Looking at the LBer roster we seem to have a lot with a chance to make the team. I figure they keep at least 8 and no more than 10. Who do you think makes it and who doesn't?
35-Brunson 41-Garrett 46-Anderson 47-Brown 48-Crowder 49-Coughlin 51-Ojulari 52-Downs 53-Ximenes 54-Martinez 55-Ragland 58-Smith 57-Lalos 59-Carter 93-Harris 44-Odenigbo (I'm not sure if the Giants are looking at him as part of the DL rotation or OLB rotation, so I included him here too. Giants roster page says DE, but he's wearing 44..sooo...IDK).

It's an interesting group, especially on the edge.
For ILB, I think they'll have Martinez, Ragland, Crowder and Harris.
For Edge? Not sure at al outside of Ojulari and maybe Smith, since they are rookies. Outside of that, every one of the other guys I wouldn't be surprised if they make the team, or are cut.
If I had to bet, I'd go with Carter, Anderson, Ojulari, Smith, Coughlin.
Odenigbo I think they use on the DL.

I don't understand taking Smith as a 4th rounder, and don't expect to see him on the field anytime soon. Odenigbo can probably be considered part of the DL rotation, since they will show a 4-3 at times.

And Cam Brown makes it as he is a special teams ace and showed he can play if needed (remids me a bit of Jaquan Williams)

Tough to choose. But, at least they know they need LBers. That’s better than the last 10 years.

Before the draft, our edge rushers were Carter, Brown, Ximines and Coughlin. Not exactly the who’s who of linebackers. I think Smith is going to be better than people think. He’s raw no doubt, but he has the measures to compete in this league. And he learned under former great Bryce Paup at Northern Iowa. We finally have some players to push the stiffs we have at linebacker.

I read that he has a good first step, but doesn't play the run well, nor did he matchup well strength-wise against opposing linemen. I don't see how a player at this position can put on over 60 lbs in a few years, and have that be proportionate to useful power.

I like the guy Raymond Johnson they just signed. They list him as DE, but I'd like to see him at OLB. He's a pretty solid player.

Id say our starters would be
Olujari Martinez Ragland Carter
Ximines, Crowder, Downs, Couglin, Carter, and Anderson are back ups
I see Elerson Smith and Ifeadi Odenigbo as DL depth players

Signed to PS on 10/14, Active roster 10/27, waived 12/8, PS 12/9, signed for 2021 1/4.

If Cam Browm hit the weight room properly I see him in the line up also. None of the other linebackers have his length or mobility. He reminds of Jamin Davis The Redskins first round pick. He just needs to add weight and strength.

Ric Serritella called him the Giants best pick of the draft. Paup gave an interview and it sounded like he felt Smith was the type that took a while to take the game seriously. Also seemed clear that he felt Smith should have played one more season. Which may have made him eligible for the supp draft. The cancellation of the season really hurt him as this was expected to be the season he put it together

I like our group in general, and won't be hurt to to be wrong. Maybe the future will do that.

Bryce Paup raves about him, I haven't heard a bad thing about him.

Its a decent group of players with a handful that could be really good if they develop. Whom ever makes it will certainly provide quality depth and will be used often

Yeah...he played DE in college. But, he's 6'3" 270. Kind of a tweener, we'll see what happens. Nice player as a free agent though.

When he arrived at Northern Iowa he was 190lbs soaking wet. With a steady diet and a whole bunch of sustanon, I mean protein he put the weight on. He was as green as can be, Bryce Paup alluded too that a simple stunt was difficult for him to adjust. With hard work and a good support system. He is now a NY Giant. I think the kid can be good.

Oh I thought he was saying he will put on 60 more in the NFL. I was thinking he was crazy, turns out I just can't read lol.
Bart Scott calls it "peanut butter" and Herm Edwards just says "our diet". Herm said he laughs when a big high school TE thinks he is going to stay at TE and Herm wants him to play LT "wait until you get on our diet, you'll be a LT in no time". Amazing what proper nutrition and exercise can do, why doesn't the military adopt that shit?

Sorry Mike, I wasn't clear on when he put the weight on. 60 lbs sounds like an awful lot to add, and the report says he still needs to make that apply to strength. A TE gaining that much to become a more stationary blocker at Tackle seems quite a bit different than a TE gaining that much and expecting to become a pass rusher - at least to me. I don't usually jump to make assumptions on newly acquired players, nor dump on a draft decision. I think this discussion brought up some different aspects of what can be evaluated in a developing player.

Giants roster page says DE, but he's wearing 44..sooo...IDK). Those are my 10 maybe 11. My starters going into camp would be from left to right Carter, Martinez, Odenigbo, Ojulari. What do I know. I also remember Downs making some strong plays for us last year. That would be 11 LBers. I never remember carrying that many. OLB - Anderson, Coughlin, Ojulari, Xman, Carter, Smith (just cause he was drafted by this coaching staff). ILB - Crowder, Brown, Downs, (I'm counting him) Martinez, Odenigbo ( These 2 would be awesome vs the run ). It's why we signed Obenigbo.
