Pugh was garbage for multiple years, Richburg too. It was 100% the correct decision to let both of them walk at those price tags. The shambles that is the O-line now has nothing to do with Justin Pugh nor Richburg being colossal Jerry Reese busts. Lol, the guy was rated as the 8th best guard in the league his sophomore season and consistently graded out higher than any guard we’ve had since and it was the right move letting him go. He was horrible the 3 years after year 2 with the Giants, could not stay healthy consistently either. He was not the answer regardless of what the nonsensical PFF grades say, eye test told a different story. Not getting an upgrade at Guard after that speaks more to the incompetence of the folks who tried to pick his replacement. Nobody in this organization could find an upgrade after 3 years of an underperforming and often injured Justin Pugh? That's pathetic!

I haven't heard his name mentioned anywhere but here since he left. Pugh was not a good LT, RT or Guard. He and Richburg spent their Giants days either missing games or being tossed around the backfield like rag dolls... That's great Pugh finally got it together after 10 years in the league, but nobody missed him when he wasn't resigned, and I don't miss him now. We should’ve kept Ed McCaffery too... Let's move on. i disagree, pugh and richberg were good players and we needed a good RT. I think some pretend they were bad, or Elis heavy footed and decline made them look bad.

Pugh played well for the Giants when he was healthy (outside of that one disaster game against the eagles I remember), so it's not like this is shocking. He was not tossed around like a ragdoll here. I would have kept him, always liked him. DG felt differently, DG wasn't right. But yeah, as much as I lament it, it's not uncommon in the NFL, guys leave, go elsewhere, play well. It's not unique to DG, DG just happens to be one of the worst at his job in the NFL so stuff like this gets magnified. I just don't agree, he was demoted from LT, to RT, to G. He was average on his best days. He had no push and seemed to lack strength. He wasn't Flowers, but as a first round pick, Pugh was pretty much a bust for us. I'm not defending the Omemah signing, but lamenting Pugh is the ultimate hindsight call by this tweet. He was never drafted to be the LT though. Most had him converting to guard...which when he Syed there, he was good. He also was very solid at RT and could spot start at LT. As a pass blocker he was buttery smooth technique wise...I'm not going to pretend he was a dominant run blocker, he wasn't. Injuries are the only thing I could knock Pugh for. Thought when he played he was solid to good pretty much all the time. He sometimes didn't have the horses around him as well. I lament Pugh personally, because I wanted to keep him, but knew DG and his hog Molly speech meant big changes were coming.

Past is not helping the future unless they learn from their mistakes Pugh got it, Flowers did not both are gone.
Lesson get somebody within the organization than knows what they are doing.

I’m only a PM away.
