I understand that. Where did you get the impression that I didn't. I make the choice to be optimistic because I have found it more enjoyable than being pessimistic despite the voluminous reasons to be pessimistic. >The Giants have been losing for a really long time. >In that time they have rarely been even competitive >Their high and low round draft picks have mostly not worked out in that time >They often make questionable and perplexing decisions on FA moves, salaries and roster construction >They seem to show a debilitating commitment to loyalty in a highly competitive sport that often requires cold decisions >etc...etc...etc... I could go all day on a rant about all the bad decisions that the Giants have made recently and in the past decade. I'm not blind. I just made the choice a while ago to look at the bright side of these decisions so I can still find some enjoyment in following a team that seems determined to disappoint its fan base in the win column every single year. I have enjoyed the past few years significantly more because of it. I see a lot of fans that are unhappy with the team and it is likely draining much of their enjoyment in following them. I am offering a suggestion to those who are sick of all of the afore mentioned mismanagement that may help them find a bit more enjoyment through it all. Since there is nothing we can do about it but complain and whine. You can take my advice or not, I don't care. I only suggest it because I think you may enjoy it more. During the season, I look for reasons why they may win the upcoming game. It helps me get excited to watch. I won't be too excited if I expect them to lose. Whether I go into the game expecting a win or a loss it has no impact on my disappointment or elation after the game. But it has a big impact on my enjoyment of the Giants in the week leading up to the game. In the off season I look at prospects and FA in how they can help this team if they are added, so regardless of who they draft or sign I can be happy about the signing or trade. Despite all the mounting evidence that there is little rational support of optimism for the team and its decisions. All I am trying to offer to you is an alternative view of these players in the draft beyond doom and gloom. If everyone thought and acted this way, message boards such as these would be boring and lose their appeal. It would seem more like an AA meeting. Interesting that.

Great outlook! I'm with you. Some people are just unhappy in general. It's a NY thing, glad I got out. you moved out to spend 20 hours a day here? Good one! The hypocrisy these days is the common thing.. Just say anything that helps my agenda and making lies up is now normal behavior..

You are aware that making an observation that may not be correct is not a lie. Generally speaking, those who complain a lot are not viewed as being happy. This may surprise you but it is true. There are quite a number of people who seem do nothing but complain about the team. It is not unreasonable to think that they are likely unhappy with the team.

Do you think the Giants have improved over the past few years? They have played more competitively. But until they turn that into more winning I wouldn't consider it improving. While wins and losses are the ultimate measure of team success, I think many people forgot just how low this team was and are viewing it's performance through a lens of unrealistic expectations. We just wrapped up Gettleman's 3rd(?) season at the helm and, to me, there's been a marked improvement in on-field performance. The defense has improved (significantly), the OL has improved and the team has seemed to identify a young, up and coming head coach. Now how much of these improvements are attributed to Gettleman and how many are attributed to Judge? That's impossible to parse and anyone suggesting they can differentiate between them clearly has an agenda. Now, will these incremental improvements translate to W/Ls? We'll see and it needs to happen this season or else DG should get the axe. I've been a pro-Gettleman poster, and I still stand by him, but I can see why some people are unhappy with him. To me, I think he has made rather small mistakes that many GMs make, the difference is the Giants have been pretty bad dating back to the end of the Coughlin era and people are getting antsy. You don't create a perennial winner by having a quick hook with the front office. Just doesn't happen.

Better play is all great, but means little without the wins. DG has failed is such regard so far.

With rebuilds as deep as ours was I found it a bit pre-mature to quantify success by wins. We're at the point now where we need to see record improvement though. Most research shows that tangible, successful change takes 3-5 years to implement. Let's see what we've got now.

It's a relatively young roster, the cap issues don't seem as bad as many teams are having - particularly within our own division. We did have to let a couple decent players go, but did use that savings on a couple who may be key contributers. Gettleman may indeed go, based on a non winning record this upcoming season. But if much of the roster is retained and winning becomes a regularity, I don't view that as failure.

I would hope you are intelligent enough to understand which are the lies and which are fans being wrong.. Maybe not though.. Probably not. I may not even be intelligent enough to understand the limits on one’s ability to telepathically project another’s intent. You mean just like what Jmike has been doing? I mean how can a person possibly be a happy one if they say negative things about a bad situation without reading their minds..

"If" If the team continues to play better every year and yet we still end up with 4-6 wins every year. I will consider that a failure regardless of talent, cap space or improved play. The arrow is pointing up for this team, but they need to turn that into wins.

Has someone actually told you that you should change your feelings? That seems extremely far fetched to me. Why would anyone actually care so much about someone else's opinion of the team that they literally want other posters' feelings to mimic their feelings? That is ludicrous. The results aren't in dispute, they're factual. Fan's feelings about the results are just that: fan's feelings. And when it comes to opinions, everybody is right and everybody is wrong, sometimes. But since they're just opinions, who cares? I haven't seen any state that others need to feel as they do. We see very little of that kind of immaturity here. most posters are more than mature enough to sustain a live and let live approach.

I found myself losing interest in following because of the constant losing and being unhappy with the performance of the team. Found a way to bring back some enjoyment in following. Figured I'd share it with others as an alternative if their frustrations with the team also impacted their enjoyment in following the team. Still can't figure out what I did so horribly wrong in doing so....c'est la vie.
