Gary Sanchez is the new Rob Deer.

Extra innings..... But we can't seem to score anymore, and our bullpen has used all of its big guns. I feel that this one is going to be an L. I want to be wrong obviously, but these guys are playing hero ball at this point for the most part. That is pretty typical for extra inning baseball.

Oh well. At least we got a split. Anyways, Sanchez had several key at bats tonight and did nothing. Not blaming him for that loss solely. The key moment IMO was when DJ got thrown out at the plate. They had a chance to get Verlander out of the game at that point and the 3rd base coach ****ed up. Instead, Verlander comes back in the next inning and gets 2 more outs.

Sending DJL was the right thing to do. He was rounding the base before Correa even got the ball. You just had to hope the Astros didnt play it perfect, and they did. The odds of getting another hit in that situation werent strong, especially with Sanchez up. Needless to say he K-ed anyway the next inning on a breaking pitch. Sending DJL was the right call. The ball unfortunately bounced right to Correa.
Series tied at 1, but this one really hurts because they now get Cole going against us on Tuesday. That seems like an auto win for them. In order for the Yanks to win this series, they need to sweep in the Bronx.

Gary Sanchez is the new Rob Deer. Yeah what happened to that sweet swing? He's just flipping his wrists at it. Would have been better with romine in there. One hit from him possibly all it would have taken.

If we win 2 of 3 in Bronx we have a chance at another split in Houston which = series win. We could have beaten Verlander last night that game was a toss-up. We need production from a few more guys in the line-up.

That would mean Tanaka & Verlander would pitch Game 4, and Paxton & Grenke would pitch on Friday night in Game 5. So I guess the Opener game for the Yankees would be Game 6 on Saturday in Houston.

In order for the Yanks to win this series, they need to sweep in the Bronx. This will be debates but I haven't changed my original view. That play by correa was actually fairly routine and runner was thrown out by several steps. Here's what correa said: “When I saw that they were sending him,” Correa said later, laughing, “I said, ‘Thank you.’" Verlander was reeling hard at the time trying to throw strikes. I know Gary had been struggling but Verlander would have been in a bind between giving a guy with power middle of plate fastballs or walking in a run. I'd take my chances there over what really was a routine play at the plate, especially for a good infield and catcher like Houston has. We had a chance to blow the series open and blow verlander up. Imo they sent him because the over rater Verlander and were desparate for any chance at a run.

Although, there is a storm coming that could make things interesting. Wednesdays game could get cancelled which could push game 4 to Thursday and game 5 to Friday. That would allow Tanaka to go game 4 instead of 5. Verlander also would get to go game 5 and Cole pushed to game 6. It could be a messy situation. But I'd we have 4 potential games in a row without a break day, it hurts our bullpen too.

I have never been a Gary fan....but of course I want him to do well. He has been solid defensively, something I couldn't say last year....BUT he just seems to be clueless hitting, sure he got some nice home runs this year. BUT you have to be able to hit the ball at all before you can hit a home run.

Wish I could go to today's. Would be a lot of fun. Unlike many I am unafraid of Astros staff. Gerritt Cole has won 18 straight games... He is 2-0 with 25 Ks 3 BBs and a 0.57 ERA this postseason. He has given up 6 hits in 15.2 innings. In only 4 of his 35 starts this season has he not gone at least 6 innings. We need to get this kid next year.

Greg maddux used to have the same lofty stats and would get beaten post season. If you really think Cole is so invincible why play? It's that kind of thinking which imo leads to poor decisions like sending a runner from 2nd on a "hit" that stays in the infield, and not force the struggling pitcher to deal with bases loaded and a power hitter at the plate. Point is anyone can be beaten. Just go play.

Gardner, Encarnacion, and Gregorius with some of the worst at bats you will see. You have to cash in against a pitcher of this caliber. To come up with nothing was pretty shitty.

Looks like we can get to Cole, but the bizarre severino who gives up HRs more regularly than the HR derby guy has shown up.

3rd inning was easy for him. Now the bottom half of Yankees line up better start producing...didn't do Jack in game 2. Putting too much pressure on top of order.
Overall though I do notice a change in Yankees hitting approach. Being a lot more patient and more willing to take a walk or hit a single , rather than swing for fences every time.

When he first came out, he hit for power and average. I will go ahead and say it. He sucks
