Eppler seems to be doing a good job so far. I don't know any Mets fan who thought they'd be stupid enough to open the vault for deGrom given his age and injury history. Eppler seemed fully prepared. imo, they still need bats IMO They need a big bat at DH to bat 5th in that lineup to protect Alonzo. We need a RBI guy with power. To me the perfect guy would be a left hand bat with power 25-30 HR's and he has to hit .270's or higher. Our order would be so much more potent. Now where were getting this mystery DH I have no idea. I don't know who's available in FA. Conforto ? Bienetto ? Maybe a RH bat in Drury don't know how he did with S,D, at trade deadline but was always a fairly big bat with Cinci. He plays 3B. Could he spell Alonzo at 1B ? My Batting order would be just about the same lineup we had in 2022. But adding 2 strong bats. 1- (L) Nimmo CF 2- (R) Marte RF 3- (SH) Lindor SS 4- (R) Alonzo 1B 5- (L) The mystery DH 6- (SH) Escobar 3B 7- (L) McNeil 2B 8- (R) Canha LF 9- (R) Alvarez C Remember when I wrote this thread on Dec.11th ? Well hells bells look what we came up with. And the Mets didn't even call me to thank me for giving them the idea to win the pennant. But seriously look guys we got that "mystery DH" now Corrrea probably becomes the 3B and maybe Escobar the DH but we got that bat for the 5th spot in the order. Enough power and can hit for a respectable average of .260-.275 and drive in RBI's. We have some potent bats to move in and out of lineup without losing to much punch. We probably have Vogey and this young Baty to mix and match with. One more OF for depth I think. We maybe need a guy or 2 here and there but we are ready to go. Everybody just stay healthy. As a lifetime Met fan who watched there very first game in their history vs St. Louis, sold beer and hot dogs for them when I was in high school, and have had so many peaks and valleys with this organization in my lifetime I can't remember when I was this excited to get a season under way. LETS GO METS !

I ws looking at Correa's stats last night and he looks like a great fit for the 5th spot in our lineup. In his 8 seasons he's hit 20 or more homers 6 times. Has batted .274 or higher 6 times.
Last year with the Twins he hit .291 plus 20 something HR's. He will have a great chance to rack up rbi's with Nimmo, Marte, Lindor, and Alonzo in front of him. Escobar and McNeil behind him at 6 and 7 in the order.
This signing is another top end piece joining the team this season.

Good for him. This was obviously a bad fit for both sides. I honestly don't think he's as bad as he's been with the Mets. Having said that, the orioles is not the best destination for any player. At least not much pressure for him.

Who should be the #1 catcher for the season opener.
Tomás Nido: age 28
Francisco Álvarez : Age 20
Omar Narvaez: Age 30
I am going with Nido. He is one of the reasons we won 101 last seasons.

He is one of the reasons we won 101 last seasons. doubt it’s Alvarez although I’m thinking they want his bat for DH. Between the other two, may come down to which the pitcher is comfortable throwing to. Three catchers may make sense if one is the DH I’m guessing.

I think Narvaez is the insurance incase Alvarez just isn't ready to handle the pitching. Narvaez stays until he is. Nido deserves to be the regular catcher at least at the beginning anyway. Unless Alvaez bat is just too much to ignore not being in there regularly. We are going to have so many DH's we won't be able to get them all enough bats. Right now I see Escobar and Vogey as our DH's. Too many good players what a wonderful problem.

Mets worried about surgically repaired shoulder for Carlos Correa. Uh oh. 2nd failed physical? I mean, if one medical staff already “failed” him… You better be damn sure hes good to go if you’re the doctor that green lights your team to spend 315mill on a guy. If you’re that doctor and you get it wrong, your career is over in that field… or have it in writing that ownership doesnt give a **** about how much his health will hold up long term

It’s good to feel like we’re at least rooting for a professional organization for a change. But as we've seen from the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers over the years, all the spending in the world doesn’t guarantee championships.

Who cares though? The frustration from Skippy (Jeff Wilpon), a self absorbed rich kid with a sense of entitlement. The arrogance he demanded he remain the COO along with full control for five years, maintaining his salary and maintain an upper management title for eternity despite not being an owner is (i can’t even put into words). We’re in a better place and all happy regardless now. We deserve it.

Leg? Damn the internet lies to us. LOL Well, an infielder does need his legs too I guess. He had back injuries too. I feel like long term deals with him are more riskier than normal, but man he would help the Mets if he is healthy the next couple of years

Teams usually insure big deals like this. I wonder if it's the insurance companies that are balking.

This deal may not happen. I don’t blame the Mets you at least need protective language if that leg goes south.

But an arthroscopic surgery is so less risky and so much faster to recover from than a normal knee operation where they cut through muscle. Guess the Mets are trying to get some type protection on their investment incase Correa can't physically live up to the length of the contract. Sure hope they can sign Correa and make it work out.

It’s my opinion that Boras is now using the Twins to try to pressure the Mets. Let him go, he doesn’t want to play there and you know it. One it’s Minnesota, 2 he won’t ever win anything there. I say let him go. That’s 315m that can be used in many other fashions.

This thing with Correa keeps getting messier and messier. Apparently this leg injury hasn't bothered him in years. But a 12-13 year contract for over 300 mil you want to be sure.
He's a damn good player and was a perfect fit in the 5th slot in our batting order. His flexibility in the field was a blessing as well. I sure hope there's a way he would sign 6-8 year deal with us. I'm sure he could live the rest of his life very nicely with the money he would still make.
But this thing just might not happen now.
