How do you prevent from happening in a big game like this like what happened to KCs o line in the modern cap era Which people seem to be sweeping under the carpet
How do you aquire adequate depth on the O line to overcome losing both starters at OT and have to replace them with a journeyman at the end of his career and a practice squad player Let's not take anything away from the Bucs d line because they have a really good front 7,but let's call it what it was, they could not have had an easier time in a super bowl than last night,
Pre cap old school days teams could hoard O linemen and develop them and you would have starting caliber guys as backups. He'll we benched our starting LT in Super Bowl 25 and it was an upgrade
One could argue many teams back then their backups would be good starters this era
So you now have 31 teams looking at last night who probably are lucky they have even 2 or 3 functional starters on their lines seeing this and are "oh shit" and the 32nd team will worry about this after their parade on Channelside this week.
I mean I guess keep the draft pipeline open but wow... To go into that game with those 2 guys as your starters

I was one of the few that liked the rotation on our line. If that was us at the very least at least let's say Peart was the backup he could have been functional at LT and while screwed at RT we could have attached a TE on that side

while I'm not in favor of an ongoing rotation at offensive line as a general practice, for our team this past season, it seemed to make sense though, given the play of the line, experience of the players, lack of preseason, etc.

Many things have to happen to win a Superbowl....including luck. If you get unlucky with injuries to the wrong people...it's just not your year.

Many things have to happen to win a Superbowl....including luck. If you get unlucky with injuries to the wrong people...it's just not your year. Right. The cap has been around for over 25 years and depth shouldn’t have been discovered last night. Every year a team with Super Bowl aspirations gets derailed by injuries. Everybody gets them. Heck, Philadelphia lost both Brooks and Dillard before the season even started. They never recovered. Dallas lost Dak. Last night, Mahomes scrambled left for at least 3 or 4 first downs with 5 carries. Andy Reid (who likely has a lot on his mind besides football) attempted only 11 runs with his HB all night and threw the ball 49 times. The Chiefs had many penalties in the first half too.

I think fans are way over analyzing the Chiefs offensive line. This is the same defense that sacked Aaron Rodgers 5x the previous game. And their line is arguably the best unit in the league.
Give credit where credit is due. That defense came to play.. Mahomes never had a clean pocket, Hill was blanketed all game long, and Lavonte David did a spectacular job locking up Kelce. Todd Bowles deserves a hell of a lot of credit for his game plan. He pretty much said, you aren’t beating us with Hill or Kelce..
Oh, JPP had a great game. To anyone who forgot. We gave him away for BJ Hill and Kyle Lauletta. Bucs got an elite edge rusher, we got a rotational player in Hill and a quarterback who’s on the practice squad in Cleveland. Yeah, we won in that deal..

Yeah, but Gettleman got a deal he couldn’t refuse. The savings after the avalanche of dead money was allocated towards players who also turned out to be dead money. Later he needed picks for Williams who keeps Hill as a backup. May have been easier to just . . . been down this road so often lol

I was happy they unloaded that contract but Getty has no clue that you have to replace that talent when you trade it a way.. He also did it with OBJ..

Are we talking about his first few years with us? Because he had 16.5 sacks his 2nd season. Or his first few years in Tampa? His first season with them he had 12.5 sacks. I would take that non impactful play every season. And twice on Sundays.

Deplete the cupboard to nothing, and replace it with canned spam. We might not have those high priced items taking up space anymore, but now we’re eating dog food for the next 2 years.

How much would he have moved the needle here had we kept him Who’s to say he would not have given us an extra win or two this year? And that would mean we would be in the playoffs. Great edge rushers are as valuable as quarterbacks and cornerbacks. When you have them, you are given a chance to compete every week. Look at our defense last year. Contain Williams and our pass rush is non existent.

I guess you can say we kinda have a model in place for that.. with peart and lemuiex. Eventually they'll become full fledge starters, but they're not bad in a pinch. Problem is they were more like starters last season. Either way, Luemuiex or Hernadez is not a bad backup piece at G and Peart was serviceable even in his first year at tackle.
As you said, you just have to constantly have to draft lineman.. Regardless, most teams don't even have a good offensive line. It's getting harder and harder to find lineman that can deal with these freaks that are out on defense anymore. I think the bucs d would've given KC issues regardless.

Here's another thing we learned last night.
Everyone tells us that in today's game you must have a mobile quarterback. Well, this image shows the paths of both QB's in last night's Super Bowl. Of course, I fully expect no one needs me to tell them which QB is on the top and which is on the bottom of this image.
Red: complete. White incomplete.

Brady plays behind KCs line last night and he is intensive care right now at Tampa University Hospital contemplating retirement

then you take that depth and you get them playing time in a minor rotation so when their number is called they are ready to go... I was one of the few that liked the rotation on our line. If that was us at the very least at least let's say Peart was the backup he could have been functional at LT and while screwed at RT we could have attached a TE on that side We still would've been screwed considering Evan Engram would be the one blocking.

Yup, the game would've been more competitive, but the result imo would've been the same. That Bucs D played hard yesterday, they were constantly flying towards the ball, absolutely relentless.
