While Oshane quietly joined his teammates today on the field; he's a player who needs to step up and show everyone why he deserves to be wearing Harry's jersey.
Speaking of Harry's jersey; there's no good reason to retire Strahan's and not Harry's. Bad move by John Mara.

Whoa, I didn't realize that... you are very correct. Actually, it pisses me off. Harry was a great Giant, on and off the field. 13 yrs..... 9 of them Pro Bowl. Most telling was the fact that Harry's title.... to both team mates and others, was simply known as, "The Captain."
We need a TGB Petition to Mr. Mara. I have no problem with Stray's number being retired, but Harry has got to get his number retired.

So far, he’s not even honoring Greg Jones. Hell, he still has a ways to go to be on Brandon Shorts level. Speaking of Harry, the Giants have been dropping the ball with things like this for sometime. The great Leonard Marshall has to buy a ticket to come to the stadium, his name after all those great years is still not up in the rafters.

Exactly Zim.
While Mike Ditka often went out of his way to lend a voice for older players in need of care, Harry was the person I believe truly set the wheels in motion with the league and the NFLPA. And he did so without the need to disrespect others which has become so prevalent in our society.
After years of waiting on the HOF, Harry chose his moment to awaken us all to the neglect of these former players. I remember listening to his speech, feeling disappointed and maybe even a bit confused that he chose to focus on that to such an extent and at the expense of his journey with the Giants. But in the end that only spoke to the immense character of the man.

That's crazy that #70 is not up there.

The Giants have had a lot of great players we might not have numbers left to fill out the roster if we retire them all. Also I thought the ring of honor was supposed to stop teams from retiring numbers.
Oh Xman. Kid has looked like he has potential, should be a good camp battle with all these edge players.

Not a fan, he seems to disappear, come up small in big moments or not finish a season due to injury.
As with the rest of the "wishful thinking" guys on our roster, I am hoping they do something they've never done before.......this year.
I am just not counting on it.

3rd round pick from Old Dominion. Kind if an odd draft pick in the 3rd round but whatever.
Lets go Xman.....get your shit together and kick some ass.

That 4.5 sacks his rookie year had me hoping he would develop. Last year torpedoed that. I just want to see if he can win the starting gig or not. If he doesn't his time here is very short.

I'm rooting for the kid.
He was a pass rushing specialist coming out of school and he actually had a decent rookie season. Unfortunately he was a wash last season having only played in 4 games. Like Carter, Engram, and DJ, this is a HUGE make or break year for these players.
Sadly he has been recovering from a bad injury and most likely hasn't been able to fix his glaring deficiency against the run. Let's hope he was a film room junkie while rehabbing

I try to always look at the potential of a player but in the end I'm with you in protecting myself from the let down.

Realistically he may see 75% snaps . At that rate that is an 8 sack season. I will take the from him. IMO. HIS biggest problem is is lack of tackling skills. 41 to 46 percent of the defensive snaps are going to be running plays. He needs to be able to maintain his outside containment . He needs to prove if if the OC decides to run at him . It will be a problem for the offense.

He might not make the roster.. This team better not have players who are bad at tackling on defense with all these teaching coaches working with them..

What are you adding to your coffee this morning? lol You're not giving Osi enough credit if you believe he was in on the presumed passing downs. I agree he did get exposed on some running plays each game but he did have enough plays stuffing the run to make him a valuable player on most downs.. I don't see them keeping any players who are only good at one thing unless they are a specialist of the special teams.. He could be put on this new expanded PS so that could keep him in blue for the year..

bottom line the kid was a big gamble gettng drafted at 3 from Old Dominion. Would be a surprise if he has a good career in the NFL.
Being a 3rd rounder they may give him some leeway

We have to give him a chance to that playing experience process. He is at 613. I think he need to be give the opportunity to get playing experience under his belt. :

You don't have to agree but that is the way I see it Your 1st three sentences are never needed to be stated to me at least and if some fan needs to hear that then I feel bad for them.. lol It would be wonderful if all drafted players got more than a half of season of snaps to prove their worth.. This doesn't seem to be the reality of how it works in the NFL and once a team starts drafting players higher at those same positions it's usually game over.. If Xman is playing more than Ojulari does then it will be fun calling out Getty for another bad draft pick.. LOL

He will have to out play Carter, Ojulari and Odenigbo in order to get those snaps. He will earn snaps in pass rush situations but probably won't play much of the early downs...unless he wins the camp competition of course. Like you said give me that 4.5 sacks in 45% of the snaps, I'll take it.

I'm never going to be like that at the professional level of sports.. why not? Pros need to be brought along as well. You see it all the time not much separates the greats from just the good players. So I get the process. I see no reason to shit on Xman at this point. He didnt tear his rotator on purpose. Like all the younger players who are developing I see no need to rule them out and not think they are putting in 100% effort to make in in the NFL. There will be plenty of time to say..."yeah he stunk and couldnt get it done"
