These types of reactions were way more often than not in this fan base. There is some NSFW in this, so watch at your own discretion.

I was all in on Jones in December. Correction, fbomb was all in on Jones several months before the draft. What made you buy into him at the time? Once we were out of contention, I started researching college QB's for the upcoming draft. It was obvious that was going to be our main priority coming into Eli's last season. I started off saying that Haskins is the obvious choice, until I found DJ. I went back and watched ALL of Duke's games last year and I saw a QB put a putrid team on his shoulders and take them to 8 wins plus winning a bowl game.

But the overreaction when he was drafted was spot on. No they werent. Chris Carter said the Giants were racist not taking Haskins over Jones. Most thought Jones was not a great pick. That is true. And that was one of the worst takes that I've ever seen or heard. I didn't even know about it until someone on here mentioned it about a month ago. I then went and watched the YouTube video of it. What an ass. I am black and thought what Carter said was extremely idiotic.

Jone last night did all the things he wasn't supposed to be good with. Going through his reads lightning fast using his eyes and some shoulder hitches to manipulate DBs and that was with the starters in. Taking a big hit like it was nothing and getting up and standing tall in muddy pocket and delivering the signs are good just need to see consistency and growth. If we had drafted Haskins and he played the way he has this fanbase would be going nuts not that he is gonna bust who knows but his accuracy is scatter shot at best right now missing open receivers short long and intermediate, Mrray with pressure didn't look to hot either I'm happy with the kids progress.

Hello! I didn’t want DJ at all, with any pick.
He’s been nothing short of mind blowing to me. I was wrong.
Not sure anyone really hated on Slayton, just the wait to address the need.

Even on here, I think that only one person (fbomb I think) was all in on Jones around draft time. Me and Fbomb were for sure the longest supporters. He was just a perfect fit. Anyone that actually watched all his games could see what talent he had, especially on the deep throw. Someone tweeted a stat around halloween about the most accurate deep passers in college when accounting for WR drops and Jones was #1. I started watching his films and believing in him ever since. Just made sense in my mind. I want to say a couple other people got on board before the draft as well, very few though.
I'll admit to feeling mixed feelings when we had to pass on the best pass rusher in the draft to get him, I was a bigger fan of White though and he was gone so could not have been more happy with Jones.

And right now what he brings is really needed to open up everything else underneath.

I might be one of the few but still think our general manager has forgotten more then this board knows collectively.

Wow. Crown the kid already after 3 preseason games... Get that yellow jacket ready. I love what I have seen, but some of you guys are going overboard. We have to wait until he faces a true defense and exotic schemes, not in the preseason. I will be gladly eating crow if he turns into a top QB in the league, you're damn skippy, but the over reactions on his preseason are a bit insane right now. As for Slayton, my biggest issues with him were injury concerns and drops. He was a 5th rounder for a reason. As for game 3, I will watch it today so I have no comment on that but from what I heard DJ looked good at what he was asked to do. I know Eli is starting the season but I really hope they move on quickly once it goes south and dont wait for the season to be over. Don't be rooting for failure..... With Barkley and Shepherd back and a relatively easy start, Eli could be our QB for quite a while this year.
Now, IF it goes south, the kid should get as much live experience as we can throw at him. The transition is much easier than a lot of people here are making it out to be. There is no fight to be had. It will all reveal itself.
Mostly, every Giants fan should be filled with pride and thoughtful anticipation that we may very well have found our next franchise QB. Very few teams actually pull it off that smoothly (if we do). That thought makes me smile.

Im not. Glad thats clarified. I am into the 3rd Q now in this game, and this looks much like the same team as last year. Not sure how much better it will be. OL looks shakey. Defense looks off (expected with all the youth). No return game. ect. I still say 5-6 wins this year. Its not what I want, or am rooting for, but its what I see right now. Maybe the O will look better once SQB and Shep are playing. And maybe the defense is still playing it vanilla.

Well so far, you are looking great in your assessment. So far, so good. I never understood why people were so vocal about the 17th vs 6th pick. That works with OL or LB or WR. With your franchise QB, if a GM or an FB has such conviction, you take him and leave nothing to chance. DG did just that and we are very fortunate as a result.
You on the other hand called the shot, climbed way out on a 200 foot limb and never looked back. Well done my friend!

I don’t get lumping these 2 together. Jones went 6. Slayton was a late round pick. Jones has looked great. Slayton has had a blah camp. What’s the correlation?

