Looking at the LBer roster we seem to have a lot with a chance to make the team. I figure they keep at least 8 and no more than 10. Who do you think makes it and who doesn't? 35-Brunson 41-Garrett 46-Anderson / 47-Brown / 48-Crowder / 49-Coughlin / 51-Ojulari / 52-Downs ? 53-Ximenes / 54-Martinez / 55-Ragland 58-Smith / 57-Lalos 59-Carter / 93-Harris 44-Odenigbo / (I'm not sure if the Giants are looking at him as part of the DL rotation or OLB rotation, so I included him here too. Giants roster page says DE, but he's wearing 44..sooo...IDK). Those are my 10 maybe 11. My starters going into camp would be from left to right Carter, Martinez, Odenigbo, Ojulari. What do I know. I also remember Downs making some strong plays for us last year. That would be 11 LBers. I never remember carrying that many. OLB - Anderson, Coughlin, Ojulari, Xman, Carter, Smith (just cause he was drafted by this coaching staff). ILB - Crowder, Brown, Downs, (I'm counting him) Martinez, Odenigbo ( These 2 would be awesome vs the run ). It's why we signed Obenigbo. A 3-4 base defense usually carries 8 LBers. I believe the new league guidelines will allow 2 extra players (now 55 total) to be on game day rosters, which can be taken from the practice squad (now 14 players). So 10 LBers is possible, but they probably won't all be on the regular roster it would seem.

Oh I thought he was saying he will put on 60 more in the NFL. I was thinking he was crazy, turns out I just can't read lol.
Bart Scott calls it "peanut butter" and Herm Edwards just says "our diet". Herm said he laughs when a big high school TE thinks he is going to stay at TE and Herm wants him to play LT "wait until you get on our diet, you'll be a LT in no time". Amazing what proper nutrition and exercise can do, why doesn't the military adopt that shit?
Sorry Mike, I wasn't clear on when he put the weight on. 60 lbs sounds like an awful lot to add, and the report says he still needs to make that apply to strength. A TE gaining that much to become a more stationary blocker at Tackle seems quite a bit different than a TE gaining that much and expecting to become a pass rusher - at least to me. I don't usually jump to make assumptions on newly acquired players, nor dump on a draft decision. I think this discussion brought up some different aspects of what can be evaluated in a developing player. Not your fault. I agree it certainly makes the decision/evaluation process seem interesting. Oddly enough the TE from Notre Dame I liked this year, Tommy Tremble, was a DE in highschool turned TE in college. I do think the Elerson pick is more about potential than anything else at this point. Over the next year or two we will likely be shedding some of the "potential" picks from the past so having him here for 4 years is nice. Lets see what this staff can do.

Did we forget about our offseason acquisition Reggie Ragland, ILB from Detroit? I think he along with Martinez will solidify the ILB corps, in my humble opinion....

Makes sense jimmie, Thanks for the info didn't know they raised the squad to 55 players. 14 on practice - Holy Cow. Teams should be overloaded at every position. Are you saying they can dress 55 on game day ? That's like a 10 player increase, isn't it ?

Generally speaking rosters will all consist of at least 24 offensive players and 24 defensive players. 3 more spots are used on kicker, punter and long snapper. That is 51 of 53. That leaves 2 spots open for any position offense or defense.

I read somewhere, that teams can take 2 practice squad members and put them on the game day roster if needed. I don't have a link for that, it may have been something in the CBA agreement.
