Daboll and Schoen said they would retain him. They never said what Graham actually wanted. When Graham was interviewing for the Steelers job he said he would be interested in staying on as DC. Interested.....unless something better comes up.... I couldn't blame him for wanting to get to a team that much further along than thr NYGs. Even Pittsburgh with Ben retiring isnt as much if a shit show as the NYgs have been,

It is clear Graham is leaving, if he gets an offer. First, he didn’t come in with Dabol and was from the failed regime…one wonders if he would ever be a guy Dabol wants for the long haul. Second, he knows that many of his best defensive players will be gone either through free agency or as salary cap cuts….the Giant defense will be very young and very green next year. There is a third reason…..Vegas is a lot cheaper, taxes are lower and weather better than New Jersey.

Weird. Daboll basically announced that he was staying unless he got a HC job Daboll and Schoen said they would retain him. They never said what Graham actually wanted. Seems like they should have checked with him before they announced that.

That’s a weak argument. Let’s keep him, because James Bettcher was awful. Grahams defenses have been smoke and mirrors. We played weak quarterbacks in the ‘20 season, and last year we started the year off giving up 29 points a game. He’s not Rod Rust bad, but enough of this settling nonsense. The Giants defenses were shit long before Bettcher. I think they have been shit even longer than the offense has been shit. This wasn't a one coach situation.... Our 2016 defense was far from being shit. 2nd in points allowed, and tied for 3rd in rushing yards against. It’s why we went all in on bringing back JPP and Hankins the following season. Unfortunately, our whole team had a midlife crisis with our toupee of a head coach. If Graham wants to explore a better opportunity, let him.

Yeah this is surprising, I would HOPE they've been in contact with Graham or was they just assuming that he wanted to comeback if he doesn't land a HC Job?
I would love to have him back but hopefully this thing doesn't drag out and we get stuck scrambling looking for a DC Late

They worked together in Miami and New England.

The next year they were trash. Also, the Giants Defense was trash (from my recollection, maybe im wrong) from 2012 to 2016. So what, 50% of the Good defenses the Giants have fielded in the last 10 years came with the current coach. That means he is a keeper. Another point, the Giants are going through massive change, why would we even want them to change something that isn't broken. Could it be better, sure, but the defense was the only reason why the Giants weren't picking top 2....

You don’t lose as much as we have over the last ten years without having major problems across the board. Only reason our defense doesn’t get ripped to shreds on a daily basis is because our offense is that of a junior varsity team. We didn’t pick in the top two because the Jaguars and Lions are neck and neck with who wants to be the biggest loser. When we say we want a clean sweep, that means everything including the dust behind the couches.

I see where you are coming from and now I'm not even in favor of keeping him at this point. If he wanted to stay that would've been cool. Now, he can go.

Im absolutely reaching here, but I wonder if the Flores situation soured him to the Giants at all. It should not have but if he leaves can we sign anyone we want or do we have to hire someone based on other factors?

Sometimes we look too hard for football reasons. I said from the start--I hated the Patrick Graham interviews as they WERE the sham interviews. Flores has sour grapes. No doubt he thought he had the job but I do not believe NYG was racist in their treatment of Flores. I do think they interviewed Graham to check a box. Certainly he could be miffed by that. It also could be that his return to the North East(like it was reported he wanted) isn't what he thought it was after living in FL. Vegas is a hot destination with more stable weather, less taxes, and perhaps a more attractive area to his family.

Sorry.. but if I'm offered 3 of the same jobs I'm going to every interview and seeing who wants my services the most and what best suits me. It's common sense. I don't blame him...

He gone.
Raiders DC.
That kinda puts us behind now.
Do we get draft picks for that at least?
And now we need to find a new DC.
Wait, is it too late to hire Flores as the DC? Lol

What is with the Giants tho they had Graham in yesterday and Kafka no contracts signed, Bienemy is interviewing leaving the door open for Kafka to return to the Chiefs without pen to paper. Not sure about comp picks for coordinators making lateral moves.

Well good luck to Graham in Las Vegas, good DC the Raiders are getting IMO and he has an explosive pair of Edge Rushers to work with in Maxx Crosby and Yannick Ngakoue, just need to fix that secondary but he will do very well for them
Wink and Fangio are older guys but I would be OK with one of them but would be nice if they can continue to add young creative minds to the Staff
Jerod Mayo maybe? You would be able to keep the same system in place somewhat similar to DeMeco Ryan taking over for Robert Saleh in San Francisco. Mayo played in the system and helped Coach Linebackers in that System so it would be a much easier transition

Not sure about comp picks for coordinators making lateral moves. This is the wording of the applicable section of the rule: (ii) The employer-club shall be eligible to receive this Draft choice compensation if: a. The minority employee hired as a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive has been employed by the employer-club for a minimum of two full seasons; and b. The minority employee is not the Head Coach or Primary Football Executive of the employer-club and is hired into the same position with the new club. There can be no break in employment between clubs. It would seem that Graham would be covered under section (ii)-b

Right now it looks as tho they have only special teams under contract Graham is gone and they haven't announced the signing of Kafka. gonna be a long week of searching hope Daboll and Schoen had backup plans for both spots.
