Good God, the Dodgers just signed Bauer. They're the far and away favorites to win the world series.

These owners in the NBA and MLB better get their act together or these leagues are going to have 6 teams in them.

Much easier to accomplish in the NBA than MLB. We have seen many "super teams" in MLB fail to win championships. That said, that Dodgers team is a beast. Definitely the favorites. My question is, how the hell are they affording all these massive pay guys? Between Price, Kershaw, Bauer, Jansen, and Betts, 5 players, is like $150m in payroll in 2021. That doesnt even include Bellinger or Pollock.

I disagree. I've come around to not even minding players coming together in pursuit of titles. In the NBA, these players are leaving 8 figures on the table to join other teams when they decline the max from their home teams.

I disagree. I've come around to not even minding players coming together in pursuit of titles. In the NBA, these players are leaving 8 figures on the table to join other teams when they decline the max from their home teams. No one pays money to see "players" They do to see MLB teams play. When players get together they don't have the league's interest in mind. So if the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, Mets and a few other big market teams get all these players, 2/3 of the teams start losing fans and money and it endangers the entire league. This is what will happen in the NBA if they allow the current system to continue.
The NFL has it right. They understand that their league is only as strong as the smallest market team.

MLB just ruined another season...
MLB, MLBPA agree to 2021 protocols, including seven-inning doubleheaders and runner on second in extras
But no universal DH.
Those are probably the 2 dumbest rules they had.

First they get rid of Mookie Betts. Now they're getting rid of Benintendi?

First they get rid of Mookie Betts. Now they're getting rid of Benintendi? They are becoming the Rays. They want that small market feel. Good luck with that in Boston. I guess if they can win though that is pretty much all that matters, but I feel like they are selling Benintendi low. They also are trying to trade others. "Cordero, 26, was limited to 16 games in 2020 because of injuries, hitting .211 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 38 plate appearances after being acquired from the San Diego Padres. He is a career .236 hitter with 12 homers in 95 games, and can play all three outfield positions." "Winckowski, 22, was ranked as the No. 20 prospect in the Mets' system by Baseball America. He was a 15th-round pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2016. He was the Northwest League Pitcher of the Year and a postseason All-Star while with Class A Vancouver in 2018. He reached Advanced A ball in 2019 and has a 3.35 ERA and 1.297 WHIP in the minors." The Mets got the top prospect in this trade.

But the NFL can have 20-25K attend their games? We'll see where the limits are in April when the season begins. Hopefully the vaccination efforts/reduced transmission rates will allow that number to go way up.

The Rockies have agreed to a minor league contract with free-agent first baseman Greg Bird, reports Thomas Harding of MLB.com (via Twitter). He’ll be in Major League camp this spring.
Bird, 28, had a promising rookie debut with the Yankees back in 2015 when he hit .261/.343/.529 with 11 homers in 178 trips to the plate.

Only player who injures himself looking at a batting cage. At least Nick Johnson played 100 games a few times. Greg Bird prays he can play in 50.

Speaking of which, what is Jacoby doing these days besides having money fights with the millions the Yanks gave him to rehabilitate?
