IMO They need a big bat at DH to bat 5th in that lineup to protect Alonzo. We need a RBI guy with power. To me the perfect guy would be a left hand bat with power 25-30 HR's and he has to hit .270's or higher. Our order would be so much more potent. Now where were getting this mystery DH I have no idea. I don't know who's available in FA. Conforto ? Bienetto ? Maybe a RH bat in Drury don't know how he did with S,D, at trade deadline but was always a fairly big bat with Cinci. He plays 3B. Could he spell Alonzo at 1B ? My Batting order would be just about the same lineup we had in 2022. But adding 2 strong bats. 1- (L) Nimmo CF 2- (R) Marte RF 3- (SH) Lindor SS 4- (R) Alonzo 1B 5- (L) The mystery DH 6- (SH) Escobar 3B 7- (L) McNeil 2B 8- (R) Canha LF 9- (R) Alvarez C Vogelbach will be DH-ing Your probably right. Vogelback isn't bad he hit 18 HR's altogether don't know how many RBI's but he only hit in the .230's. He can't play a position. I do like him and want him on the 26 man squad but am hoping for a more potent bat in the middle of the lineup. I really like Vogey as a person he is so approachable to the fans. Great to the kids at the stadium, he comes over and talks to them. And gives so much back to the community and charities.

OK Diaz for the 9th, Raley and Robertson for the 8th a lefty and righty, and now Ottovino and Smith for the 7th, now these 5 relievers with the 5 starters (Verlander, Scherzer, Quintana, Carrasco, Senga) plus Peterson and McGill. That's 12 of the 13 pitchers we probably carry. Now supposedly were trying to re sign Lugo and Trevor May.

Thats a good signing for them in an already strong bullpen.

Correa deal falls through with Giants due to medical condition so why wouldn't this deal fall through for the Mets?

Wait, SF failed him with medical concerns, and the Mets gave him 12 years anyway? Wow. Solid player but man, that is a lot of praying he stays healthy until he is 40.
Mets payroll update is $380M with a $90M luxury tax hit for 2023. $470M total. Cohen aint playin. That said, now I am absolutely SHOCKED they didnt keep DeGrom.
I hope Hal has another trick up his sleeve for the Yankees lineup.
NY Baseball is back. Love seeing these teams spend.
Mets and Padres are going bananas on payroll.

But it could work he is so darn adaptable I wouldn't be surprised at all if he is successful. I always liked him and wish him well. Just not against us.

He will also go through a physical for us. I assume they are aware of what the SF concern was. It’s crazy money but I appreciate what Cohen is doing.

Unbelievable ! 12 years with a failed physical about health concerns. Whatever that is. Seems like too long a contract to me. But after stupid S.F. set the mark with their offer I guess the Mets offer had to be comparable to sign him immediately and keep anyone else from competing.

This is mind numbing, and Im a Yankee fan....
Bob Nightengale-
"The New York #Mets 2023 payroll under owner Steve Cohen is now a cool $377 million, nearly $100 million more than the biggest total in #MLB history, with Carlos Correa pivoting from the #SFGiants to the Mets with his 12-year, $315 million contract.
The #Mets have spent $806 million in free agency this winter."

I'm sure that Mets fans are happy as hell not to be dealing with Wilpon right now and have this guy totally going for it.

Its got to be a weird feeling though after all the years of ridiculing the Yankees spending habits... Mets fans should be happy. Look at Boston right now. Their payroll is half what it was and they still arent keeping their superstars. Their fans are flipping out. Their ticket prices and beer prices continue to climb though.

He had a back issue in 2017 and 2019 that forced him out for most the season. He was healthy in 2021 though and most of 2022. I think the Mets will get a couple of real good years with him if the back holds up. I think the guy is an asshole cheater, but a heck of a player when healthy. It was a risky move but big move by the Mets. I think it was the smart move for them right now.
