How much do you want to bet on a later round lottery ticket? Exceptions don't prove the rule I don't. But the idea of drafting the 4th or 5th best QB prospect at #6 seems a poor choice. The only exception to me is Penix but the opportunity of getting an absolutely elite WR like Odunze or Nabers is hard to pass up. I fully understand. An elite player is hard to pass up. Just like an elite rb in 2018 was available. And we drafted him, didn't make much of a difference but hey he's elite..

You are overthinking this. The top 4 or 5 is still better than what we have now..Much better What we have now has taken us to the playoffs , the top 4-5 haven't done shitt in the NFL. Getting a bit salty there Red. We got to the playoffs because of Daboll and his management of the meager resources at his disposal. Got Jones to not throw ints and manage the game. We beat a historically bad defensive team, then the next week got curb stomped by the Igs and Jones was exposed.. The past season he stunk out loud, was outplayed by a UDFA and a journeyman. Right now Arch Manning probably could outplay him.. He is at his ceiling.. Time for a change...

If you can tell me who the next Josh Allen is in this draft, I would say pick him. If you can't, we need a wide receiver, safety, cornerback, and offensive wineman, before we need a quarterback this year.

If Joe goes for it we'll get to see if it sets the Giants back another 5 years from being a relevant NFL team. Hope he's smart enough not to do so.

You mean like the last QB pick has set us back 5 years from being relevant ... and counting? Yes, it's true - we WOULD get to see if another QB would set us back or not... instead of being pretty sure that we remain irrelevant. So how many more years before we take a shot at door B?

Do you suffer from short term memory loss? As Jones got the Giants to the playoffs in Daboll's first season. Will do so again if he stays healthy and the Giants continue to have a good draft and if new free agents perform well on the field.

Schoen should avoid drafting a QB as Giants have so few picks., and have so many others needs to fill.

Your opinion might be QB or don’t bother. But if the rumoured price to move to 3 or 4 is correct, I hope he doesn’t bother. The OP poster would have started a “Fire the GM” thread immediately after Schoen would have had to give up three 1st round picks to either get Herbert (and assume his contract), Daniels or Maye.

personally, I think a QB is still definately in play for one of our picks. Word it that Rattler may jump up into the 2nd, so he will probably not be available to us (I would not use our 2nd round pick on him), but Pratt, Travis, Milton, and Leary could be good day 3 picks (not a fan of Sam Hartman, personally). Travis especially interests me. He looked excellent before the broken leg this year, and could be a steal in the 5th/6th round...

Of the remaining QBs, I'd be ok with Pratt in the 4th, don't think Rattler will be available to us the way the draft if playing out, as I would not use my 2nd rounder on him, and would be very reluctent to us our 3rd. With the run on QBs, I would not be surprised if he goes in the 2nd anyway...

I doubt it will be with Daniel Jones though. I agree that he stinks.

Jones will be the Giants starting QB the next three years. So if you want to see the Giants be succesful you should start rooting for him and the Giants.

From all accounts, Joe Schoen really wanted Drake Maye, he offered Pats a good offer, but sounds like Pats had just as much conviction on Drake Maye.
They felt 6 was a little high for JJ and even considered moving down, but it takes two to tango. Ultimately they went with the safest and best available player
I can't get mad at them, they tired. But unfortunately we are staring down year 6 of the Dan Jones era. Maybe year 6 will be the year Dan Jones throws 20 TDs and 3500 yds in 16 games

Who was the franchise QB they had a chance to draft. Sure isn’t McCarthy. Are you talking about Penix? Bo Nix? Sorry, but this year the three most QB needy teams in the league ended up with picks 1, 2, and 3. There is zero legitimate evidence any of those teams seriously consider trades (and why would they?). Giants did the right thing based on the circumstances.

Unless they had a top 3 pick. Getting the WR was a good move as they are very expensive these days. This way you get Nabers for 5 years and things are set up to actually bring in and develop a quarterback next year/beyond. And/or there is enough for a veteran to work and win with.

Do you have selective memory loss and remember only the two games that Jones ever played at a franchise quarterback level? The multiple "Ifs" that follow your prediction are more signs of hope than reasoned confidence... I'll be surprised if the Vegas oddsmakers share your opinion.
