With Graham leaving, some names that are floating around are Vangio, Martindale, and Mike Zimmer. Those are all solid DCs Fangio would be my top dog there.

Fangio would be a huge upgrade over Graham Exactly they are gonna have to pay through the nose tho to get an established guy like him to come to a team still rebuilding. He is probably the best defensive mind in the last ten years in the NFL really well respected guy.

Fangio would be a huge upgrade over Graham Martindale as well I'm not sure if our personnel would be a good fit with his system I like him for sure but man you gotta hold up in the secondary.

Sorry.. but if I'm offered 3 of the same jobs I'm going to every interview and seeing who wants my services the most and what best suits me. It's common sense. I don't blame him... And if I’m an employer I’m interviewing EVERY qualified candidate I can until someone officially inks a deal…..oh wait they did that and got slammed with a lawsuit…..wink wink…..and “WINK” as in Martindale! Bring him in!

C'mon Schoen, sell how much FUN its gonna be for a DC to coach with Daboll. Guys a wise cracking ball buster. Probably will hit a prime steakhouse or two with the O linemen.

Good move for Graham imo. Who knows? Maybe the front office spoke about going OL often and not adding much to his defense and maybe subtracting from it.

He's under contract to the Giants. If he's interviewing for a lateral move that means he doesn't want to be here. If he doesn't want to be here, he shouldn't be here. I can understand why he would leave. He got passed up for promotion here, would work for the guy that did get the job, and has a chance to make a lateral transition (probably would get offered more money) with a clean slate elsewhere. This is what I said when Dabol was hired. But was told they have worked together before and they get along great. But I see Graham feeling offended in this situation.

Why do you assume he is offended? Just curious how a internet identity would know the personal reasons why a coach would make a decision. I apologize in advance if I may have missed the tweet or article where he stated this but I could not find it in this thread.

Good move for Graham imo. Who knows? Maybe the front office spoke about going OL often and not adding much to his defense and maybe subtracting from it. This is true. We often talk about the emotions of moving and friendships with other coaches. Graham is probably thinking very logically about where his ambitions are best served over the next two years. We are still in a long term rebuild with the big moves tilting toward the OL. I wish him well and I believe we can find an upgrade among the available candidates. We can all win.

I dont blame him. Anyway i prefered a fresh start. This is going to now take 2-3 years more im afaid. And that is if it works out.

What I should have said is I "could" see Graham feeling offended. I understand how Grahams feelings might be hurt and he might feel slighted. I don't know, it's just a point of view. He might very well coach the Giant defense again this year. He has 2-3 other offers as well. He did interview for the HC position. He could coach for the man who beat him out. This might annoy him or not, who knows. I didn't mean to insinuate anything. I think he could feel a little slighted. That's all I mean't.

I suspect 2022 is not going to be much better in terms of wins and losses than 2021.
Coaches need talent and time to develop it, and money to fill in the gaps.
We have none of that. Closer to .500 is my hope. Anyone expecting miracles is going to be disappointed.

At this point we have an offense learning a real NFL offense and a defense that will be learning as well. Takes time.

For what it's worth.
Dunleavy:
"The situation now is different. Actually, it’s different than it was five days ago, when Daboll, Schoen and co-owner John Mara sang Graham’s praises and said he would return unless he became head coach of the Vikings. Indications are that premature determination didn’t sit well with Graham, who interviewed twice with the Vikings, but did not get the job"

Wish the guy nothing but luck and hope he has great success for the rest of his career where ever it takes him. The Giants are starting something new here so if thats the direction lets get as many pieces on the same time line as we can, Maybe Mara took him for what he said always the Giants are a great place and Tim McDonald and others from ND influenced that. Joe Judge being his best friend Mara just maybe didn't put enough into the fact that maybe firing his best friend changed his feeling a bit, not the right time for the Giants dictating where he decides to hang his hat either with all the accusations fling at this time.

I wish Pat well. He seemed like a nice guy and I thought our defense looked very good at times in 2020. Guys were making big plays that year. After this season it’s tough to consider this some great loss. It was tough watching the defense bend and ultimately break with no support from our offense week in and week out. I expected much more from our secondary with the addition of Jackson and the maturation of McKinney, Love, and Holmes. Bradberry and Ryan took a step back and losing Peppers hurt. The loss of Martinez and Tomlinson hurt for sure and we got nothing from Carter and X until Carter flashed at the end which his agent will milk for all he can get. Anyway. Bye Pat hello new DC. Hope to see some teeth when the Giants are on D.

There will be growing pains once again guys can only learn systems so fast but having everyone growing at the same time I think is gonna be helpful in the long run.

Graham also knows this roster is going to get purged He knows this team is going to have another rough year ahead
Why would he want to stay with the NYGs? Moving on makes 100% sense.

Closer to .500 is my hope. Anyone expecting miracles is going to be disappointed. I’d be ecstatic with 8 wins in a calendar year. I’ve only seen 14 wins in 3 full freaking seasons. My mantra may be “it’s not linear, it’s not linear” for the next couple of years.
