Its time to recognize that this 26 year old is living up to the impossible hype of being the next Babe Ruth. Its a shame he plays for the Angels as his talents are being wasted like the other GOAT of this generation called Mike Trout AKA reincarnation of Mickey Mantle, but holy crap he is fantastic and a must see for any baseball fan. Last night he went 8 innings giving up 1 run with 8 Ks, lowering his ERA to 2.79 on the season with an 8-1 record, all while hitting his league leading 40th HR. I thought it was all hype after the past couple of years, but wow. Lets see if he can continue it, but this is the closest to Babe as we have seen. 2021: Hitting- .269, 40HRs, 87RBIs, 165 OPS+ Pitching- 8-1, 2.79 ERA, 120Ks, 30BBs, 1.06 WHIP MVP

A few years ago 60 Minutes did a profile on him in Japan and I couldn’t believe the hype but it’s all true. Amazing!

He's having a season for the ages, and doing it in this era makes it all the more amazing.

Ya know the Angels really have 2 players that are generational and don't get anywhere the credit that they deserve.
Mike Trout when people say he is the reincarnation of Mickey Mantle is just not gossip and fodder for a broadcast. Before "The Mick" hurt his knees he was considered the fastest man in baseball in the 50's. Watching Trout play for a week you really get to see the talent of this man. Personally watching Mick as a kid I lean toward him. The Mick was really great and I was a Dodger fan. Got to see Mick play everyday as well as "The Duke" and "Willie".
And now your telling me they have another reincarnation in Ohtani of Babe Ruth ? If they have anymore players that look like Lou Gherig or Joe DiMaggio it's some mad scientist at work here. But son of a gun I don't know if even the Babe hit all those HR's while he was pitching ?

This is legendary. As of 9/5/21 with around 25 games left Ohtani is 10-1 with an era between 2.15 - 2.20. And as a DH yesterday he hit his 43rd HR.
Are You kidding me ? This is a one man gang. If your a baseball fan please watch this guy don't miss it. It could never happen again.
As I watch this in awe I just can't believe it.

At it again.
I have such a hard time figuring out if I should put him in my lineup or rotation in fantasy.
Final line: 6 IP 1 hit, 1 walk, 12 Ks, 0 ERs, W 2-4, 2B, 2 RBIs, 1 BB.

Like the NFL, you need more than one or 2 great players. Every great QB also needs a decent defense. The funny thing is, Ohtani is the great QB and great pass rusher all in one.

Today vs Boston
7 IP 6 Hits 0 Runs 11 Ks Win 2-4 with an RBI
Seeing how it was today, I guess the P does have to be the DH which is lame. So basically the Angels play without a DH when Ohtani pitches.

I was thinking teams should be able to use the DH for a position player though. Like, if the SS is a defensive only SS, you could use a DH to hit for him...

We saw it when mini garbage can won it in 2017.

Shohei Ohtani is Babe Ruth
Last night: 6.1IP, 1 ER, 10Ks, W 3-4, 2 HRs, 2 RBIs at the plate
.304 BA, 28 HRs, 64 RBIs, 11 SBs 1.039 OPS 7-3, 3.02 ERA, 95.1 IP with 127 Ks. 1.039 WHIP
and its June 28th
Pretty ridiculous a 1.039 OPS hitting and WHIP pitching
Lock for the MVP with Judge out

Barring injury, he is a lead pipe lock for the MVP award. He's about to get $500 million in the offseason.
