He had no intention of returning to football. The Giants came to him, nobody forced them to give a contract to a player who they felt was badly out of shape. He took their money with barely breaking a sweat. Smart move by him, the Giants not so much. I’d really like to know what the cap hit and guaranteed pay was. When you say “Giants” you mean Gettleman. He drafted Benjamin, and most likely vouched for him. The cap hit is probably $20 dollars. I think you're right, and I think there was a disconnect between him and Judge on this. His contract was worth $990,000, I'm just curious how much money they wasted on this dumb move.

And, he only counts for $850,000 against the Giants 2021 salary cap. It’s called a veteran salary benefit deal.

Though that's what he deserves.

Judge must have really been disappointed to get rid of him so quickly and eat that cash. Wonder if his weight and not making that target effected his pay?

This was an experiment, nothing more. A player who has been out of the league since ‘18 is a long shot of making an NFL roster. I’m sure Judge is pissed that they wasted their time with him. The money is nothing, that’s the equivalent of you and I finding change in the street. Kelvin Benjamin got a lottery ticket with this opportunity, and decided to put it on his BLT and eat it.
