NICE SIGNING! Rodon will be a big arm behind Cole and Cortez. Huge!
Cortez Cole Rodon Severino Montas
In other news its being reported the inability to move Donaldson reportedly played a role in the Yanks declining to pursue Carlos Correa

They all have to hold up, which is something we arent used to seeing unfortunately. Rodon has an injury history too. Nice to bring him in though while only being 30 years old. Still in his prime.

They got to figure out LF. Need a high contact hitter with plus defense. It cant be Aaron Hicks. Also need a 3B to be honest. It cant be Josh Donaldson.
Hope they push a trade for Juan Soto.

If they don’t trade for Reynolds or another left fielder, then I guess they’ll give Cabrera a try.

Young and will only get better. Also Florial and Periera are also on the roster currently. Also, going cheap at LF will only help if they want to go hard at Rafael Devers next year to play 3rd base, which they should really look into. Hearing he is telling Boston they want a 9/10/11 year deal for $300M/$325M/$360M deal, and Boston is well short on the offer.

I was watching Yankees Hot Stove yesterday, they don't think the Yankees want to make Cabrera the full time left fielder. They really like his versatility, and would prefer to play him pretty much everywhere, although they also think he'd be quite good at it if he dedicates himself full time. Personally, I'd like to see it if they don't sign one of the FA's. I love his skillset and attitude.

To the Mets on a 12 year $315M contract after failing his medical in SF. Cohen dont care. The new George. With the added benefit of having a longterm vision in mind. George (and correct me if I’m wrong) used to just buy the big names and/or trade for them. Cohen wants to keep the farm in tact and grow it, wants to win now, and wants the franchise to not need his wealth to be a winner (in the long term). So, upfront he needs to buy the talent to build the winning culture and brand, invest in the scouting system, and then maybe 8 years from now he will be able to spend less of his “own” money to maintain a winner - as the team will be raking in more money from sales, and the roster will be relatively cheaper due to homegrown prospects starting to fill in.

And exactly 100 years later they sent Betts to the Dodgers to repeat the blunder. Verdugo and a prospect named Jeter who has since been DFAed. Meanwhile Betts is an MVP candidate winning championships for the old Brooklyn team in LA.
Don't worry Morehead, only 84 more years on this new curse!

The most lopsided trade in all American sports history. That day the tides were turned, and the Yankees empire was born. While the Yankees tore up the record books, Boston salvaged a musical.

Except instead of sparking a Yankee dynasty for 80ish years, the Dodgers look like the ones who got the spark from your trade. How do you feel about the Red Sox off-season so far? I saw they just signed Kluber. Your GM looks like he forgot he is in Boston and not Tampa Bay anymore.

Despite what you think, the Sox don't have bottomless pockets. They have to make tough decisions. At least they got a good player for Betts.

They HAD bottomless pockets. Your owner is now fattening his wallet instead of spending YOUR money on the team. Im pretty sure the covid / economy is the reason why he has tightened his spending. The Red Sox were a top 5 payroll team for a decade plus. Its how they won those championships. They have plenty of money to burn. Just they hired this new GM to try to compete with a much smaller budget, like the Rays do, and it isnt working so far. Do you think they learned from Bogeartz and will trade Devers this season now? His last year? You know, before he wears pinstripes in 2024 for a decade?

Interesting stats I just saw...
Before their age 26 season
Gleyber Torres: 10.3 fWar, 114 OPS+, 98 HR in 576 games Robinson Cano: 7.4 fWar, 109 OPS+, 62 HR in 573 games
Cano was seen as a GREAT player at one point.
