On the OL "Can we please get in pads and play a game? Can we try that on for size?”
And attack DG in 3...2...1...

To be fair, right now they have no depth. DG has to bring in at least two guys that can actually play and don't mind running sprints every once in a while.

He deserves every bit of criticism for this mess of an O line. Maybe I should start posting articles discussing how bad the O line was last year as a reminder as to why DG gets criticized as often as he does.

We should wait for some live bullets to fly, I agree with him on that....as respects the starters. However, the frightening non existence of capable depth on the OL belongs to him as does the assessment in the off-season/draft that our OL was in good enough shape. He owns it lock stock and barrel just as JR owned it when he proclaimed that "the talent is there on the OL, it's up to the coaches to bring it out." Most of us can smell BS at 110 yards. I admit to now having a knot in my stomach regarding the OL. I have moved from mild concern to flat out worry.

To me DG just said what we all know. Were all waiting to see what we look like. We need to judge the OL in games. Were going to have to wait for Barkley to see how he is.
To me DG gives a pretty honest interview.

I think the lack of a good OL coach has been our issue more than anything else. We should have hit on 1 good olineman by this point between Reese and Getty. Also some of the guys we let go have actually started for other teams.

On the OL "Can we please get in pads and play a game? Can we try that on for size?” He's absolutely right. And without trying to be redundant.... Can we play one game, or even an exhibition, before we declare the OL a failure?

LOL perfect he tells the truth, they want to know what they have thats not changing, this is it no one is coming to the rescue them could be his job but he knows you can't just quit on a young OL, these guys are growing together maybe Hernandez gets replaced next year who knows.

To me DG gives a pretty honest interview. The other part is this where they screwed it up the most OLs depend on stability coaching and in personnel and scheme. this has been nothing close to stable especially from the coaching and scheme angles Thomas Lemieux Gates and Peart are going to have every opportunity to succeed.

Never stop trying to add more/better pieces. They will add more I'm sure of it. Also we have to see what our undrafted guys can do.

I try to post articles as they pop up and ones that aren't already posted. My comment was not about DG getting criticized for his failure to produce a good OL, it was about how every time he opens his mouth people are like "this dude sounds stupid with his accent, why did he say that, he's a liar, back to using cliches". You can criticize, I can counter (or attempt to) you critique, and we can talk football. If the comment (just in general not you) is "what a dumb accent" I can't really discuss that in a football sense.

I thought the standard turn around time for the rebuilding of the OL for the Giants was 8 years?

The Raiders had 3 retirements their first week of camp, the Titans have had 2 free agents retire. Patrick Robinson just announced his retirement. As Dave said, Covid is still a prominent risk through the league, veteran players who have made a lot of money in their careers are weighing the risks and deciding it’s not worth it.

I couldn't care less about DGs excuses. lol, I am more or less a fan of his.
However, the OL has been a disaster since Seubert, Snee, O'hara etal.
They have been a disaster through 2 GMs.
DG promised to fix that once and for all 3 years ago, not six months ago.
All we have to show for it is one promising LT but nothing certain.
Interesting LG, C nothing certain with either of them.
RG who has not fulfilled his promise as pro big question mark.
RT who is a project from a small (football) school that turned out the likes of Beatty backed up by a mediocre veteran who has performed poorly since arriving.
That is a pretty shitty body of work for a guy who said it was the first order of business 3 years ago.
So hearing about how "guys are retiring everywhere in the aftermath of COVID" bounces off me.
Where was he before COVID and what is his response now. That is all I care about.

LOL I could care less about his accent or what he says to fans, I did appreciate in one of his pre draft pressers he said we are not always right. They are not pulling the plug on this youth movement, as I said the problem seems to be more in the stability in the coaching ranks including changing system to changing OL coaches that is not conducive to OL play period, this includes both staffs Hal Hunter please man can't get a job next we had the merry go round of coaches, these kid deserve and are gonna get a chance to be the line of the future, and the Giants are gonna give this OL coaching crew from Flats to Sale a chance to stabilize what has been a mess since they fired Flats to quell Ereck Flowers concerns.

Interesting that our young Oline improved as the year progressed last year and you see it as mess without them even taking a snap. Losing Looney and Fulton is on Dave for sure but let’s see who he picks up before we write the book on this season.

I thought the standard turn around time for the rebuilding of the OL for the Giants was 8 years? Seems we win a SB when ever we have a good OL and we win a SB once per decade so I'd say the standard is 10 years +/- 2 years. So we are in the sweet spot.

It does not matter that they played obviously better the second half of the year. Also not mattering are 3 rookies, first time C, new HC, new OC, new system, no offseason, no preseason. Those are just excuses, PFF has us as the worst.

All of this is spot on. The youth on the OL comes with considerable risk. Not a single person in that starting 5 can be considered a slam dunk top NFL OL. To think that 5 out of 5 will emerge as real pros seems unrealistic but he owns them all and should know how likely that is. The depth is at a stage where we can't even have an opinion because it doesn't exist. That is a very thin line to walk down but at least we know at this stage of DGs return. He owns it. All accolades to him if this turns out great (which I away hope for) and his dismissal after the season if it implodes which is not out of the realm of possibility. Let's hope for the best.

Improvement is the only thing I'm looking for. Not an overall grade skewed by the first part of the season.

My Hope is for 3 to be pretty good players hopefully the 2 tackles and Gates, hoping for Lemieux to be serviceable at worst same with Hernandez they can bring in comp for Lemieux next year and replace Hernandez if necessary or keep him as depth at the right price. 3 solid guys will get you where you need to go for now very few OLs are solid across the board.
