets another year under his belt. 3) Barkley is the RB the Giants lacked for half a decade. IMO, he should be utilized like LDT/Faulk. Excellent RB with great hands and route running skills. This is the first time in a long time the Giants have had a dynamic RB. Everyone's main concern is the OL. That's fine. I just don't believe it's that much of a concern most are making it out to be. They will have breakdowns, missed blocks etc just every other OL in the league. The offensive weapons will more than make up for it and this team will put up points.
