I agree, having Watson would be great but I just think his price would strangle this team for years to come... Any Top qb contract will strangle teams. If you could find plug and play qbs every 4 years it would be optimum. If DJ plays lights out this year and next his contract will be bigger than Deshaun's especially considering Allen will get a contract a year before DJ. Dak is still out there too. maybe the Giants have learned their lesson after feeding Eli millions for sub mediocre play the last few years hoping he would be reborn..

at this point in his pro career Jones is looking like a pretty good college QB who simply can't make the leap up into the pro level, but as I have said Baker Mayfield did it after looking like a flop, so there is hope, isn't there? He's another trailer, but yeah you can build around him and he can be succesful(ish?), at least they know that. With Jones this is still a question. Lets see. If he can take care of the ball and put more in the endzone we may be able to work with him and at least make the playoffs. With Watson you're aiming a lot higher, but you're also admitting errors of the past two years. With a GM trying to save his position this trade will not be sniffed, of that we can be sure

if Gettleman did make the move and paid what Watson is asking and brought him in I think half the fans would want to lynch him and the other half would applaud him...

That was on the Giant's inability to build a team, just like the other 31. If the current GM is unable to build a team, then we should get Watson, make the playoffs a few times and high five a lot about how we're now part of the top 40% of teams without championships instead of the bottom 60% of teams without championships.

I feel like even if he doesn't succeed in this hypothetical deal, most will respect the ambition and willingness to admit past mistakes for the best of the organization. It'd show some self awareness and humbleness that I think he needs. Though, you cant teach an old dog new tricks. But yeah, I get totally your sentiment and it will largely be true to what would happen

I wouldn't count on that, requires too much thinking.

The Rams think they can win now with a smart QB with a good track record. Stafford is that if he can stay healthy. The Lions are going for a big rebuild, and probably hope Goff is not as dumb as he seems. If not, they have a lot of picks to draft or trade for another QB. I think it's a win/win for both, but sooner for the Rams.