Ok, I admit I was wrong. I wanted DJ at 17 not 6. I wanted Bush at 6. The Giants obviously knew what they were doing at 6 and FBomb was on point about the kid from the start. However the negatives Nancy's and Ned's whined to high heaven Jones would be a bust or average at best. How's that crow taste? This kid is gonna be a star. Toughness - smarts - accuracy - class - knowledge - cool in the pocket - throws darts. He should start but he won't and I understand that. Let's see what Eli can or "can't" do first. Slayton can't catch or run a pattern other than a fly or go. More negative Ned's and Nancy's crawled out of the woodwork about this guy. Well he's proven the naysayers wrong with a good camp and caught the first dart thrown to him in a game last night. I said he was a great pick and will score often. I'm sticking to it. Kudo's to those who may not of supported the picks but had an open mind. The belly achers from the start on draft day have been served up some Tum's trying to help digest the over indulgence of Crow. I realize it's early but these two will continue to serve up Tum's to the draft day belly acher's. I'm sticking with my draft day prediction that Connely will start at LB by mid season if not sooner. I'm glad I reserved judgement because now I get to unload on the internet keyboard warriors who made fun of the Giants, and Giant fans who thought they were so much smarter than Gettleman and Shurmur. To be honest, though, Jones hasn't proven anything yet...but I've seen too much to say he isn't well on his way. It's too bad Kiper was right when he said there will probably be haters who will never admit they were wrong about him. As luck would have it, I have a crystal ball in my possession and here is the progression of things they'll say to diminish him in the next ten years with every milestone he potentially reaches. 1. "Daniel Jones hasn't played a regular season game yet." - Jones plays well in the regular season. 2. "Daniel Jones hasn't won a playoff game yet." - Jones wins a playoff game. 3. "Daniel Jones hasn't proven he's a super bowl winner yet." - Jones wins a super bowl. 4 "Daniel Jones lucked his way to winning a super bowl with the help of a.) the refs b.) his own defense c.) the other team. And he won't prove to be great if he only wins one super bowl." - Jones wins another super bowl 5. "Lightning sometimes strikes twice. Daniel Jones and the Giants basically lucked out/cheated their way to winning two super bowls" Jones wins three super bowls 6. "Daniel Jones isn't as good as Brady who has more super bowl wins than him." Daniel Jones inducted into the 2045 HOF class where Tom Brady's bust is waiting. 7. "Brady has 6 super bowls and Daniel Jones only has 3. See, I told you he wasn't as good as Brady!"

Because they think Josh Allen could have been 6 and Jones could have been 17. For as much of a beast as Allen has looked, I'm taking Jones at 6 with how he's looked based on the importance of the two positions.

In other words, it's pointless to wonder. And I won't care either way if Jones is that good.

I honestly HATED the pick, I thought we jumped WAY too early for a QB that didnt really do much in college. IMO he didnt look like he could throw a tight spiral more than 15yds, his long passes looked like wobbly floaters that looked like they could be picked off by a pro from a mile away.
THAT being said, he looks TOTALLY different than the player I saw before the draft. I am MORE THAN happy to admit that I am wrong so far. DJ looks like he could possibly be the truth, and looks like he COULD be our franchise for years to come.....
I will also be joining many others at the table to GLADLY eat crow if he pans out
As for Slayton, he's played part of 1 preseason game, so id pump the breaks on him...

I wanted Allen. Didn't want Jones. Glad they got him.
I don't think there was any way Jones was getting past Denver (they wound up trading back) or the Bengals or the Redskins so I'm glad the Giants didn't try and get cute with the pick and hope he was there at 17.
Still a long way to go but real glad that I was dead wrong so far.

Far too soon for a "Crow eating" thread. And that is coming from ME!!! I want Jones to start game 1. I believe he is ready and gives us as much a chance to win (or better) as Eli. The o-line is still shaky (Hernandez looked bleak against a pro-bowl pass rusher) and the defense is young and STILL can't get off the field on 3rd down. This team isn't going to win a ton of games this year, so imo, it makes little sense to keep trotting Eli out there. Let the kid go through his rough patches sooner rather than later. But, for the love of God, can we PLEASE put the brakes on calling people out for hating the pick? That's coming.........I promise. Fbomb I’m hoping DJ becomes a great QB and I want him to play but it’s most likely he will only play after the Patriots game if Eli has played like he usually plays. We have a very soft schedule the first 4 weeks. If we are 1-5 or 2-4 after the Patriot’s game that would be the time to put Sweet Daniel in.
