Is there anyone here that thinks this move will have any profound effect on our offense? If so, I want to hear it.
Yes I know the Browns went 5-3 with Freddie as OC a few years back. But I also know what the Browns looked like with him as HC. Was he the OC as well during that time?
I just rewatched last year's Browns/Giants game highlights to refresh my memory of the difference between Kitchens and Garrett calling plays. Stats below confirmed the eye test as far more downfield attempts, which is a strength of DJ. Furthermore, when he was with the Browns, they were top 10 in explosive plays..

I don't care who the OC is, Jones is what he is, another dime a dozen QB with an arm with no QB instincts! Guy looks like a deer in the headlights. We will see a up and coming QB next week.

I think it’s likely to have the profound 1 game effect. Since we play the Eagles that’s not a bad thing. Overall you can take a pile of shit and mold it into the statue of David, but at the end of the day it’s still a pile of shit. And it is our pile of shit.

Well.....he seems like he would try to open up the downfield game more. Whether we have the skills to pull it off is another question. Does he get to decide who's playing on the line? Based on past history or based on trying to wake this offense up?

I'm dreading the ass-whipping that our sorry-ass team is going to get from the rebuilding Eagles. I cannot believe that Coach Rock Paper Scissors is having more success than Judge.

He called plays at head coach and there was a well documented disconnect between him and Todd Monken his OC. So doesn't absolve him of blame. One thing I know for certain, he will be more aggressive than Garrett. I'd give anything to not watch Daniel Jones play robotic football where it looks like he's a head case every play because he sucks right now. I want aggressive, TD making DJ from 2019. Shrink the field if they need to, even more RPO, more option routes, and for the love of God can Kenny Golladay be utilized on go routes, back shoulder routes, and some damn skinny posts so he can make the catches he does in his sleep? 2 targets agains the bucks and they were both short field slants. Genuinely don't care if DJ starts fumbling again. Guy has been completely neutered by this offense for 1.5 years and at this point his fumbles have just been replaced by interceptions that boneheaded decisions that at least are a partial result of this robotic unimaginative crap the Giants have been putting on the field. Yeah the offensive line is attrocious, but maye Freddie and co. can scheme around that better as well. exactly I'd rather them screw up trying to be agressive rather than passive and ****ing up not trying so yeah what else do they have to lose, go for the juggler from here on out!!

I'm hoping the positive difference stems from: He knows our offense is one of the worst in the league. Due to playcalling and just having shit talent. So why not go for broke? Open it up. He's trying to prove his worth as an OC and auditioning for other team's openings next year. afreakinmen that's all i'm sayin..................

Clearly, Garrett wasn’t clear with hitting the open receiver. Instead, Jones is airmailing it to the water boy.. Picks where he's going to go with the ball pre-snap. Stares down the receiver post-snap. He really is a special QB. A MOTHER-FREAKIN BUM IS WHAT HE IS OMYGOODNESS STILL STARING DOWN AT A GLARING RATE; CAN HIS AZZ LISTEN TO WHAT THE COACHES IS TRYING TO BEAT IN HIS DUMBAZZ HEAD??

I'm interested to see if he adds some simple twists to route combinations like adding more drag routes clearing out space in the middle of the field and such.

Seems many have forgotten the injuries the Offensive line has taken this season .Season ending injuries. No one has forgotten. The Bucs were playing two lineman yesterday that were from division II, and division III schools. And they still mopped the floor with us. Excuses are met on deaf ears now, time to play with what you have. If not, UPS is always hiring.

Yes. Someone in the building just got fired for doing the exact same thing every single day. I expect kitchens to try something different. This is outstanding news! What we were doing was insane and just over and over again.

I think, looking back this did happen and Eli's physical skills were also on the downswing. Terrible combo.

Can't be any worse I guess That’s my thinking. I’m not implying there aren’t other issues to overcome. But there is way too much talent on that offense for these results. Ditto on this. Not sure why posters are talking up potential records down the stretch…..I know this is a Kitchens/offensive thread but the Giants ain’t beating anyone if their defensive philosophy of bend, bend, bend over doesn’t change. The offense may improve vastly but that won’t equate to more wins until the DC starts using his personnel better as well.

Last year when he called the plays for the Browns game they didn't score much, That said he schemed open that sorry group of WRs like other teams do getting more then a few yards of separation, problem was McCoy in that game was way off missing couple wide open TDs and several chain movers. he's gonna be more multiple more modern in his approach will tweak the routes to help clear space out for guys to work.

Yea when TC walked out he door max protect and extra TEs and chips went with him, Mac stated he wanted Eli to move his feet make his own space, Mac wanted 3 or more in the pattern, the OL was not good enough to handle it with 5 or 6 at most blockers, square peg round hole syndrome Eli was a pure pocket passer not Arron Rodgers.

For sure. I think more concerning than Mac's over reliance on 11 personnel was how all power running concepts left, and the route options that were TC/Gilbride staples essentially disappeared. It was the most boring west coast passing attack I've ever seen and had removed all it's hyrbrid personality by getting rid of the TC things.

Slant city lol how did we get 2 of the most boring play callers that are from 2 different systems. He and Garret are very similar in that respect boring and predictable, Shurmur has been the best play caller and QB guy since TC left.
