For a guy that can't pass a physical the annual number is somehow going up. Giants were $27M/yr, Mets $26M/yr, Twins $33M/yr.
Wacky.

That he went from 13/350 all the way down to 6/200 tells me the long term concern is valid. I like Cohen said he’s not in this to be a drunken Sailor. 🤣🤣

Almost always like that. My guess is the Twinks know him best after having him last year, and know he wont last a decade, but are betting he will last half a decade. He is a great player, both offensively and defensively, but appears to be a major douchebag. And a cheater. If I was the Mets I would have taken him in for a 5-6 year deal. 10-11-12-13 years? Hell no.

It would actually be nice if it were Baty. It would be nice but who has any confidence in him. He certainly isn't the bat we need behind Alonzo in the order. This is a shame that Correa didn't work out. He was a perfect fit the exact #5 slot type hitter we needed behind Alonzo. 6 out of last 8 years batting .274 or higher. Batted .291 last year. Has hit 20 or more HR's 6 out of 8 years I believe 24 last year might have been 27. Just saying, I'm just disappointed. But this is Batys chance I'm rooting for him to make the jump. Baty and Alvarez were the 2 big bats at Syracuse last year.

From Dr. Scott Boras, on behalf of the “orthopedic community,” “This scenario is about a large separation in the orthopedic community about functional fitness and clinical exam versus looking at an MRI." Boras said some orthopedists believe there's an "almost Darwinian concept" where the body adapts so you can compete & perform. "The problem I have is that judgements need to be made in a proximity...And then I can't address the issue going on in medical community in the orthopedic area where you are making judgements, the crystal ball approach about their future that affects players lives."
Responses from the “orthopedic community”… a) “never go to Boras for medical advice” b) “translation: the MRI was pretty bad” c) “replace the words “players lives” with “my paycheck” d) “note his fingers-crossed qualifier, ‘some’ “
The fact that we wanted an annual physical, specifically review of the damaged area to keep the contract valid, tells me this is more than just something that looks bad. It was a significant medical concern. And the Twins were so excited to keep a marquee player that they guaranteed 6 years with no protective language. For them I hope it works out, but for us I have to think we are better off in the long run. The players, working for an owner who has thrown fiscal restrictions to the wind, need not complain about the situation.

Maybe we could have offered more and still got him, but I bet the relationship would have suffered. 2 teams/staffs/doctors were concerned enough to say no. That's good enough for me.

Oh it's McNeil your talking about. Yea signing a 50 mil contract extension. Good another good ballplayer staying with us. You know he led the N.L. in Batting Average last year and he bats 7th in our lineup. You gotta love it.

Owner himself raved about the missing piece which includes position. The Amazing news is we have an owner who will go after another name but will it be the right fit? I think the media is going to get Ohtani happy and I’m kinda skeptical if he’s the right target. Great player yet seemed to favor the West Coast. Idk

I think the media is going to get Ohtani happy and I’m kinda skeptical if he’s the right target. Great player yet seemed to favor the West Coast. Idk GMT I couldn't agree more with you about Correa, he was the exact missing piece in the batting order. He would have been our #5 hitter behind Alonzo protecting him. He could not only be our 3b but he could spell ss and 2b. Gustaves and Correa along with McNeil and Lindor. Plus Escobar at 3b and DH. 6 of the last 8 years Correa has hit .271 or higher, last year he hit .294. He also has hit 20 or more HR's in six of those 8 years, last year he either hit 24 or 27. OK, that's spilt milk it's over. Now we still have a hell of a team looks like a strong starting staff, The Mets have tried to add to the bull pen lets hope so. and our batting order is a challenge to any staff. Ohtani would be a coop for any team imo. Let him DH and pitch once a week or every 5-6 days. He also would fit the bill for a hell of a #5 hitter. LET'S GO METS !

Alonso homered with his 1st at bat of the season. lol ya gotta love it. We need to find a bat in the 5th spot of the order to protect Pete. Otherwise they pitch around him all year. Right now it looks like Vogey leads the group.
