You obviously have more control than me. If this wasn’t DG’s 4th year trying to fix his number one priority, if this wasn’t such a big year for our QB, if this wasn’t the entire line and were just one or two players, if they weren’t ranked last or near it in the entire league last year, if we didn’t just invest heavily in WR’s, if we picked up better FA’s and drafted an O lineman…than I wouldn’t be near as emotional. Everything you mentioned is/was true. New life and new year vinnie!! Its going to work out!! Been there done that with the angry Giants fan and being emotional. A few holes in the walls to show for it. Now I try not to get so bent so often. Hahahaha…I like to think I’m more controlled than I used to be, which I am, but I also think a large part of that has to do with being numb to losing so much over the past ten years. Plus, being the pessimist but perfectionist I am, if I don’t get my hopes up than I won’t be nearly as disappointed if they fail and if they win then I’ll be pleasantly surprised. When I really get excited and become more emotional is when I know we have a good team but are losing games. For the past several years I haven’t been that excited about most of the teams save a year or two. Also, any game against the Cowboys still has the potential to result with a remote through the screen, holes in the drywall, random broken household items, etc. I honestly try to keep my emotions in check but when I read some of the things other people say or some of the moves this FO makes or doesn’t make, especially with the O line (which our entire offense depends on), then sometimes I can’t help myself. Even if we were mediocre I wouldn’t be so animated about it but we are, and have been, the worst offense in the league with one of the worst O lines in the league which go hand in hand. I try Game, I really do. Hopefully the season gets here ASAP and my concerns are put to rest. I would love nothing more than to see this O line somewhere between 10-15th best in the league (very optimistic I know) and tell everyone how wrong I was along with a public apology to DG as I’m vomiting.

I am counting on top 15 for the OL. Lots of skepticism of course. Passion for this team, or any team for that matter, creates emotional peaks and valleys. Thats why winning feels so great because loosing sucks so bad.

I did admit Judge thinks more of these O linemen then I do, that’s obvious or they wouldn’t be on the team. What I said is that I don’t have faith in the O line just because Judge and the FO do. I’m quite sure every O line we’ve had over the past 10 years, and more specifically the past 4 years under DG, had the coaches support but now I’m supposed to think “well Joe Judge likes them so they must be good enough”? Fool me once, fool me twice….as I said, until I see positive results on the field (which I hope will happen) I’m not going to trust the worst line in the league last year will improve as much as some of you do and I think it’s foolish to not have better competition in camp. If we’re not keeping players because we’re scared to admit we made a mistake then why did we keep Flowers? Why is Solder still on the team? I don’t care if they were under contract or not, aren’t we supposed to be putting the best players on the field regardless of pay or age or who drafted them or where they were drafted? As I said, even if you’re right (which I honestly think there’s a little bit of truth to what both of us think) then Dave Gettleman going through as many O linemen as he has and having one of the worst O lines in the league every year since he’s been here shows how bad he actually is at evaluating O line talent. There’s zero excuse for having a line this bad this far into his career as GM, especially when he publicly announced it was his first priority. Please don't mistake what I'm saying Vinnie. I'm not trying to say because they like them you should feel 100% confident in them. What I'm saying is that you shouldn't think they are the worst players ever because the media ranked them that way. I trust the coaches and GM infinately more than the media. If we did what the media wanted we would have drafted Josh Rosen, then had to replace him with Dwayne Haskins then had to replace him with who ever the new "best prospect ever" was this year.
The last 10 years doesn't matter. The last 4 under DG doesn't matter. This is a new year. The biggest difference is that this coach in particular puts an emphasis on teaching, something our other coaches didn't do. We could not develop ANY OL in the last 10 years. Meanwhile last year from the start of the year to the end we were able to see an actual improvement in our OL. That is why I feel good about this team. You don't have to and that is fine. Don't base it on 10 years though, judge these coaches and these players on their own.

I gotchya Mike, you bring up some good points but even if I forget about the last ten years, it’s impossible not to think of the last 3/4 under DG when he stated fixing the O line was his first priority and it’s been nothing but a mess since he’s been here. It’s hard for me to believe he finally got it right when, as of now, we still have some of the worst players in the league starting on this O line. Sure, some of may improve some but they better improve A LOT considering how bad they were. Even if I don’t believe the media, the stats support that we are at least in the bottom 4-5 O lines in the league. If I judge the players on their own. Lemieux sucks at pass blocking, Gates was ok for a guy never playing the position, Hernandez regressed since his rookie year and has been below average, we don’t know what we have with Peart, Solder was the worst for his position last time he played and Thomas showed improvement but has a long ways to go considering he was the 4th overall pick. I don’t mind other optimism and it gives me a little hope but I can’t get behind this O line until I see results on the field. Heres to hoping I’m wrong!

I just don't like how the media makes it seem like these guys are the worst players ever. They were so new it's just not right. I will say bashing them on their pass blocking is fair but they were damn good run blockers. Even Peart. People like to use PFF to say how bad our OL was well they rated his run blocking very high. We need to see improvement for sure with this OL, especially in pass blocking.
DG hasn't fixed the but with the way college is played vs the NFL I truly don't think you can fix the OL without the right coaches in place. Our previous coaching staffs simply did not develop players at all. I think we have seen in their short time here this staff does develop players and does maximize their skills. I expect more of that this season.
