This is what a proper rebuild looks like. There are going to be a few moves that catch us off guard. I like the fact we seem content running the young players out onto the field and letting them prove their worth. We won’t be any good in 2-3 years if the young guys don’t develop, and the best way to learn is by taking a few lumps. Exactly Which is why fans shouldn't bitch if A Rob takes lumps all year ...m Only way he will develop, you can't panic band aid that or another position manned by a young player this year

I already lowered my win prediction to 4-5 games a few hours ago but that was before the Martinez news. Not saying he would have made the difference between 2 wins (original pick was 6-7 wins) but I’m starting to feel it’s much more realistic.

Will be interesting to see how many lumps the young defensive backs take playing in Winks pressure blitzing defense. That's a big unknown.
There won't be many young new players playing in the offense.

I think we have a good D-line I think we are really thin though there. Do we have a NT this year? Goinng to need one to clog and get double teams with Blake out now. Pass rusher is Ojulari and an unproven Thibs. L Williams will get pressure up the middle. Other than that, not really impressive IMO. The only way this defense doesn't get shredded is if our pass rush is top shelf. I like Dex and Justin Ellis. I think Dex is our NT

Schoen is turning into Michael Corleone.
He’s taking care of all family business.

Wins don't matter this year, the future does! We are at or below the bottom and we are just starting the long, long, long, long road back!

After the first few seconds of hearing this I was surprised, but really, not that surprised when I actually think about it. I liked blake, but he's not a fit defensively, he's getting up there in age, and I'm assuming this helped clear up some much needed cap? Something had to give, they'll probably ask to restructure someone else, but that just pushes the problem to next year. I will never not hate DG. 28? Too old at LB? I viewed him as the experienced vet presence on D. He had called D signals for us when he was in there the last 2 years... mostly a good 2020. When he wasn't chosen as a Capt. I figured something was brewing. My son thought maybe because we have so many new faces on the team that didn't know him... and he didn't stand out in preseason which made me think he still had some rehab needed on his knee and just wasn't ready to take on his old leadership duties for us yet. But, I didn't expect he'd be cut. I'm at a point where I have to believe Schoen knows what he's doing and Blake just wasn't a good fit rfor them.

It shows you how we’re all on the outside looking in. Slayton, restructure LW, saw someone mention Barkley. We’re all just guessing 100% of the time. As it should be when it comes to a properly functioning organization

Hard to believe he was released and not traded.
No one wanted Martinez?

Factor in 28 with a major knee injury and what do ya get?

If we needed any more proof that this is a complete tear-down Given the state of our roster coming out of last season, it is the only thing that makes sense. If there is a band aid left, rip it off.

Smart move as the Giants are starting a new rebuild and losing with older players makes no sense when you can play the young players, giving them valuable experience as the Giants develop into a good team. This is a painful, but necessary step in the process that the Giants have tried to skip since 2013.

It's both surprising and not so much. Surprising from my outside perspective, but since he is coming off a major injury, I'm guessing it just wasn't working out for either party. We'll see if he sticks with another team, and how much he gets from them if so.

They are probably still looking over the releases from other teams and comparing what we have v. them. I wouldn't be surprised to see some other faces pop up and some of the Giants get dropped. I would be surprised on a big move though
