Why I am shocked by this move and taking on 7 million in dead cap. The opening game with Derrick Henry running the rock could be real ugly. Our beloved team just looks so weak to me going into this year. Both sides of the ball. Hope I'm wrong and get surprised by how the team grows. Dex better bring his A game.

Martinez would have been a factor anyway this season in this defense. Why else would they have a mutual agreement?
they could have said hey Blake can you stick around to tackle Henry for us?
Henry has a 5 yard per average for his career. Overall no team really stops him. .

And yes Dex and Leo should be exhausted after the 1st game.

The LBs better bring their a games, Dexters job will be as usual to eat up Blocks cause a mini traffic Jam this where an instinctive LB like Martinez will be missed. As Big Blake said when he signed here, he saw Lawrence Leo and Tomlinson his words were then thank you god. and he proceeded to have 155 tackles I believe or some where around there.

My guess is they will hit the edges not all the way out, c and d instead of a and b. I would think they are gonna mug a gap to start, they have a strong rotation don't forget Ellis this is where he will be counted on and Nick Williams also who are good in their own right. If the LBs can't get it done Giants will be trampled under foot, my thoughts are this is where McFadden and the youngsters are gonna have put on their big boy pants they will see a true NFL power running game this 1st game. I can also see Love and maybe Pinnock if he is ready up around the LOS all game.

And if we don't have any reason to frighten Tenn into a 2 deep shell this doesn't happen because it will be just like the last 2 years Teams sit in a shallow zone and clog the short passing game lanes and limit any post catch yards while they can blitz the backs every play ...

A good run game might not carry the team but it sure will help.. So worried about the interior OL causing the same issues as last year especially when injuries occur. At least the outsides should be good to better as the season goes on..

Saw some signs it could be better but still they need to thin out the box for this to happen

If the short receiver is not open enough to get the first down throw the ball downfield. At least let the other team know you are willing to go deep.

Good run game and short passing game that is designed to keep the chains moving...... ya neva know!!! We're clearly going to run a lot. It’s the strength of the line now. Neal is clearly a liability in pass protection, but a beast in run blocking. We'd be fools not to exploit that right side all day. That being said, Daboll kept our weapons a military secret in preseason games. We know nothing what Robinson, much less Toney, Golloday and even Barkley can do in this offense. If our receivers are healthy, opposing defenses are going to have to cover the entire field. I don't think this is going be a dink and dunk passing game at all.

I mean as a rookie I can guess he may be of course but I havent seen anything that gives the absolute that he will be a liability in the pass pro.

Actually it's not going to be a run into a brick wall type running game the past 2 years because unlike the Judge/Garrett error Jones not only will be able to change plays at the line (favorable defenses to run or pass against )but with all these RPOs Jones can decide at mesh point to hand it off or pull it out. Also unlike the last prehistoric mess where the goal was to get to 3rd and short every drive they will be looking to maximize yardage on every play while also taking what the defense gives ..

He's struggled and will make mistakes in pass protection and give up sacks at times. Comes with the territory. I should say will be a liability "at times". As a run blocker though, he is already dominating according to beat reporters. I think they'll utilize that strength, especially early in the season as he adjusts to the pro game.

Already a force in the screen game... Considering slip screens and missle screens look to be a staple of this offense having Robinson or Toney behind him could make for some explosive plays

This should at least give Jones safer spaces to move to on the outsides, for when the interior of the pocket will likely collapse at times. I hope he's been working on throwing better from those situations.

I hate to be the "in today's league" guy, but watching many other QBs now - it's a bit of a weakness, in comparison.

Any word on whether any other teams have shown interest in Martinez? I haven't seen any.
